‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ New Stills Feature Kansas Characters (Minor Spoilers)
We have just a few more days before Oz the Great and Powerful debuts in theaters nationwide on March 8, 2013 and so far we’ve seen plenty of images of the mystical land and its inhabitants. Today, Walt Disney Studios has decided to share with us stills of a couple of characters from Oscar Digg/Oz’s world in Kansas, where he performs in the traveling Baum Brothers Circus. While we have a photo of the sideshow Strongman (portrayed by Tim Holmes), we also have a photo of a young lady who bears a striking resemblance to actress Joey King. How’s that? You know how the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz ends (the book itself does not share the same ending in the slightest), so it’s only fair that you know just how this prequel begins. It’s already been shared that Zach Braff, who voices Finley, also serves as Oz’s assistant in Kansas. In fact, there may be even another friendly face or two in the opening scenes, so you’ll want to keep an eye out.
The new stills have been added to the beginning of our gallery below. As always, click on any of the thumbnails to enlarge and the resize arrows on the larger image to view it at its original resolution.
Oz The Great and Powerful imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot — fame and fortune are his for the taking — that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry — Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

‘Iron Man 3′ Hi-Res Stills Feature Killian, Potts, Starks and Rhodes
Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have shared with us a few new hi-res stills from Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3, in theaters on May 3, 2013. Of particular interest is the image of a smirking Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), founder of Extremis developer A.I.M, entering the Stark Industries Headquarters with right-hand-woman Pepper Potts (Paltrow) not looking quite as pleased. The other stills feature Stark hard at work in what appears to be a garage/shed of some sort (with what appears to be a bit of the Iron Man suit lurking in the background) and Stark (in Team A.I.M. clothing) alongside Rhodes (Cheadle).

‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ Clip – ‘China Girl Joins the Party’
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios New Zealand, we have a new clip from Disney’s upcoming Oz the Great and Powerful (in theaters March 8) titled ‘China Girl Joins the Party.’ Although we have seen many photos of China Girl to date, this is the first clip that actually shows her talking and interacting with fellow Ozians. In this case, it’s Oscar Diggs/Oz (James Franco) and Finley (voice of Zach Braff) after encountering her in China Town while in pursuit of the Wicked Witch of the West.
As an aside, considering Franco is the only tangible actor in this scene, China Girl actually had a stand-in on the set in the form of an actual (and very complicated) marionette by Philip Huber. For the film, the puppet’s performance was replaced by a CG character whose face digitally incorporates that of Joey King, the actress who voices her.
Disney’s fantastical adventure Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity — and even a bit of wizardry — Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

‘Monsters University’ Poster Full of Character, Intrigue
A new international poster for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University has been released and it’s chock full of characters from the film along with several confirmations (such as Randy Boggs (aka Randall) being affiliated with the Roar Omega Roar (ROR) fraternity as well as George Sanderson being in Jaws Theta Chi (JOX)), but what’s perhaps most telling is that none of the Omega Kappa (OK) students are in their respective uniforms. Instead, Mike, Sulley, Don, Squishy, Terri & Terry and Art all simply appear in clothing reading Monsters University. This and the fact that Omega Kappa’s fraternity house is actually in the basement of Squishy’s Mom’s house starts to make one wonder just how official OK starts out.
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
Screaming with laughter and fun, Monsters University stars the vocal talents of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and Peter Sohn and is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

We also get a few additional looks at the darker side of the land including the forest as well as Evanora (Rachel Weisz) getting her witch on as well as some up close and personals between Diggs and Glinda (Michelle Williams).
The new stills have been added to the beginning of our gallery below. As always, click on any of the thumbnails to enlarge and the resize arrows on the larger image to view it at its original resolution.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ on Digital Download Weeks Before Blu-ray
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today announced that Wreck-it Ralph from Walt Disney Animation Studios would be available for digital download on February 12, nearly one month before the 3D Blu-ray and its variants are available to purchase on March 5.
According to the announcement, the download (available as both high definition and standard definition formats), will include all of the aforementioned Blu-ray bonus features with exception to the Disney Intermission featuring Chris Hardwick.
This move marks a first for the company, although the move is not unprecedented as Disney was one of the first to release Blu-ray discs weeks before their DVD-only counterparts and is indicative of the company moving closer to the Disney Movies Anywhere initiative.
