The months-long question ‘am I a man or am I a Muppet?’ has finally been answered and it’s a resounding BOTH! It’s time to Muppet Up in ‘Disney Universe’ for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as Disney Interactive Studios has released the much anticipated Muppets downloadable content (DLC) pack on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Stitch Kingdom are proud to offer the opportunity for one of our readers to win a free copy of the Wocka Wocka edition of Disney’s The Muppets on Disney Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack with free digital soundtrack download, available to own on March 20, 2012 (now available for pre-order.
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze Muppet Studios and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the studio, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
Disney’s The Muppets Blu-ray Combo Pack, with its flawless picture and pitch perfect sound, comes with a fantastic slate of bonus content including the laugh out loud “The Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History––We Think).” The exciting release also includes the hilarious featurette “A Little Screen Test on the Way to the Read Through,” which follows Jason Segel, Kermit, The Great Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and others as they get ready for the first day of production, and much more fun.
Additional fun-filled features on Disney’s The Muppets Blu-ray include a groundbreaking industry first — ‘Disney Intermission,’ a hilarious all-new feature that allows viewers to press Pause on their remote control and watch as the Muppets take over the screen and entertain until the movie resumes playing. The release also includes “Explaining Evil: The Full Tex Richman Song,” an extended version of the rollicking rap song by villain Tex Richman (Academy Award® winner Chris Cooper) who provides the hilarious backstory of why he hates the Muppets. The extended version of the song is included on the digital soundtrack and features Disney Music Group Tenor, Nathan Pacheco. Audio commentaries with screenwriter and star Jason Segel, director James Bobin and screenwriter Nicholas Stoller are also included.

Not a dry eye was in the house, as Miss Piggy — dressed by Zac Posen with shoes by Christian Louboutin, jewelry by Fred Leighton and hair by Kim Kimble — and long-time partner Kermit the Frog took to the red carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards held this evening where they will be presenting, marking the fifth appearance by the Muppets on the telecast. The Muppets was nominated and won for a ‘Best Song’ for ‘Man or Muppet’ written by Bret McKenzie.
As the Disney Fantasy makes its Transatlantic voyage to Pier 88 in Manhattan, where it will be christened on March 1, Disney Cruise Line has been releasing a series of video blogs with Cruise Directors Brent Davies and Ray Smale. Until now, the reality has been that the videos have all been apparently produced before the ship set sail (and who can blame them with such poor internet connectivity in the middle of the Atlantic?) and haven’t really contained any new information. That all changed, however, with yesterday’s entry which not only looks at some of the new Enchanted Art exclusive to the Disney Fantasy, but a decent first look at the Muppet Midship Detective Agency, also exclusive to the ship.
Expected to be available in their brick-and-mortar stores beginning February 28, Build-A-Bear Workshop has just released its Kermit and Miss Piggy Muppet plush as online exclusives, available now and for a limited time.

The Kermit tee (featured here) is green and features Kermit’s name along with ‘the original hip-hop;’ Gonzo’s tee is in blue and features his name along with ‘the great;’ Animal’s tee is in black and features his name along with ‘wild one!;’ and Fozzie’s tee (incorrectly spelled as Fozzy) is also black and features his trademark line, ‘wocka! wocka!’

Disney Cruise Line today debuted this video which goes behind-the-scenes at the making of the Midship Detective Agency interactive game on the Disney Fantasy. In the game, which takes advantage of the Enchanted Art displays — much like its counterpart already in place aboard sister ship Disney Dream — Pepe the King Prawn offers to take on detective duties to help Kermit and the rest of the Muppets find the missing props for their big performance. Kermit, worried about Pepe’s lack of detective skills, turns to the guests for help.
Walt Disney Records has posted a music video for ‘Man or Muppet’ as it appears on the original motion picture soundtrack for Disney’s The Muppets (still available for just $4.99).
The music video, which uses clips directly from the film, features both Gary (Jason Segel) and Walter as they question and reflect (both literally and figuratively) on their place in life. Also featured is Jim Parsons of CBS’ ‘The Big Bang Theory’ who plays the human alter ego of Walter.
‘Man or Muppet’ was written by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords.
Dressed for the colder weather (read: completely naked save for a scarf), Kermit the Frog of the Muppets was on-hand yesterday evening to assist with the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, DC.
Hosted by Carson Daly, the ceremony also featured performances by OneRepublic, Rodney Atkins, Marsha Ambrosius and Big Time Rush. Kermit joined First Lady Michelle Obama as she read a story to the attending children.
The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony marks the opening of the four-week event sponsored by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s National Parks.
