Into the Woods on Blu-rayWalt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released a new clip from one of the bonus features for the Blu-ray and digital release of Into the Woods, available to own on March 24, 2015 (now available for pre-order). The clip features Meryl Streep as The Witch performing ‘She’ll Be Back,’ an original song written by Stephen Sondheim for the film. In the song, The Witch laments Rapunzel’s decision to leave her and run off with the prince, but she is convinced Rapunzel will return once she comes to her senses. As we detail below, the full length of the bonus feature/song (which also features an introduction by director Rob Marshall) is just over 4 1/2 minutes long.

‘Frozen Fever’ Short Details on New Characters, New Music (Major Spoilers)

With just a couple of weeks to go before the release of Cinderella (March 13, 2015), Walt Disney Animation Studios has provided us with a wealth of information and details for the short that precedes it, Frozen Fever. In Frozen Fever, it’s Anna’s birthday (which falls on the summer solstice as Elsa’s is the winter solstice) and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk. And if you’re one of everyone who saw the trailer for the seven minute short that was released yesterday, you know there’s a lot more to Elsa’s simple plans.

WATCH: ‘Into the Woods’ Blu-ray Trailer Featuring Deleted Song, ‘She’ll Be Back’

Although the bulk of the ad isn’t anything to particularly crow about, it does feature a snippet (read: one bar) of Meryl Streep as The Witch, performing ‘She’ll Be Back’ (‘when she knows who to trust’), an original song written by Stephen Sondheim for the film.

WATCH: ‘Frozen Fever’ Trailer Featuring First Footage

Earlier this morning on ‘Good Morning America,’ Walt Disney Animation Studios’ premiered its ‘trailer’ for Frozen Fever, which will play in front of the live-action Cinderella (March 13, 2015) in theaters. You can find the trailer embedded below. The trailer also features a glimpse of the little snowmen that will also be featured in upcoming merchandise promoting the film.

  • Streep Sings Sondheim – ‘She’ll Be Back’ (4:35) – Meryl Streep performs a compelling new song that sheds a little more light on the Witch’s relationship with Rapunzel. This never-before- seen composition was penned especially for this movie by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, and is seen here exclusively on Blu-ray and EHV.  With introduction by Director Rob Marshall.

‘Into the Woods’ Blu-ray Bonus Features Complete List

'Into the Woods' Theatrical PosterAhead of any official announcement, the British Board of Film Classification has enumerated the bonus features we can expect to see on Into the Woods when it hits Blu-ray and DVD, although to those following news closely, there won’t be too many surprises, just a few new details. Amazon had begun listing Into the Woods with a release date of March 24, 2015 on Blu-ray and DVD, but has since backed off that date. An official announcement from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has yet to be made regarding the release.

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel — all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
