If you’ve seen at least three advertisements on children’s television lately, you’ve no doubt seen the one for CuddleUppets by Jay@Play. For the uninitiated, CuddleUppets are precisely what the earworm of the jingle says — blankets with puppets. Children can wrap themselves up with the cuddly blanket portion of the CuddleUppets while manipulating the puppet portion with one hand. Beginning this spring, Jay@Play will be releasing an entirely new line of CuddleUppets featuring popular characters from across the Disney brand. Pictured above are Lambie and Hallie from the popular Disney Junior show ‘Doc McStuffins,’ along with Agent P from Disney XD’s ‘Phineas and Ferb.’ Additional characters waiting to hit the shelves include Sulley from Disney/Pixar’s Monsters Inc. and Monsters University, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Also included in the bunch are Marvel’s Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk from Disney XD’s ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ and ‘Avengers Assemble,’ respectfully. While both the Marvel CuddleUppets allow children to manipulate the head, the mouths do not open as they do on other entries in the line.
The Disney CuddleUppets should be hitting the shelves in May and June at most major retailers such as Walmart, Target and Amazon. In addition to CuddleUppets, Jay@Play informs us that they will be producing Disney branded Shamzee pillow cases and that it’s likely the Disney characters will be incorporated into their entire line over time.

‘Minnie’s Wizard of Dizz’ DVD Details Released
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has now confirmed our initial report about an as-of-yet unannounced special musical episode of ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ titled ‘Minnie’s the Wizard of Dizz
After being swept up in a big wind, Minnie and Pluto end up in the silly but spectacular land of Dizz. It’s an amazing place with rainbow trees, butterfly bows, and friendly ‘Chipmunchkins,’ but what Minnie wants most is to get home. Together, Minnie and her new friends Scarecrow Goofy, Mickey the Tin Mouse, and Donald the Lion set off to ask the wonderful Wizard of the Pink Crystal City to make their dreams come true. But look out! Sneaky Witch Pete wants Minnie’s magical, sparkly pink shoes, and he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve.
Included on the DVD along with the special episode are two other ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ episodes, ‘The Golden Boo-Boo’ and ‘Goofy’s Gone,’ as well as ten episodes of the short form series, ‘Minnie’s Bow Toons.’ In addition, the DVD will include a free download of the Minnie Bow Maker digital book app.

‘Minnie’s the Wizard of Dizz’ on DVD on February 5
‘Minnie’s the Wizard of Dizz
Apparently, and agreeably so, it will be a ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ special which will presumably be announced and air on Disney Channel and Disney Junior ahead of its DVD release. One could surmise from the title that this will be a take on the L. Frank Baum The Wizard of Oz series. The popular children’s series has already tackled Alice in Wonderland with its ‘Adventures in Wonderland’ episode.
Also lending credence to theory and adding a bit of suspicion to the subject matter and timing is Walt Disney Studios’ own Oz the Great and Powerful prequel to the series of books, which will bow into theaters a month later on March 8, 2013.
We will provide more information on the ‘Minnie’s the Wizard of Dizz’ special and DVD as it becomes available to us.

Minnie Mouse Collection by Gerlan Jeans to Debut at New York Fashion Week
Gerlan Jeans has announced that as part of its Spring/Summer 2013 ‘Gerl Power’ collection, it will incorporate fashion icon Minnie Mouse into her own line of clothing.
The Minnie-inspired clothing is described as vivid repeat prints that showcase Minnie’s many moods and then ‘sets her signature bow free to fly!’ The signature ‘Minnie Bow’ is seen throughout the collection as a symbol of empowerment, taking the bow to new heights and making it the must-have accessory of the season. Fashion enthusiasts will take note of the flirty ‘Minnie Maxi-skirt’ and sassy ‘Bow-veralls’ as showpieces of the collection.
‘Minnie Mouse is a fashion icon that transcends time,’ said Stephanie Kraus, vice president of global product development and softlines for Disney Consumer Products. ‘Our collaboration with Gerlan Jeans brings to life Minnie’s flirty vitality and introduces her to a new generation of young women who will be inspired to infuse their fashion with fun.’
Both the Gerl Power and Minnie Mouse lines will be unveiled when Gerlan Jeans takes to the runway as part of New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 13, 2012.

Photos: Target’s ‘Disney Artist Collection’ Hits Bullseye for Fun Fashions
I must start by making two startling confessions: first, despite being an avid fan of ‘Project Runway,’ I never really understood equating fun with fashion; second, up until last night, I don’t believe I have ever stepped foot inside a Target store (only because where I live makes it particularly difficult). Both of these errors of my ways were corrected last night, however, as I managed to find my way to the clothing departments of a Target just a couple of hours away.
What brought me to Target were images and buzz going around the Disney fan world of a new collection from Target titled the ‘Disney Artist Collection.’ The recipient of much of the attention was Oswald — and rightfully so — as well as a tee inspired by the very first Silly Symphonies short, The Skeleton Dance. But Oswald, as I soon learned, was just the tip of the iceberg of this unique collection which is bound to surprise and delight Disney fans of all ages.
Although the women’s collection was missing completely at the particular location I visited, I was able to see some of the men’s, boys’, girls’ and toddler collections and going through the racks, it was Christmas morning as each design I discovered intrigued me more and more.
It wasn’t so much Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (and there is plenty of Oswald, no doubt the star of the collection), nor the obligatory Mickey and Minnie Mouse (whom I’m always happy to see), but the host of ancillary characters who are rarely — if ever — featured on merchandise. Spotted gracing the collection, for example, were Cleo and Figaro from Pinocchio, Pluto’s nemesis Butch, the Big Bad Wolf and Three Little Pigs and even a dwarf who is neither Dopey nor Grumpy, but rather Sleepy.
The artwork is fun and creative, often spanning both sides of the top, and is often enhanced for its target audience, such as distressing marks for boys & men, while often modest amounts of glitter for girls.
The one negative sentiment I must share, however, and this seems to be shared with others who have spotted the collection early in local stores is that the color palettes and sizing appears to be very limited. Additionally, while there are a few items available online (mostly women’s), there’s a substantial amount of the collection missing from Target.com as of this time.
