Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed our earlier report that the ‘Sing-Along’ edition of the smash animated hit Frozen will be released on DVD and digital on November 18, 2014. As we previously announced, Disney Store has begun taking pre-orders. Amazon has also begun listing the title.
It may be debatable to call it a spoiler when the film has already been out for a week, but just in case you’re one of the few that hasn’t already seen Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters, you will probably not want to look at many of the dozens of new hi-res stills provided to us by Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios — you have been warned.
Amazon is listing Before Tomorrowland, a ‘deluxe novel’ which ‘dives into the history and ancient conspiracy behind the world of Tomorrowland with an action-packed original story.’ The publisher’s description also notes that the title is ‘perfect for fans of Tomorrowland and fans of science fiction and alternative history.’ The 288 page novel — which also includes a 20 page full-color comic insert — is currently slated to be released on April 7, 2015, just shy of two months before the film’s May 22, 2015 release date. The book is a combined effort of Brad Bird (director/co-writer/story), Damon Lindelof (co-writer/story) and Jeff Jensen (story) along with noted comics writer and illustrator, Jonathan Case.
Ahead of any official announcement, Disney Store has begun taking pre-orders for a DVD format of the Frozen: Sing-Along edition that enjoyed a theatrical run earlier this year. According to Disney Store, the DVD will be available to own on November 18, 2014.
According to the DVD’s description on the item page, it will include the full theatrical sing-along cut as well as a digital copy of the film. Also promised is an unspecified, ‘never-before-seen’ bonus.
Based on prior experiences with Disney Store, the lack of a Blu-ray version on the site does not preclude one from being available through other retailers as Disney Store has been slow to adopt the Blu-ray format.
Amazon has begun taking pre-orders for the third title in the Disney Legacy Collection, Sleeping Beauty, which will be released on October 7, 2014, in honor of the 55th anniversary of the 1959 animated classic.
The two disc set features the original songs and score from the film as well as album versions of tracks, demos and ‘lost chords’ — songs that were written for the film but were ultimately cut in various stages of production before the film made it to the big screen.
The complete track list is as follows:
As we first reported on Twitter last week, ahead of any official announcement, Amazon has begun taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray edition of ‘Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas‘ with a release date of November 4, 2014. A few days later, Walmart also began listing the title but as a 3-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo bundle of both ‘Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas’ as well as ‘Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas,’ along with the packaging seen here. It is likely that the Amazon listing is for both titles as well but it has not been updated appropriately.
Disney’s Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass begins principal photography this week, featuring an award-winning production team and all-star ensemble cast, including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
James Bobbins helms the film, which revisits Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in Time. Shooting on location and at Shepperton Studios in England, the film is slated for release on May 27, 2016.
Confirming an earlier report by Stitch Kingdom, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today announced that Maleficent will be available to own on Blu-ray, Digital and Disney Movies Anywhere on November 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order.
After enchanting audiences around the world and grossing more than $700 million in worldwide box office, this live-action, fantasy adventure casts a wondrous new spell on Blu-ray and Digital HD, featuring stunning high definition picture and sound, plus spellbinding, all-new bonus features, including several deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes that take viewers deeper behind the scenes of the filmmaking magic.
Given that the tree-like lead in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy stays true to character and speaks only three words in a specific sequence — i.e., ‘I am Groot,’ — it would probably be fascinating enough to watch and listen to actor Vin Diesel record the lines with various inflections. That just wasn’t enough for Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios, however, who have shared with us this video of Diesel recording the line, not in English, but in Brazilian Portugese, Latin American Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and French. Recorded at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Diesel sports stilts to help him get into character in the following B-roll footage. Marvel’s Doctor Strange may have taken
a back seat the trunk at Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation this past weekend, but behind the scenes, it trudges on. On Friday, July 25 (the day before the panel), Marvel filed for several trademark applications for the comic title including:
