VIDEO: ‘Wreck It Ralph’ Faces Wrath of ‘King of Kong’ at PAX; Free Screening Contest
He may have been the first person to break the million point barrier on Donkey Kong, but ‘King of Kong’ Steve Weibe will need quite a bit more practice when it comes to facing Wreck-it Ralph in the game of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr,’ based on both Wreck-It Ralph from Walt Disney Animation Studios and the legacy of 8-bit video games.
Weibe was invited by Disney to visit the Wreck-It Ralph exhibit at GameWorks for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle where he had the opportunity to play the ‘Fix-It Felix Jr’ arcade game which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. While he managed to top the high score list, Weibe felt way short of the million points mark, though in his defense it was not only his first time playing the game, but it wasn’t precisely his cup o’ tea either. Despite drawing comparisons to arcade classics such as Donkey Kong, Rampage and others, Weibe compares it to Q*Bert of all things. In an interview held later, he explained that in Donkey Kong, moving Mario is a constant, but in ‘Fix It Felix Jr,’ Felix jumps from window ledge to window ledge, making the gameplay closer to how Q*Bert jumps from block to block. He did, however, liken the game’s jump button to that of the hammer button in DK.
As an added incentive for those in the Seattle area, anyone who can beat Weibe’s score at GameWorks by 11:59 pm on Sunday will receive a free private screening of Wreck-It Ralph before it debuts in theaters (no PAX admission required).
Wreck-It Ralph opens in theaters nationwide on November 2, 2012. A limited number of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr’ arcade games are expected to appear at participating movie theaters.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Hi-Res Concept Art, Character Development
Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios have provided us with these new hi-res images showing some of the development behind the three new game worlds (Fix It Felix Jr, Sugar Rush and Hero’s Duty) as well as character development, showing how Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) and Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) have evolved during the film-making process.
The newly released images have been added to the beginning of our gallery of concept art for the film below. Click on any of the thumbnails to see a larger version, then click on the resize arrow to see the image at its original resolution.
Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in Wreck-It Ralph. Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer), the ‘good guy’ star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video
games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.
On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game ‘Hero’s Duty.’ But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) from the candy-coated cart racing game, ‘Sugar Rush,’ whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late?
Wreck-It Ralph crashes onto the big screen on November 2, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D® in select theaters.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ to Appear in SEGA’s ‘Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed’
After SEGA’s iconic character Sonic the Hedgehog was spotted as the face of keeping order in Wreck-It Ralph’s Game Central Station during a clip played during the Walt Disney Studios presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s only natural that life imitate art and that Ralph himself would appear alongside Sonic on the small screen as well.
Earlier today, SEGA announced that the title character of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming comedy, Wreck-It Ralph, will appear alongside Sonic the Hedgehog in the highly-anticipated racing video game Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The thrilling racing adventure allows players to race through land, air and water in new dynamic tracks inspired by classic SEGA video games. Wreck-It Ralph’s unique transformable vehicles and signature All-Star move will make for some of the best racing around when he lines up against other All-Stars such as Sonic, AiAi and Danica Patrick, in both single player and multiplayer game modes.
‘Wreck-It Ralph will make a great addition to our stellar cast in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed,’ said Masanao Maeda, Chairman and Chief Content Officer, SEGA of America. ‘Disney has created a unique film experience that will appeal to gamers of all ages, and our video game collaboration will give fans the opportunity to interact with their character on the small screen as well.’
‘To have Wreck-It Ralph included in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a dream come true,’ said Rich Moore, director of Wreck-It Ralph. ‘The film pays homage to the video games I loved as a kid, including Sonic the Hedgehog in a special cameo, so being able to see Wreck-It Ralph in a real video game alongside Sonic and other iconic SEGA characters is unbelievably exciting for me and should be a treat for fans!’
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita system, the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, Nintendo’s Wii U™ system and Windows PC Digital Download this November.

