‘Monsters University’ New Viral Ads Promote Campus Life, Share New Footage
A couple of new viral ads have been released in support of Pixar Animation Studios’ Monsters University, in theaters on June 18. One of the ads in particular comes very close to sharing some of the new footage previously shown in the Japan trailer, which includes visits to the Monsters. Inc Scare Floor. Disneynature’s ‘Wings of Life’ on Blu-ray in April; Includes Sneak Peek at 2014′s ‘Bears’
Disneynature’s Wings of Life, will be available to own domestically on Blu-ray, Digital and On Demand beginning April 16, 2013, it was announced today by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. It’s now available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
Narrated by Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep and directed by Louie Schwartzberg, Wings of Life takes a spectacular, closer-than-close, high-definition look at the intricate world of butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and bats, and their life-sustaining collaboration with flowers. It has previously been released internationally under the title Pollen.
Below is a look at the film as well as its director from a previous presentation from the 2011 TED conference:
Employing multiple cameras, both time-lapse and high-speed cinematography and extraordinary patience (while nature took its time unfolding), filmmakers shot on location in more than a dozen areas, ranging from the El Rosario Preserve in Michoacán, Mexico, to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Park in Arizona. Wings of Life features extraordinary imagery shot with digital cameras — one capable of frame rates of up to 1500 frames per second, and the use of a pinhole lens, which allowed the cameraman to get within millimeters of an insect subject while retaining a clear view of the background. The resulting imagery — intimate and breathtaking — is brought to life for audiences through spectacular high-definition picture and sound quality.
To celebrate the debut of Wings of Life, Disneynature has made a contribution to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) to protect pollinators worldwide. The DWCF has already supported more than 20 projects across North America focused on protecting pollinators and their habitats. Grants have helped conservationists save endangered butterflies, expand habitat for honeybees and educate children about the importance of pollinators and how they can help protect them.
The Wings of Life Blu-ray Combo Pack also includes a sneak peek at Disneynature’s 2014 big-screen adventure Bears. In an epic story of breathtaking scale set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, the film, which is currently in production, follows two mother grizzly bears as they impart life lessons to their impressionable young cubs.

‘Monsters University’ Japanese Trailer Shows Young Mike Wazowski, Plot Points
It’s in Japanese (naturally), but this version of the trailer for Disney/Pixar’s upcoming film Monsters University gives a whole new dimension to the story we’ve come to know so far. In it, we see a very young Mike Wazowski in an apparent field trip to the Scare Floor at Monsters Inc. in which young Mike receives a gift that starts to shape his entire future.
There are also additional scenes which Mike appears to meet Sulley for the first time, as well as the scene in which Dean Hardscrabble (voiced by Helen Mirren) appears to be kicking the future pals out of the esteemed Scarer program.

‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ New Stills Feature Kansas Characters (Minor Spoilers)
We have just a few more days before Oz the Great and Powerful debuts in theaters nationwide on March 8, 2013 and so far we’ve seen plenty of images of the mystical land and its inhabitants. Today, Walt Disney Studios has decided to share with us stills of a couple of characters from Oscar Digg/Oz’s world in Kansas, where he performs in the traveling Baum Brothers Circus. While we have a photo of the sideshow Strongman (portrayed by Tim Holmes), we also have a photo of a young lady who bears a striking resemblance to actress Joey King. How’s that? You know how the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz ends (the book itself does not share the same ending in the slightest), so it’s only fair that you know just how this prequel begins. It’s already been shared that Zach Braff, who voices Finley, also serves as Oz’s assistant in Kansas. In fact, there may be even another friendly face or two in the opening scenes, so you’ll want to keep an eye out.
The new stills have been added to the beginning of our gallery below. As always, click on any of the thumbnails to enlarge and the resize arrows on the larger image to view it at its original resolution.
Oz The Great and Powerful imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot — fame and fortune are his for the taking — that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry — Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
