Radio Disney to Host ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Summer Adventures’ Events Nationwidd
Disney Junior is celebrating summer with fun, interactive events themed around the hit series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates;” May 2012′s #1 cable TV series among kids 2-5 and #1 cable preschool series in women 18-49. The “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Summer Adventures” family events will be hosted by Radio Disney at over 25 Simon Malls across 10 markets beginning SATURDAY, JUNE 23 – SUNDAY, JULY 1.
Kids and families are invited to take part in a pirate adventure and collect gold doubloons, the series’ signature treasure, by completing themed activities. Kids will receive “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” bandanas and treasure maps before setting out on a variety of fun, interactive activities including creating treasure chests, Pirate Pal coloring sheets, a ‘Never Land’ photo opportunity and a ‘Look for Hook’ game, where kids will search for Captain Hook decals throughout the mall.
The Radio Disney Road Crew will provide entertainment inviting kids to sing and dance to popular Radio Disney Junior songs from their favorite Disney Junior series including “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” “Doc McStuffins” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” Additionally, there will be a special viewing area where families can watch episodes of “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and “Doc McStuffins.” The Radio Disney Road Crew will give away Disney Junior themed prizes at each event.

Platypus Day 2012 is March 3; New Song Premieres Today on Radio Disney
Disney’s hugely popular duck-billed, beaver-tailed, teal-colored character Perry the Platypus, as seen on “Phineas and Ferb,” the #1 animated series for kids and tweens, will be the main attraction on Platypus Day, Saturday, March 3. The celebration includes the introduction of “The Platypus Walk,” a catchy spy-surf-rock song and dance designed to encourage fun physical activity as part of Disney’s commitment to inspire kids and families to lead active lifestyles. The day also includes 11 hours of “Phineas and Ferb” programming including two new Perry-focused episodes on Disney Channel and Disney XD, an interactive website dedicated to Perry the Platypus, a fun giveaway and special Platypus Takeover at all Disney Stores in the U.S. & Canada and events via local Radio Disney stations across the nation.
“The Platypus Walk” song will debut today, Wednesday, February 8, when Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (creators/executive producers, “Phineas and Ferb”) join Radio Disney’s Ernie D on air (4:00-5:00 p.m., PT) as Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram. Also beginning today, viewers can visit DisneyChannel.com to learn the steps to “The Platypus Walk” dance. Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram will also co-host the Top 30 Countdown on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4.
“The Platypus Walk” music video debuts Saturday, March 3 on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The dance, choreographed by Rosero McCoy (“Shake It Up” and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”), will be demonstrated by Friends of Perry (FOP) and fan favorites: Bridgit Mendler, Bradley Steven Perry, Jason Dolley, Mia Talerico, Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer (“Good Luck Charlie”), Bella Thorne and Zendaya, Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty and Caroline Sunshine (“Shake It Up”), Debby Ryan, Kevin Chamberlin, Skai Jackson, Karan Brar, Cameron Boyce and Peyton List (“Jessie”), Billy Unger, Kelli Berglund, Spencer Boldman and Tyrel Jackson Williams (“Lab Rats”), Jason Earles, Leo Howard, Mateo Arias, Dylan Riley Snyder, Olivia Holt and Alex Christian Jones (“Kickin’ It”), and Ross Lynch, Laura Marano, Raini Rodriguez and Calum Worthy (“Austin & Ally”).

In anticipation of Perry’s big day, the weekend celebration begins with a new Perry-centric “Phineas and Ferb” episode, “Mom’s in the House,” on Friday, March 2 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) followed by an 11-hour marathon, Saturday, March 3 (9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. Disney XD’s 12-hour “Phineas and Ferb” marathon begins with the premiere of another new episode, “Perry the Actorpus,” on Saturday, March 3 (8:00 a.m., ET/PT).

Radio Disney Announces Annual ‘Noon Year’s Eve’ Events Nationwide
Radio Disney, the #1 radio network for kids, tweens, and families, invites listeners across the country to ring in the new year at its annual family-friendly “Noon Year’s Eve” events taking place on December 31. The “Noon Year’s Eve” events, taking place in 19 markets, will welcome kids and families to their favorite locations including local zoos, museums or shopping centers for a family-friendly celebration that gives kids the opportunity to have all the fun of New Year’s Eve before their bedtime.
Hosted by Radio Disney’s local stations, the “Noon Year’s Eve” events will feature the best songs of the year from Radio Disney’s “Top 50 of 2011,” interactive entertainment and prizes. Many of the events will also feature special balloon drops and a countdown just for kids and families.

Shealeigh Named Winner of Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ Season Four
Shealeigh Voitl of Chicago, IL has taken the title of Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ (NBT) Season Four contest. Voted by listeners of the Radio Disney network, Shealeigh was one of five finalists and survived each week as the performer with the least number of votes was eliminated from the competition.
Shealeigh’s first single, released through the competition, is ‘What Can I Say?,’ which she can be seen performing in the following video we took as the NBT tour visited the streets of New York City earlier this year:
As winner of the competition, Shealeigh will have her single released through Walt Disney Music.
The other finalists in the competition included runner-up Zack Montana, Hollywood Ending, Tay Barton and Ladina Spence.
This was the fourth year for Radio Disney’s NBT contest. Previous winners include Allstar Weekend, Kicking Daisies and Jasmine. Coco Jones of NBT season three has also experienced notable success since appearing in the competition.

Bridgit Mendler’s ‘We Can Change the World’ to Premiere on Disney Channel, Radio Disney on June 10
“We Can Change the World,” the inspiring new pop/rock anthem for Disney’s Friends for Change — performed and co-written by 18-year-old actress and Hollywood Records recording artist Bridgit Mendler (“Good Luck Charlie,” “Lemonade Mouth”) — will premiere Friday, June 10 on Radio Disney at 7:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT and Disney Channel in the 7:00 pm ET/PT hour. Beginning Saturday, June 11, the song will be available on Disney.com/ProjectGreen and the music video will be available at iTunes. Coinciding with its premiere, Disney will donate $250,000 to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund benefiting global charities. “We Can Change the World” is the third Disney’s Friends for Change anthem. Previous songs have helped raise more than $800,000 for conservation projects around the globe.
Disney’s Friends for Change is a multi-platform initiative that helps inspire kids and families to join together and make a positive impact on their world (and the people and animals that live there). Through PSAs on-air and online tool-kits, the program aims to provide useful information to help kids make small changes that add up to big differences. As part of the program, Disney is donating $1 million dollars annually to fund projects all around the globe and has funded over 41 projects that help the planet ranging from educational & community programs to species & habitat protection. The music video was directed by Art Spigel (“Disney Channel Games”) and the song was written by Joacim Persson and Bridgit Mendler. It was produced on location at Disney Golden Oak Ranch in Los Angeles, California.
