In celebration of the upcoming release on May 20th of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the next installment in the hugely popular film franchise, directed by Rob Marshall, Walt Disney Studios announced today special “Pirates Day” fan events, fun-filled celebrations of all things “Pirates,” which will include advance 3D fan screenings of the film. The events will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in and around the Hot Topic stores in Hollywood, Calif., and Paramus, N.J.
The “Pirates Day” events are part of a month-long takeover of Hot Topic’s 650 stores nationwide to provide an immersive “Pirates of the Caribbean” retail environment, making Hot Topic an exciting retail destination for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” merchandise. Disney Consumer Products will have an impressive retail presence in Hot Topic stores across the country with Pirates of the Caribbean shirts, jewelry and accessories.
The Hollywood event, held in and around Hot Topic’s flagship store at the Hollywood & Highland complex, showcases a newly launched “Pirates”-themed experience, including the hull of a pirate ship seemingly crashing into the main courtyard. Starting at 4 p.m., fans of all ages will enjoy an exciting afternoon, featuring live pirates performers, toy demo stations, trivia giveaways, special photo opportunities and a chance to see real props and costumes used in the film. Fans are encouraged to come early and dressed in their best “Pirates” costumes for a chance to win incredible prizes in the Ultimate Fan Contest and have an opportunity to secure VIP seating at the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides advance fan screening, presented in RealD 3D at the El Capitan Theatre.
The East Coast fan event will be held at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, N.J. The fun and games start at 1 p.m. and as with the West Coast event, fans will enjoy interactive entertainment, giveaways and photo opportunities, plus the chance to see a giant ship-in-a-bottle statement installation adjacent to the Hot Topic store. Similarly, those who come early and dressed as pirates have a chance to win amazing treasure and a VIP seat for the screening, presented in IMAX® 3D.
The “Pirates Day” celebrations include prizes and interactive fun provided by several promotional partners, including toymaker JAKKS Pacific, the licensed provider of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides action-figure toys and playsets featuring a special black light reveal; Pirate’s Booty, makers of all-natural snacks including a limited edition “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” 7oz package; Walt Disney Records, releasing the original motion picture soundtrack on May 17th, and OPI; whose limited-edition nail lacquers showcase the colors and atmosphere of mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure, and high-seas adventure featured in the film.

PHOTOS: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ World Premiere at Disneyland (Hi-Res)
Hollywood’s biggest stars came out to the Happiest Place on Earth in full force on May 7 to celebrate the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Productions and we were there to capture some of the magic taking place around the Disneyland theme park. Thousands of Disneyland guests lined Main Street U.S.A. and the 3,000 foot-long ‘black carpet’ to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars from the film, along with Disney Channel stars, ‘American Idol’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast and alum and many more A-listers from the worlds of film, television and music.
Talent from the film appearing included Penélope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Kevin R. McNally, Keith Richards, Robbie Kay, Greg Ellis, Ian Mercer, Derek Mears, Danny LeBoyer, Damian O’Hare, Daphne Joy, Sanya Hughes, Breanne Beth Berrett, Antoinette Nikprelaj, Toni Busker, Jorgelina Airaldi and, of course, Captain Jack Sparrow himself, Johnny Depp.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Dozens of Even More New Stills and Behind-the-Scenes Photos
It must be a day that ends in Y because we have been sent dozens of new beautiful hi-res stills and amazing behind-the-scenes images from the fourth installment of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, On Stranger Tides, which sails into theaters on May 20.

