Following yesterday’s news that IDW would be publishing an Artist’s Edition of Carl Barks’s ‘Uncle Scrooge,’ IDW Publishing kicked off the first official day of New York Comic-Con with an additional Artist’s Editions announcement — this time Marvel.
Bandai Namco today announced the upcoming worldwide launch of ‘Star Wars: Battle Pod,’ a high-speed arcade game set in the Star Wars galaxy. Featuring arcade-exclusive gameplay on a unique dome screen enveloping your entire area of sight, ‘Star Wars: Battle Pod’ will first be available with a U.S. launch in January 2015 at participating arcades around the country. For those in the New York City area who don’t wish to wait to check out the game, it will be on display at Dave and Buster’s in Times Square through November 2.
New York Comic-Con and ABC Studios have just announced that a special screening and panel will be offered on Friday, October 10, from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm on the Empire Stage. The panel’s official description is as follows:

Walt Disney Animation Studios presents an exclusive look at their follow-up to last year’s Frozen, Big Hero 6 (November 7, 2014) with directors Don Hall and Chris Williams, producer Roy Conli and special guests. We already know that Scott Adsit, voice of Baymax, will be attending the Comic-Con for other purposes, so it’s likely he too will join the presentation.
On Sunday, October 13, Disney Publishing Worldwide will formally announce its upcoming graphic novel series, Space Mountain, based on the classic, iconic attraction found in Disney theme parks around the world.
Written by ‘Arrow’ and Spider-Man writer Bryan Q Miller and illustrated by Batman artist Kelley Jones and Hi-Fi Design, Space Mountain is described as ‘the story of two kids, a miniature flying saucer and dangerous mission twenty-four hours into a twisted tomorrow.’
eFX Inc. has announced that in commemoration of the series premiere of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ on the ABC television network, it will be producing an exclusive NYCC limited edition line of a personalized S.H.I.E.L.D. ID cards and badge set, available exclusively to attendees of New York Comic-Con.
The metal badge is made from the original master molds of the screen-used badge and the ID card is made from the original digital files. It comes in a real leather ID wallet, which is embossed with the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem. In addition to the replica of this incredible prop, the NYCC-exclusive convention edition includes a personalized S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent ID card.
Moderated by Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist), the star-studded panel for Marvel’s The Avengers from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios was arguably the highlight of the 2011 New York Comic-Con, which took place this past weekend. Taking place in the IGN Theatre, the approximately 2,000 seat hall was filled to capacity with a large standby line hours before the presentation. With many Avangers fans lining up when the doors opened to get in at 11 am, announcements began going out around 3 pm advising attendees that if they leave the room, they will not be able to return due to the demand.
