Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will be bringing the ‘Spike Lee Joint’ collection of films to Blu-ray for the first time on June 10, 2014. As an added literal bonus, the films will feature all new audio commentary by Lee as well as talent from the respective films along with classic bonus content. Details are as follows:
Walt Disney Records and Vevo today debuted the music video for ‘I’ll Get You What You Want (Cockatoo in Malibu)’ performed by songwriter and Oscar winner Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords, from the original motion picture soundtrack now available from Amazon and iTunes. In addition, the track is also being made available as a free bonus download when you purchase a ticket in advance for the film from Fandango.
In the film (and on the soundtrack), the song is performed by Constantine in an attempt to win over Miss Piggy by promising her virtually anything she dreams of.
Walt Disney Studios and Disneynature have provided us with nearly a dozen new hi-res stills from their upcoming film, Bears, which focuses on Sky and her cubs, Scout and Amber. The new stills also introduce us to Chinook and Magnus as well as a wolf who goes by the name of Tikaani.
She had wings once, she explained to Aurora in the newest trailer for Maleficent — they were taken from her. And now a new promo for the film (May 30, 2014), titled ‘Evil is Complicated’ features a small amount of new footage including this scene in which Maleficent is forced to come to terms with having her wings removed — presumably by force. You can find the new promo embedded below.
Earlier today, IMAX and Walt Disney Studios cemented their distribution agreement by announcing that several films beyond Captain America: The Winter Soldier will also debut in IMAX format. Films for the remainder of 2014 include Maleficent (May 30) and Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1).
In 2015, planned releases include Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1), Tomorrowland (May 22) and Star Wars: Episode VII (December 18).
In addition, IMAX recently previewed its exclusive 13″ x 19″ mini poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that will be handed out to those that attend the midnight screenings when the film opens. We have included it here in much larger resolution (see left).
In honor of the release of the full length trailer for Maleficent (May 30, 2014), Walt Disney Studios has provided us with two new high-res stills from Maleficent, in theaters May 30, 2014. The new stills have been added to the beginning of our gallery embedded below.
Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
In honor of today’s Blu-ray release of Frozen (with a still unconfirmed release of the 3D Blu-ray in October), Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Disney Movies Anywhere released this featurette focusing on co-directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho, art director Michael Giaimo and others as they explore the Frozen suite at the Hotel de Glace in Quebec City, Canada. Long before the creation of the suite, however, the hotel itself was crucial to the animation process for Frozen as it served as reference material for the way light was reflected against the ice creations.
Walt Disney Studios and Muppets Studio have recently released a new clip from their upcoming film, Muppets Most Wanted (March 21, 2014), titled ‘Meet the Manager.’ In the clip, which you can find embedded below, Dominic Badguy introduces himself to the recently re-united Muppets clan and offers up a proposal they simply can’t refuse … or can they? No, they can’t.
As part of its annual tribute to Oscar winners (and sometimes nominees), Mondo has announced it will be releasing its poster for Frozen by artist Tom Whalen at a random time tomorrow, March 18, 2014 (usually between 10 am – 12 pm ET, but never guaranteed). Those interested in attempting to grab a copy are advised to follow @MondoNews on Twitter for the on-sale announcement.
Known to sell out in mere seconds, the Mondo poster series entry for Frozen is limited to an edition size of just 440 pieces. It measures 24″ x 36″ and will retail for $50. For those that miss the opportunity tomorrow, there are no guarantees, but Whalen sometimes sells artist proof variants at his online store at a later date.