Australian Authorities Smokin’ Mad Over ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Ad
As they say, as long as your name is spelled right, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Walt Disney Studios has posted the following news report on YouTube in which the Melbourne Fire Brigade recently responded to calls about smoke stemming from high atop a billboard advertising Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It turned out to be a false alarm, however, as the reported smoke was the product of intentionally placed fog machines to simulate smoke drifting out of the barrels of the two guns being held by Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Photos: Johnny Depp Screens ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ for Oprah Audience
Walt Disney Studios announced that today “The Oprah Winfrey Show’s” studio audience in Chicago, IL, enjoyed a surprise visit from actor Johnny Depp, followed by an advance special screening of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in which Depp stars for the fourth time as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.
The audience members were treated to the ultimate “Harpo Hook-Up” as they were the first moviegoers in the world to view Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, presented in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp was on hand at the movie theatre to greet and welcome the “Oprah” show’s excited fans to the unprecedented event.
The highly anticipated action-filled adventure, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, also stars Penélope Cruz, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush, and sails into theatres on May 20, 2011.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Clips: ‘The Mutiny’ with Blackbeard and ‘Kings Men’
As if the first look at Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague, in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides wasn’t enough news today, we now get treated to our second clip from the upcoming summer blockbuster from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer.
This time around, it’s the film’s introduction of the ruthless Blackbeard, the pirate all pirates fear, portrayed by Ian McShane. Finding himself on board the Queen Anne’s Revenge courtesy of former flame and daughter of Blackbeard, Angelica (Penelope Cruz), Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) decides that the best course of action would be staging a mutiny, a tactic he all too familiar with (albeit generally on the other end). That is, until the Captain decides to weigh in on the matter.
… ‘I can name fingers and point names.’
In the next clip, ‘King’s Men,’ Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), now a member of the British Royal Navy, informs his appointed crew, including Mr. Gibbs, that they are headed for Whitecap Bay in search of mermaids. Which of course is bound to entice any sailor, no?

First Look: Keith Richards as Captain Teague in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’
Music legend Keith Richards returns in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as Captain Teague, the estranged father of Captain Jack Sparrow. Just in time for Mother’s Day, Walt Disney Studios has provided us with this first look of Teague in the new film which will be in theaters nationwide on May 20, 2011.

Swarovski Introduces Jewelry Inspired by ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’
Following the success of the Spring/Summer 2010 Alice in Wonderland collection, this brand new collection features designs that are closely linked to key characters and icons of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Also included in the collection are carefully crafted replicas of pieces worn by the main characters interpreted by Penélope Cruz and Johnny Depp in the movie.
“We had great fun searching for the typical and symbolic codes of the Pirates of the Caribbean‘ universe. Without being clichéd, we looked for a way to interpret symbols and figurative motifs in a modern way that is always the signature of Swarovski collections. The overall twist is a modern ‘rock-inspired,’ edgy collection,” says Nathalie Colin, Swarovski Creative Director.
With a gothic influence and a vintage touch, black pearls, skulls and swords are the stars of the four lines in this creative Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired collection, which has been designed to appeal to both men and women alike.
The “Angelica” family is inspired, and named after, the character played by Penélope Cruz. Echoing her swordswoman skills and taste for adventure, sword and gun symbols adorn both a pendant and a necklace. This theme also features replicas of pieces worn by the daring “Angelica”: the cross pendant, complete with a crystal pavé vintage look, and a vintage dragon ring embellished by green mini crystals applied by hand, using the exclusive Pointiage® technique. “We recreated a surface metal effect that gives an antique look to the jewels, like those worn by pirates in the 17th and 18th century,” Nathalie Colin explains.
The “High Sea” line takes everyone on board with shark teeth, compass and message-in-a-bottle elements. The octagonal pendant, made of black enamel and pavé finishing, reveals a compass with a mobile dial. The original is to be seen on-screen worn by Captain Jack Sparrow.
Inspired by Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship, the “Black Pearl” line is all about mystery and refinement. Playing with the nautical symbols of the anchor and the twisted cord, the necklace, pendant, rings and earrings create a feminine and stylish set. The subtle pavéwork emphasizes the beguiling beauty of the black crystal pearl on each jewel.
The “Skulls and Swords” theme exemplifies a masculine influence. Skulls adorn a ring, a bangle and a pendant with striking effect. The design is pure and minimalist for the unisex line.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ New Stills, Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
In association with the new clip released yesterday demonstrating Captain Jack Sparrow’s daring escape from King George II and St. James Palace, Walt Disney Studios has provided us with five new stills from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which have been added to the beginning of our gallery below. Here you’ll find Barbossa and Sparrow at the mercy of the Spanish, Sparrow and Gibbs at the mercy of the English and.. well, Sparrow at the mercy of just about everyone and everything, least of all Blackbeard who knows all too well the secrets of Jack’s magical compass.
In addition, we have this new behind-the-scenes featurette with plenty of new footage. The theme of the featurette focuses on the fact that the film opens in London, as well as challenges and experiences of filming in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. It features the usual suspects: Rob Marshall, Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush as they offer their experiences in shooting the film in the varying locations.
