Last month, we offered up evidence that Disney’s (NYSE:DIS) proprietary digital film access system, once known as Disney Studio All Access, had undergone a name change to now be known as ‘Disney Movies Anywhere.’ Although DISNEYMOVIESANYWHERE.COM ultimately goes to the DSAA preview site (via disneymoviesanywhere.disney.go.com) and the company has kindly removed the website pictured here (which was never at the aforementioned domain name ironically enough).
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios UK, where the Cinderella Diamond Edition Blu-ray has already released, we catch a (literal) glimpse of some of the bonus features that will be available when the Blu-ray is released on October 2, 2012.
Among the new bonus features are an introduction to the film presented by Diane Disney Miller, a recently discovered alternate opening and a segment titled ‘The Real Fairy Godmother,’ a documentary that examines the life of Mary Alice O’Connor who married Disney animator and Imagineer Ken O’Connor and inspired the character of Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.
From the studio that brought you the award-winning blockbuster The Help, comes an emotional and inspirational story about a young man’s journey of self discovery as he connects with a family he barely knows. Starring Chris Pine (Star Trek), Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games), Olivia Wilde (Tron) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Dark Shadows), DreamWorks Pictures releases People Like Us, a must-own, heartfelt and relatable story – on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD, Digital and On-Demand on October 2, 2012 and now available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
The Academy Award®-winning animated comedy adventure Monsters, Inc. returns to the big screen—now in 3D—with lovable Sulley (voiced by John Goodman) and his wisecracking best friend Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) as they struggle to help a little girl named Boo (voiced by Mary Gibbs) find her way home from Monstropolis in the midst of a wild and mysterious cover-up.
Monsters, Inc. 3D will be followed by its prequel, Monsters University, which debuts theatrically on June 21, 2013.
Ahead of any official announcement, we have learned that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing the hotly anticipated follow-up to Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 1, Volume 2, available to own on November 13, 2012 and now available for pre-order from Amazon.com.

Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln, a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.
Marvel UK/Ireland (NYSE:DIS) has posted a few sneak peeks of the bonus features from the upcoming release of Marvel’s The Avengers, available to own on Disney 3D Blu-ray on September 25. The movie is also included as part of the ten-disc Phase One – Avengers Assembled collectors edition.
The first couple of previews are from the ‘Assembling the team from Marvel Avengers‘ bonus feature and provide a behind-the-scenes look at creating the film, with this segment focusing on Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. head Nick Fury. The clip also features commentary on Jackson by writer/director Joss Whedon as well as fellow cast member Mark Ruffalo:
Disney/Pixar (NYSE:DIS) proudly announces the Blu-ray™ hi-def debut of Brave, the year’s #1 animated movie and Pixar Animation Studio’s 13th consecutive hit, on November 13, 2012. The New York Film Festival (September 28 – October 14, 2012) , conducted by The Film Society of Lincoln Center, has recently partially announced its slate of ‘sidebar films.’
As part of its ‘Masterworks’ series, the film festival will present Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As an added bonus, Walt Disney Animation Studios will also present John Kahr’s revolutionary short, Paperman alongside the film. The short, which takes advantage of Disney’s meander technology, is just finishing up a short run at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, where it played in front another Disney classic, Cinderella. It will debut in theaters nationwide on November 2, where it will play in front of Wreck-It Ralph.
Though it has yet to show any sign of life beyond advertisements which began a year ago at the Disney D23 Expo and subsequent home video releases, it appears the Disney Studio All Access program is still alive and kicking behind-the-scenes only now it will be known as ‘Disney Movies Anywhere.’
Not surprisingly, Disney (NYSE:DIS) has been tight-lipped on the program, which allows customers to buy a Disney title once and then play it back across all devices from anywhere. There has been nary a mention since Robert Iger stated Disney is maintaining a ‘wait and see’ attitude in response to the launch of its main competition, UltraViolet, which has been falling way short of wowing its customers thus far.
