Burbank, July 29, 2009 — In an exclusive Radio Disney Take Over with “PONYO” co-stars Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas on Monday, July 27, the duo joined “Ernie D” in studio and talked about how they first met, dished tips from their famous family members and shared behind-the-scenes details from their upcoming movie.

Frankie told “Ernie D” that the co-stars, recording duo and friends met a few years ago, saying, “First, a long time ago, we actually became friends on iChat.” Noah added, “Miley and Nick were talking and I walked by…”

Noah, 9, and Frankie, 8, who also recorded the movie’s theme song and music video together, shared some words of wisdom from their successful family members that have helped them in their singing and acting endeavors. Noah told “Ernie D” both her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus and her older sister, Miley Cyrus, have given her pointers, saying, “He also does it on the singing, but he also helps me on the guitar… She taught me to always have fun with it.” Frankie told “Ernie D” his famous older brothers, Joe, Nick and Kevin of the Jonas Brothers, told him to “just go by the lines. Do exactly what they say.”

Disney at San Diego Comic-Con, Day Two: Disney Animation Panel

89133369 EC55 300x200 Disney at San Diego Comic Con, Day Two: Disney Animation PanelAlso led by Patton Oswalt, the Disney Animation Panel brought together several of the directors from Walt Disney Animation, Disney/Pixar and even Japan’s legendary animated filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

A lot of the focus of the panel appears to have been on Ponyo and the upcoming Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D double-feature and – of course – Toy Story 3.

Attendees were shown clips from Toy Story 2 in 3D as well as a preview of Prep & Landing, the first television special produced for ABC by Walt Disney Animation Studios, coming later this year.

While it had already been announced that Beauty and the Beast would be re-released in 3D format for Valentine’s Day, 2010, attendees were treated to a scene from the film.

John Musker and Ron Clements, co-directors of The Princess and the Frog were on hand to introduce a scene from their upcoming film. To coincide with this, Disney has also released this special footage showing some pencil-test animation from the film:

D23 Invites 50 Guests to Special Screening of Ponyo at the El Capitan Theater (Sold Out)

Fifty D23 Members will be among the first to see Ponyo, at the July 27 exclusive screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s breathtaking animated film Ponyo, which will arrive in theaters in limited release on August 14. The masterfully told and gorgeously realized film tells the unforgettable story about a young, independent-minded goldfish named Ponyo, who breaks away from her undersea home in hopes of becoming a human girl.

At Comic-Con, Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter Lead Animation Panel While Walt Disney Studios Holds First Ever 3D Panel

BURBANK, Calif. — Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts ALICE IN WONDERLAND, TRON and DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and animated gems THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, PONYO and the TOY STORY trilogy.

Zemeckis, Burton, Miyazaki and Lasseter will take part in industry panels.

* COMIC-CON’S FIRST EVER 3D PANEL — Veteran directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton join TRON producers Sean Bailey and Steve Lisberger on Thurs., July 23 at 11 a.m. for an unprecedented presentation featuring behind-the-scenes filmmaker insights about the highly anticipated 3D adventures DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, ALICE IN WONDERLAND and TRON. In addition to Q&A opportunities with each of the filmmakers, the 90-minute panel will feature never-before-seen concept art, trailers, actual 3D film footage and other Comic-Con-only footage debuts. In a groundbreaking technical feat, this is the first time ever that 3D footage will be shown at Comic-Con. Patton Oswalt will moderate.

Disney’s ‘Ponyo’ to close L.A. Film Festival

ponyo 1sheet 202x300 Disneys Ponyo to close L.A. Film FestivalVariety is reporting that Disney’s star-studded, English-dubbed version of Hayao Miyazaki’s film will be closing the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 28.

The movie whose plot is loosely based on that of The Little Mermaid is set to be released nationwide on August 14.
