Just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Sony and Disney Interactive have revealed the first look and additional details for their exclusive ‘Disney Infinity 2.0′ Collector’s Edition for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as well as a PlayStation 3 bundle.
As part of the third annual ‘Sweet Suite’ event held last night in New York City, I once again had the distinct pleasure to meet with ‘Disney Infinity’ executive producer John Vignocchi as I got a second recent look at the upcoming ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ title on the PS4 on an even newer build than the one I saw last month. Unfortunately I didn’t get any actual hands-on with the game this time around as the build is so recent, it contained items not yet officially announced so there’s nothing I can share in terms of that other than to prepare you to hold on to your seats firmly, especially as San Diego Comic-Con hits us next week.
Disney Interactive today announced that Stitch and Tinker Bell will join Merida and Maleficent as new Disney themed playable characters in the ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ Toy Box to be released later this year. To celebrate the occasion, Disney Interactive has supplied us with high res images of the new figures as well as Toy Box screen shots featuring them at play.
The official character descriptions are as follows:
Stitch: The lovable ‘experiment 626′ from the popular Lilo & Stitch films comes to the ‘Disney Infinity’ Toy Box 2.0 along with his trusty cosmic blaster and the ability to super jump to galactic new heights.
In conjunction with today’s theatrical release of Maleficent, Disney Interactive unveiled new details for Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition playable characters Maleficent and Merida. In addition to a game play trailer, final concept art for the figure as well as screen shots of the duo in action inside the Toy Box were also released and can be seen below.
Merida: With her untamed fiery red locks, this headstrong Princess will definitely leave her mark in Disney Infinity. Between her sharp sword and bow combo attacks with ricocheting arrows, she can upgrade her aim with elemental freeze arrows, freezing enemies in front of her then following up with rapid shots showing off her impressive athletic skills as an archer and sword fighter.
Where your destiny awaits. That’s the tag line used in the newest ‘Disney Dream Portrait’ series entry by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. As we previously shared, the image features actress Jessica Chastain tackling the role of Merida from Disney/Pixar’s Brave. Chastain is the next in a long list of celebrities who have posed as popular Disney characters for Liebovitz.
Embedded below is a behind-the-scenes video courtesy of ‘Entertainment Tonight’ which shares some of the ‘Disney Dream Portrait’ photo session:
According to the official Disney Parks blog, the new image will appear in the February issue of O – The Oprah Magazine.
Although we will have to wait until tomorrow to see the actual portrait, ETOnline has announced that actress Jessica Chastain is the next to be the subject in the ‘Disney Dream Portrait’ series by Annie Leibovitz for Disney Parks and Resorts.
In the portrait, for which ET has already shared a behind-the-scenes video look (embedded below), Chastain assumes the role as Merida from Disney Pixar’s Brave. Chastain joins a long line of celebrities who have assumed the roles of Disney heroes and heroines and even figures from theme park attractions.
