Now that Jerry Bruckheimer and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have officially confirmed our announced release date of Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides on both 5-disc Limited Edition 3D Blu-ray combo pack and as part of a 15-disc collection of the entire series on October 18, 2011, it’s time for us to sail on and deliver some brand new news to you.
After a two-day long hype which had us sitting on pins and needles about what exciting news super producer/director Jerry Bruckheimer was about to reveal regarding the hugely successful Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Bruckheimer today took to Twitter to reveal that Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides would be available to own on Disney 3D Blu-ray and DVD on October 18, 2011.
This, of course, just confirms what we had already reported nearly a month ago. Although we couldn’t locate the original tweet to complement Bruckheimer’s, we were able to find one of the re-tweets courtesy of a reader of ours.
Ahead of any official announcement, we have learned that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is planned for release on a 5-disc Limited Edition 3D Blu-ray combo pack on October 18, 2011. The film will also be available in a standard Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and as part of a spectacular 15-disc collection of the entire series.
ABC Family has acquired the Walt Disney Pictures film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides from Disney-ABC Domestic Television, it was announced today by Tom Zappala, executive vice president, Program Acquisitions & Scheduling, ABC Cable Networks Group. The deal gives ABC Family the first-window rights to the network television premiere. The film is slated to premiere on the network in 2013.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is one of this summer’s most highly-anticipated movies,” said Zappala. “Audiences love this franchise the world over for its excitement, charm and all-out sense of good fun. We’re thrilled to add this installment, in addition to the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, to our theatrical slate.”
In celebration of the upcoming release on May 20th of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the next installment in the hugely popular film franchise, directed by Rob Marshall, Walt Disney Studios announced today special “Pirates Day” fan events, fun-filled celebrations of all things “Pirates,” which will include advance 3D fan screenings of the film. The events will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in and around the Hot Topic stores in Hollywood, Calif., and Paramus, N.J.
Hollywood’s biggest stars came out to the Happiest Place on Earth in full force on May 7 to celebrate the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Productions and we were there to capture some of the magic taking place around the Disneyland theme park. Thousands of Disneyland guests lined Main Street U.S.A. and the 3,000 foot-long ‘black carpet’ to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars from the film, along with Disney Channel stars, ‘American Idol’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast and alum and many more A-listers from the worlds of film, television and music.

As they say, as long as your name is spelled right, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Walt Disney Studios has posted the following news report on YouTube in which the Melbourne Fire Brigade recently responded to calls about smoke stemming from high atop a billboard advertising Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It turned out to be a false alarm, however, as the reported smoke was the product of intentionally placed fog machines to simulate smoke drifting out of the barrels of the two guns being held by Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Walt Disney Studios announced that today “The Oprah Winfrey Show’s” studio audience in Chicago, IL, enjoyed a surprise visit from actor Johnny Depp, followed by an advance special screening of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in which Depp stars for the fourth time as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.
The audience members were treated to the ultimate “Harpo Hook-Up” as they were the first moviegoers in the world to view Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, presented in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp was on hand at the movie theatre to greet and welcome the “Oprah” show’s excited fans to the unprecedented event.
