While we’re waiting for Tom Hanks to make Toy Story 4, Walt Disney Studios and Muppet Studios has released a brand new music video for ‘We’re Doing A Sequel’ from the Muppets Most Wanted soundtrack, available to own on March 18, 2014 (now available for pre-order). On the soundtrack, the song — which was written by Flight of the Conchords member Bret McKenzie — includes a performance with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.
Walt Disney Records has confirmed to us that they are planning to re-release the original The Muppet Movie soundtrack on vinyl this April 19, 2014 for Record Store Day. This will be a vinyl edition of the soundtrack re-released on CD in 2013, featuring all new liner notes by songwriter Paul Williams. That re-release itself was tied to the 35th anniversary of the film.
For Record Store Day, Disney had previously released identity-disc-inspired variants of Daft Punk’s TRON Legacy.
Making its public debut at the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York City is the new Muppets collection by Madame Alexander in support of the new film, Muppets Most Wanted (March 21, 2014). This represents the first time in several years that Madame Alexander has produced anything Muppets related and the first time they have produced hand puppets based on the property.
Being delivered soon to Gold Members, the spring 2014 issue of Disney twenty-three pays homage to the 1964–65 World’s Fair in New York — a time of optimism, growth, and progress. The Fair, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, marked the creation of landmark Disney technology, music, and attractions including it’s a small world, Audio-Animatronics® technology, ‘Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,’ and ‘Progressland’ /aka/ the ‘Carousel of Progress,’ with its iconic anthem, ‘There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.’ For the issue, Disney twenty-three sat down with several Disney Legends responsible for these iconic landmarks including Marty Sklar, Alice Davis, and Bob Gurr. Stunning concept art and rarely seen photography from the World’s Fair complement the stories in this issue, available exclusively to Gold Members of D23.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, not to mention a clever follow-up to yesterday’s news of Piggy’s wedding dress and the ‘Two Kermits’ promo comes ‘Two Women.’ Apparently Piggy isn’t the only femme fatale who has her heart set on Kermit in the upcoming film Muppets Most Wanted (in theaters on March 21, 2014). You can find the new promo embedded below.
Miss Piggy is back on the big screen, starring in Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted, which follows the Muppets on a grand, star-studded tour throughout Europe. The European setting screamed romance to Miss Piggy, who’s been trying to convince her favorite frog to tie the knot for years. But what will the divine diva don for the all-new film, which hits theaters on March 21, 2014? Vivienne Westwood was commissioned to create couture designs for the fashion icon, including a white dress that would be perfect for a wedding — if one should actually take place.
Walt Disney Studios has provided us with a couple of new stills from its upcoming Muppets movie, Muppets Most Wanted (March 21, 2014), which we have added to our gallery of images embedded below. The new stills focus on Kermit look-alike Constantine and his number two, Dominic Badguy.
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios UK, we have our first clip from the upcoming Pixar Monsters University short, ‘Party Central,’ which will play ahead of Muppets Most Wanted in theaters on March 21, 2014.
In the short, Mike and Sulley return to Monsters University for a fun-filled weekend with their Oozma Kappa fraternity brothers. The gang is throwing their first party, but no one’s showing up. Luckily for them, Mike and Sulley have come with a plan to make sure ‘Party Central’ is the most epic party the school has ever seen.
Tickets went on sale earlier this evening for the annual New York International Children’s Film Festival in New York City today and, continuing their gracious participation, Disney is allowing the festival to screen Muppets Most Wanted on March 15, almost a full week before it debuts in theaters. In addition to the early screening of the sequel, the festival is offering a screening of the previous 2011 film, The Muppets, but as a special sing-along edition with guest Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords, who wrote the songs for both films.
There are certain inalienable truths in life, one of which is that there can be only one Kermit the Frog. Event the world’s most evilest villain, Constantine, can’t approach the purity, the sanctity that is Kermit — certainly not with his heavy, thick accent and mole. Right?
Truth be told, Walt Disney Studios has already hinted at some strange goings-on in The Muppets Most Wanted, most notably with the wedding scene, but this new ad for Muppets Most Wanted, titled ‘New Mission’ pretty much just lays it all out on the metaphorical table. Somehow, someway, Constantine and Kermit have become completely indiscernible — at least physically. So when Piggy meets Kermit at the altar, who is she really marrying? We just may have to wait until March 21, 2014 to find out (or at least until the books are released on February 11).
