The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) today announced the recipients of its annual Thea Awards during the IAAPA Attractions Expo. The prestigious Thea Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in the creation of compelling experiences and places. TEA serves the global attractions industry, including theme parks, museums, world expos, heritage centers and resorts.
One of the largest and most expensive theme park attractions ever built, Radiator Springs Racers will be the anchor in the Cars Land expansion at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort, set to open summer of 2012. Based on the technology of Epcot’s Test Track technology, the attraction will place guests in the role of a Cars citizen as they take a leisurely stroll through the area, encountering many of the characters from the Disney/Pixar film, before getting involved in a virtual high-speed race against another vehicle filled with guests.
In a recent newsletter update, the Disneyland Resort has announced that Radiator Springs Racers, part of the new Cars Land in Disney California Adventure and scheduled to open in summer of 2012, will offer an enhanced version of FASTPASS, designed — in part — to ‘make the service more available,’ but stops short of any details, noting only ‘the details are still being worked out.’
