As we reported some time ago, casting had begun for Princess Tiana to appear at Walt Disney. Now we are pleased to announce casting will also soon begin for her beau Prince Naveen and Dr. Facilier, the villain in The Princess and the Frog.
Disney has just announced that The Princess and the Frog star Anika Noni Rose will be the narrator for Epcot’s 2009 Candlelight Processional from December 6 – 8. The list previously published here has been updated.
A lot of the focus of the panel appears to have been on Ponyo and the upcoming Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D double-feature and – of course – Toy Story 3.
Attendees were shown clips from Toy Story 2 in 3D as well as a preview of Prep & Landing, the first television special produced for ABC by Walt Disney Animation Studios, coming later this year.

Rose will also perform a song from “The Princess and the Frog.” The performance and the sneak peek of select footage from the upcoming film are part of the NABJ Convention’s “NABJ Presents” event on Thursday, Aug. 6 at the Tampa Waterside Marriott Hotel and Marina.
“Disney’s magic is in full-force again this year and we are especially thrilled they have chosen the NABJ Convention to highlight ‘The Princess and the Frog,'” said NABJ President Barbara Ciara. “We are also proud of Disney’s involvement in the African-American community through multiple initiatives including Disney’s Dreamers Academy. And we are pleased that convention attendees are offered the opportunity to experience the theme parks of Walt Disney World Resort first-hand.”
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will unveil Princess Tiana live and in-person, just as she will appear to park guests, at the NABJ Convention — two months before her scheduled debut at Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Park in California.
“This is the first time anyone will see the new princess,” said Craig Dezern, vice president of Global Public Relations for Disney Destinations. “We’re excited for NABJ attendees to see first and first-hand our newest Disney princess.”

A couple of entertainment announcements:
Beginning late this year, the Disney Magic will unveil a new show for which we do not know too much about, including the title or even the synoposis. What we do know is it’s from the creators of Broadway’s [title of show], Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen and involves a whole lot of villains including the newest villain from the Princess and the Frog, Dr. Facilier. He will be joined by Genie-esque emcee Hades, Pain/Panic, Jafar, Yzma, Evil/Wicked Queen, Captain Hook, Kronk, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts and Ursula. Obviously villain-heavy, our only real indication of the tone of the show aside from Hades’s emceeing abilities are the good Dr. Facilier’s rendition of ‘Wind Beneath My Wings.’
