Disney and the NBA Team Up to Offer Mickey & Friends Tees Inspired by the 2009 NBA Finals

Miley Cyrus and Walmart Announce New Clothing Line, North American Tour – Presales Begin June 8

BENTONVILLE, Ark., June 3  — Walmart today announced the introduction of Miley Cyrus & Max Azria, a new clothing line available only at Walmart. Walmart brings together best-selling artist and entertainer Miley Cyrus and Max Azria of apparel house BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, Inc. to offer customers affordable and trend-right apparel. The line will arrive in all Walmart stores and on Walmart.com in early August, and includes tops, pants, graphic tees, shoes and accessories, all priced less than $20.

“Our launch of the Miley Cyrus & Max Azria line continues our strategy of engaging customers across categories,” said John Fleming, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. “This time, we’re bringing together a leading entertainer and a top apparel house to bring exciting product and price leadership to our customers.”

Miley Cyrus’ rock-and-roll roots influenced many of the looks. The line reflects a continuation of her relationship with Walmart, where she is among the retailer’s top-selling recording artists. “I love creating looks that are all about personal expression and individuality,” said Cyrus. “Collaborating with Max Azria has been an amazing experience, and I’m really excited about launching this line with Walmart. There’s even more to come!”

Disney Consumer Products Unleashes All New Intiatives, from Mickey Mouse to Rapunzel and Everyone Inbetween

Disney unveils a line of fashion inspired by Mickey Mouse at the Licensing International ExpoLas Vegas, NV – June 2, 2009 – Disney Consumer Products(DCP) today announced new content and product line extensions behind its renowned portfolio of character franchises starting with the return of the classic Toy Story franchise, the addition of two Disney Princess characters, new Mickey Mouse initiatives, a new Winnie the Pooh theatrical movie and the expansion of the Disney Fairies film series. Disney Channel also announced major milestones for the global sensational hit Hannah Montana as the series is renewed for a fourth season and the award-winning Handy Manny preschool series adds two primetime specials and a new 20 episode short-form series.

‘Handy Manny’ Measures Up with New Season, Shortform Series, Specials and New Friends

In addition to 29 brand new episodes for its third season, today Disney Channel announced a new short-form series and two primetime specials. “Handy Manny’s School for Tools,” 20 animated shorts, will begin production this year for a 2010 premiere. In Fall 2009, Disney Channel will present the first of two primetime specials, “Handy Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure,” which takes viewers along on Manny’s exciting and unexpected road trip to his family reunion. The special features four new songs including “Rolling” performed by renowned East Los Angeles rockers Los Lobos. The second primetime special will debut in 2010. The daily series will also introduce 10 new tools: a jackhammer, a power screwdriver, a power socket wrench, a shop vac, a pair of needle nose pliers, a deluxe tool box, a laser level and a trio of crescent wrenches.

Disney Label Donald Duck Transformer on the Way?

The following image of a potential new Disney Label transformer has been popping up on the internet as of late and has even reported to have been spotted inside a Hong Kong shop, with an expected release date in August.Disney Label Donald Duck Artwork

Because of his resemblance to an assumed yellow car (such as Bumblebee), Donald has earned himself a not-so-family-friendly nickname of Bumbleduck.

Theme Park Merchandise Now Available Online at DisneyShopping.com

Disney Parks AuthenticThis year, the Walt Disney Company appears to be celebrating synergy more than anything else and they’ve taken it to a whole new level here.

With very limited cross-over in the past, the Walt Disney Company has done well to keep its merchandising lines completely separate from each other. Even when Disney owned the Disney Store the first time, the merchandise found at the Theme Parks (often marked with both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland logos along with a golden castle logo) was primarily available only at the theme parks or mail order (or the occasional shopping by proxy), but never at the Disney Store or online.
