In addition to 29 brand new episodes for its third season, today Disney Channel announced a new short-form series and two primetime specials. “Handy Manny’s School for Tools,” 20 animated shorts, will begin production this year for a 2010 premiere. In Fall 2009, Disney Channel will present the first of two primetime specials, “Handy Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure,” which takes viewers along on Manny’s exciting and unexpected road trip to his family reunion. The special features four new songs including “Rolling” performed by renowned East Los Angeles rockers Los Lobos. The second primetime special will debut in 2010. The daily series will also introduce 10 new tools: a jackhammer, a power screwdriver, a power socket wrench, a shop vac, a pair of needle nose pliers, a deluxe tool box, a laser level and a trio of crescent wrenches.

This year, the Walt Disney Company appears to be celebrating synergy more than anything else and they’ve taken it to a whole new level here.
With very limited cross-over in the past, the Walt Disney Company has done well to keep its merchandising lines completely separate from each other. Even when Disney owned the Disney Store the first time, the merchandise found at the Theme Parks (often marked with both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland logos along with a golden castle logo) was primarily available only at the theme parks or mail order (or the occasional shopping by proxy), but never at the Disney Store or online.

Retailing at $195.00, each member of the final edition of the Disney Star Wars Big Figures is being offered in a limited edition of 600. 500 pieces will be available at Walt Disney World with the remaining 100 at the Disneyland resort.
The figures are set to be released during the second weekend of Star Wars Weekends (May 29-31) but the resort is accepting pre-orders now.
