As we reported yesterday, there is a prominent booth at the D23 Expo this weekend which will remain under cover until after today’s arena presentation covering upcoming live action films including Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland.
‘Well this is a shocker,’ said absolutely nobody when it came to Disney’s D23 Expo and Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland project’s presence there. Attendees of the D23 Expo which kicks off today will no doubt notice the massive translucently-curtained booth that shamelessly advertises which upcoming Disney project it’s there to support.
But attendees won’t be able to visit and explore it — at least not until after the Walt Disney Studios live action presentation on Saturday, in which the film will be talked about and teased by Bird who is also slated to appear at the Expo’s Dream Store for an appearance/signing as well.
Imagine if there was a way to explore every single frame of every single production from Walt Disney Feature Animation, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs through Wreck-It Ralph and beyond. Imagine if you could have the ability to take a CG model of Vanellope von Schweetz based on an import of the real one and not only easily animate her with more than a hundred points of articulation but save and share your creation with your friends and even allow them to collaborate on your animation (app required). Imagine if you could harness the power of Elsa’s magic snow from Frozen and control its every move and appearance using the same software principles as the film’s animators used.
In honor of the release of the latest trailer for Thor: The Dark World, Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have furnished us with a hi-res still from the film featuring Tom Hiddleston as Thor’s wayward brother, Loki. The still has been added to the beginning of our gallery of stills from the film embedded below. As always, click on the individual thumbnails to see a larger version and then proceed to click the resize arrow to see the image at its original resolution.
Walt Disney Studios has provided us with the new teaser trailer and some initial stills from its upcoming Muppets sequel, Muppets Most Wanted. You can see the trailer embedded below.
Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine — the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit — and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Golden Globe-, Emmy- and SAG Award®-winning actress and writer Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Emmy Award winner Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. The new film will hit the big screen March 21, 2014.
The audition will take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rehearsal Facility at the Walt Disney World Resort on Sunday, August 18, 2013 beginning at 9:00 AM with a second session beginning at 7:00 PM. Cautioning that performers should be available to begin work within the next four weeks, giving the impression that formal meet and greets may start as early as September, the advertisement suggests only those local to central Florida should consider applying.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
From the Statue of Pitty located in the heart of ‘the Big Axle,’ to the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall of China, Walt Disney Studios and Disney Toon Studios have supplied us with stills, concept art, behind-the-scenes photos and more as Dusty Crophopper darts his way around the planet in the hopes of winning the ‘Wings Around the Globe’ race.
Except that what will be in store hasn’t happened before — at least not like this. On December 10, 2013, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release the beloved 1964 classic, Mary Poppins, on Blu-ray for the first time ever. That would place its release just a few days before Saving Mr. Banks opens in limited release on December 13 and on the same day its soundtrack, with music composed by Thomas Newman, is slated to be released.
Following its presentation at San Diego Comic Con’s Hall H, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios have provided us with new title treatments and concept art for several of their upcoming projects including: Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015).
