In the Disney Channel original movie, Teen Beach Movie, teen surfers McKenzie and Brady are magically transported into a 1960’s beach movie. They figure they just need to blend in until they can find a way to get back home. However, blending isn’t easily done when everyone around them routinely breaks into song and dance seemingly for no reason. And when they accidentally interfere with the plot of the movie and make the romantic leads Tanner and Lela fall for them instead, it looks like they might be stuck for good.
When it comes to releasing animated classics from Walt Disney Animation Studios, there appears to be little to no rhyme or reason for the release order and timing — at times it’s just downright mayhem. When Blu-ray releases seem to conveniently coincide with a release date anniversary milestone, such as Mulan’s 15th, and touted as such, it often makes consumers wonder why some films seem to have been forgotten.
Enter Lilo & Stitch which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2012. Unfortunately the year came and went without any fanfare save for a respectable mention at D23’s national ‘Fanniversary’ events. In 2013, however, 11 years after the film’s release, the tides are apparently about to turn.
IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and The Walt Disney Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), today announced an agreement to produce and distribute the latest IMAX® 3D cinematic space spectacle from acclaimed filmmaker Toni Myers, who has been crafting mind-blowing movie experiences for IMAX audiences for more than 40 years.
Myers’ upcoming 3D film, which is still untitled, will use IMAX’s extremely high-resolution photography and videography to offer breathtaking, illuminating views of our home planet from space, exploring the astonishing changes that have occurred on Earth in just the past several decades.
Admittedly we’ve sounded the alarm for the dual movie pack of Atlantis: The Lost Empire/Atlantis: Milo’s Return before, but this time we’re almost certain it’s going to happen. Ahead of any official announcement (which is expected later today if the pattern holds), Amazon.com has begun accepting pre-orders for the movie/sequel pair on Blu-ray for a release date of June 11, 2013. This was not the case when we believed it to be released alongside of Mulan, Brother Bear and Hunchback of Notre Dame and their respective sequels earlier this year.
A Twitter user by the name of @gavinthomas2015 has shared a couple of images from the set of Disney’s Muppets… Again with several Muppet-oriented websites including Tough Pigs. It’s not known at this time whether the release of the images was done with the blessings of Walt Disney Studios, but for the time being, please enjoy.
IMAGES REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF WALT DISNEY STUDIOS
The first image features the film’s villain and Kermit-double Constantine alongside Tina Fey as feisty prison guard Nadya.
Also sent along for the ride is this image of Gonzo in costume, seemingly taking a breather behind the camera.
Pictured on top of the ‘Suit Up’ Tony Stark Minimate figure which will be one of four figures exclusive to Toys ‘R’ Us, packaged along with a to-be-revealed figure. The ‘Suit Up’ figure is sporting part of the Mark 42 armor which can be summoned and controlled via mental link in the film, as evidened in the trailer. The boots and gauntlets will be removable and Tony will also come with regular hands and shoes.
As we first reported on Twitter back in January, the marketing machine for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University continues to go viral while keeping it organic to the film’s content. This time around, it’s a Tumblr account known as MUGrumblr.
The Grumblr account purports to be maintained by a ‘Monstropolis transplant’ and ‘self-diagnosed coffee addict’ who is currently a sophomore at the prestigious University and is filled with all sorts of memes, animated GIFs, faux-Instagram photos and other updates on school activities and sports.
You can check it all out for yourself and follow along at mugrumblr.tumblr.com.

A couple of new viral ads have been released in support of Pixar Animation Studios’ Monsters University, in theaters on June 18. One of the ads in particular comes very close to sharing some of the new footage previously shown in the Japan trailer, which includes visits to the Monsters. Inc Scare Floor. Mostly, however, the ads promote campus life with the school of scaring in particular.
