It’s such an innocent question for the average Walt Disney World vacation planner: Where can I get my Mickey Mouse ears embroidered? But historically, the answer has pointed out an obvious flaw in a nearly-essential element of every Disney fan’s vacation: to date, only the Magic Kingdom (The Chapeau, Sir Mickey’s, County Bounty), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Head to Toe) and Downtown Disney Marketplace (Days of Christmas, Wonderful World of Memories) have offered the option.
With Tinktober coming to a close at an alarming rate, it’s worth taking a look at the Tinker Bell Mix Max Plus Media Player from Digital Blue. With 1GB of internal memory (expandable up to 4 GB via SD), it boasts a 2.8″ 320 X 240 LCD screen and plays video, audio and displays images along with Disney Mix Clips and Disney Max Clips. The best part is it’s available directly from the manufacturer at 70% off the original retail value of $99.99, so it can be yours today for just $29.99. Perfect for those not quite old enough to handle an iPhone, the Mix Max players have some pretty decent reviews on Amazon but you can only find the Tinker Bell version from the Amazon Marketplace for a current minimum of $50.

I just came across this collection available from Acme Archives titled Disney Underground. The collection allows artists to offer what’s described as an ‘abstract pop surrealism’ effect to classic Disney characters, including the fab five.
Pictured to the left is Porcelain by artist Steven Daily (you decide who it’s meant to be as the artist claims any likenesses are coincidental). The giclee on canvas is limited to 100 pieces, hand-numbered and signed by the artist. It measures 19″ x 24″ and is available unframed for $250 (framing and other options available).
Earlier this year, it was announced that Enesco’s Grand Jester Studios would be introducing a line of sculpture busts based on Disney heroes and villains. Sideshow Collectibles has announced that the next entry in the series, Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, will be available come first quarter of 2010 and is now available for pre-order for $80. At a limited edition of 1500, this gorgeous 10.5″ tall sculpture is bound to go faster than you can say dragon!

BURBANK, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2009) – ABC Family and Build-A-Bear Workshop® are coming together to create a little holiday “hoofla” this season as the network debuts an animated special that marks the first time in the retailer’s 12-year history that its plush animals are brought to life on television. “Holly and Hal Moose: Our Uplifting Christmas Adventure,” a one-hour feature movie, makes its nationwide premiere on ABC Family on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 PM ET/PT (with an encore presentation on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 AM ET/PT). The television special is based on a book and series of webisodes that introduced Holly and Hal Moose last year and captured their holiday antics, powerful imaginations and love of adventure.
“Holly and Hal” features Meaghan Martin (“10 Things I Hate About You,” “Camp Rock”) and Jonathan Morgan Heit (“Bedtime Stories”) as the voices of Easton and Weston (respectively), two high-strung elves who monitor the North Pole Weather Center. In addition, an exclusive theme song, “When You Dream,” was created for the movie by Tena Clark, award-winning music producer, song writer and CEO/chief creative officer of DMI Music & Media Solutions.
“Holly and Hal were our first characters to inspire a storybook, and now they’re the first to become movie stars,” said Maxine Clark, founder and chief executive bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop. “The tale of this antlered-sibling duo is meant to inspire people to follow their dreams – no matter how big they seem. It’s a classic holiday adventure that offers families the opportunity to start a new tradition of watching it together each season.”
