'The Pirate Fairy' on Disney Blu-rayWalt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released a new clip from its upcoming film from DisneyToon Studios, The Pirate Fairy, available to own on April 1, 2014 (pre-order). The new clip, which you can find embedded below, features the film’s theme song, ‘Who I Am’ as performed by pop singer Natasha Bedingfield. The film also features Bedingfield’s ‘Weightless (Less Is More Version),’ which had been used in the scratch recording of the film and was enjoyed so much by the filmmakers, director Peggy Holmes opted to make it permanent.

Tinker Bell’s ‘The Pirate Fairy’ Clip: ‘Experiments’

Zarina and James (Captain Hook) in 'The Pirate Fairy'Via Walt Disney Studios UK, here is the first full length trailer for DisneyToon’s newest Pixie Hollow adventure, The Pirate Fairy, starring Christina Hendricks and Tom Hiddleston.

When a misunderstood dust-keeper fairy named Zarina (Hendricks) steals Pixie Hollow’s all-important Blue Pixie Dust, and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to return it to its rightful place. However, in the midst of their pursuit of Zarina, Tink’s world is turned upside down. She and her friends find that their respective talents have been switched and they have to race against time to retrieve the Blue Pixie Dust and return home to save Pixie Hollow.

‘Sword in the Stone,’ ‘Robin Hood,’ ‘Return to Never Land’ Among August Blu-ray Releases (UPDATED)

Ahead of any official announcements, multiple etailers have begun listing several Disney animated classics (and neo-classics) for a release date on Blu-ray of August 6, 2013. (NOTE: Return to Never Land has now been given an August 20 release date).

Amongst the releases scheduled are Return to Neverland Special Edition, Sword in the Stone 50th Anniversary Edition and Robin Hood 40th Anniversary Edition. No information on bonus features is currently available but we will update as it becomes available to us.

Also of note being listed for an August 6 release is the Disney Channel animated special, Pixie Hollow Games Pixie Party Edition.

Disney Accounts for Nearly 25% of Animated Films to be Considered for Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that 21 films have been submitted for consideration for the Animated Feature Film category for the 85th Academy Awards. Among the films submitted are Disney/Pixar’s Brave, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, DisneyToon’s Secret of the Wings and Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Wreck-It Ralph.

Films from other studios that have been submitted for nomination consideration are:

The 21 submitted features, listed in alphabetical order by title, are: Adventures in Zambezia, Delhi Safari, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, From Up on Poppy Hill, Hey Krishna, Hotel Transylvania, Ice Age Continental Drift, A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, The Mystical Laws, The Painting, ParaNorman, The Pirates! REPORT: Tinker Bell and Periwinkle Open Ice Skating Rink at Disneyland Resort (Video/Photos)

In honor of the Disney 3D Blu-ray release of Secret of the Wings starring Tinker Bell and the rest of her Pixie Hollow friends, the Disneyland Resort has decided to bring some winter magic of its own to Southern California and open a temporary outdoor skating rink in the heart of its Downtown Disney District.

Last night, a grand opening ceremony was held in which Disneyland Ambassador Rene Toricco played emcee and welcomed everyone to the event. Also speaking at the event were Vice President of Resorts and Downtown Disney Daniel Delcourt and Downtown Disney’s General Manager Janet Knox and filmmakers Peggy Holmes and Michael Wigert — along with a special appearance by Tinker Bell and newly reunited twin Periwinkle, of course.

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: ‘Secret of the Wings’ Premiere in New York City

Tinker Bell and her sister Periwinkle took to the Mainland earlier today to play host to the premiere of Secret of the Wings in New York City. The fairy twins —  born of the same baby’s laugh — graciously welcomed some of the cast and crew from the film along with local celebrities and their families.

In attendance were Mae Whitman (Tinker Bell), Anjelica Huston (Queen Clarion), Timothy Dalton (Lord Milori), Raven Symone (Iridessa), Matt Lanter (Sled) and filmmakers Peggy Holmes and Michael Wigert. Joining them were Disney Channel star Debby Ryan, celebrity stylist Ken Paves, Miss USA Oliva Culpo, Kerry Butler, Mike Tyson, Clare Foley, Alexis Welch, Faith Wladyka, Brent Zachery and more.