SDCC: ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Arcade Game Experience Brings ‘Fix It Felix Jr’ to Life
As part of the marketing campaign for Walt Disney Animation’s Wreck-It Ralph, the studio plans on introducing full-scale arcade cabinet versions of the film’s ‘Fix It Felix Jr.’ game, the home of the title character. While the cabinet has appeared at both Disney D23 Expo (as a view-only demo) and most recently at E3 as a broken, non-functioning machine, San Diego Comic-Con saw the first actual working versions of the faux-c. 1982 video game manufactured by the defunct TobiKomi video game company.
The arcade version — of which there are two — are currently located at Tilt Arcade on the top level of the Horton Plaza in San Diego for the convention. Those who visit the arcade are invited to play the game free of charge and will receive a one-sheet movie teaser poster for the film as well as a Wreck-It Ralph badge buddy which includes a free download code for a Wreck-It Ralph t-shirt for Xbox Live avatars. In addition, players who are able to successfully beat a specific, modest score, will receive a free t-shirt. There is no limit to the number of attempts one can play, other than returning to the end of either line and waiting to retry.
Interestingly enough, the ‘original’ arcade version of the game is quite a bit different than the recently released free version of ‘Fix It Felix Jr‘ for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. The arcade version does contain the same hazards such as blocked passages and flying ducks (as well as the requirement to jump over gaps), but they come much later during gameplay than in the Apple iOS version. In addition, whereas pies give the player extra lives in the Apple version, the pies engage ‘Super Felix’ mode in the arcade version, making Fix-it Felix invulnerable for several seconds.
Also worth noting is that the arcade cabinet featured at E3 included a sign giving a brief history of the game and asking people to report to [email protected] should they come across a working version, suggesting some sort of alternate reality game (ARG) but emails sent to that address regarding these particular arcade cabinets have gone unanswered. Word on the street is that arcade cabinets for ‘Fix-It Felix Jr’ will in fact be appearing nationwide at select locations (namely movie theaters) closer to the film’s release on November 2, 2012.
Whether you’re able to play the game at Tilt in San Diego or will have to wait to see if one shows up at a movie theater near you in the future, here are a few tips for successful play:
- Time is not a factor. Your main objective should be to fix windows but also to avoid the bricks being thrown by Wreck-It Ralph. In other words, make avoiding bricks your priority and take your time fixing windows.
- All windows need to be repaired. If a window looks open, it still needs to be repaired. This also includes the blue doors at the bottom and the curved windows directly above them.
- You only need to press the Fix button once per window. The delayed reaction suggests tapping it, but one press will do it.

‘Paperman’ First Images in High Resolution
The whistle almost blew calling for quitting time, but after what seems like months of teasing, Walt Disney Animation Studios has finally provided us with these hi-res first images from John Kahrs’ revolutionary short, Paperman, which will play before Wreck-It Ralph in theaters beginning November 2, 2012.
In the revolutionary short, which uses a combination of hand-drawn animation with computer graphics, a young New Yorker has only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get the attention of the girl of his dreams. Paperman is an innovative short about destiny and the power of second chances.
Below is our gallery of the images from the short, in which we get our first real look at George and Meg (or as I may inadvertently them, Jim and Pam). Click on any of the thumbnails to see a larger version. If the resize arrow appears, you may click it to see the image in its original resolution.
‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Toys and Plush First Look (Video, Photos)
Earlier this week, Disney Consumer Products held its annual holiday preview showcase in which it presents many of the new and exciting products that will be released during the fall and holiday seasons. While we hope to present to you just some of the great things you can expect to find on the shelves at Disney Store and other popular retailers later this year, we’d like to start of slow by focusing on a few specific collections, starting with toys inspired by Wreck-It Ralph which opens on November 2, 2012.
Perhaps known best to Disney fans as one of the few original licensees of Pixar’s Toy Story, Thinkway Toys presents talking figures for both Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) and Vanellope Von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman). Ralph, which you can see being demo’d by Keith in the video below, features two buttons that control his arms. When pressed individually, Ralph is in Friendly Mode and speaks friendly phrases, while pressing both buttons simultaneously puts him in Wrecking Mode and he speaks accordingly. Not quite as physical, the Vanellope figure includes peppermint candy hair extensions and a hairbrush. Both figures include over 30 sayings each in their original movie voices, will be available in October and will retail for $44.99.
Also featured in the video are a prototype of the Wreck-It Ralph hands which recite lines from the film upon mild impact.
The rest of the shown collection consists namely of plush: Fix-It Felix Jr (voiced by Jack McBrayer), an 8-bit rendition of Wreck-It Ralph and many of the secondary characters from Vanellope’s world of ‘Sugar Rush:’ Adorabeezle Winterpop, Candle Head, Crumbelina Dicamello, Fluggerbutter, Gloyd Orangeboar, Jubileena, Minty Zaki, Snowanna Rainbeau, Swizzle ‘The-Swizz’ Malarkey and Taffyta Muttonfudge.

As a story extension to the highly anticipated upcoming blockbuster film of the same name from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the Wreck-It Ralph video game is set to inspire a whole new generation of young gamers as a classic, arcade-style side scroller featuring Ralph – the misunderstood villain of his own arcade game who sets out to prove he can be a hero too. Debuting this fall tied to the movie release, Wreck-It Ralph will bring all the fun from the big screen right into the living room for the Wii system from Nintendo, and the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS hand-held systems.

WATCH: ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Freakishly Awesome Teaser Trailer
Although it actually previewed in theaters on Memorial Day weekend alongside the return of Disney/Pixar favorites, the long awaited teaser trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph is now officially released online (after a brief exclusive on Xbox) and will be returning to movie theaters on Friday.
With support from Flo Rida’s ‘Good Feeling’ and the classic ‘Once in a Lifetime’ by Talking Heads, the trailer takes a glimpse at the life of Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), the villain of the popular video game ‘Fix-It Felix.’ When not working inside the game, destroying things, Ralph begins to realize he no longer wants to be the villain, voicing his concerns at the Bad-Anon support group which features cameos by Bowser, Zangief and Pac-Man’s Clyde, who takes the news in a way that only he can.
We’re also introduced to other characters such as the video game’s hero, Fix-It Felix (voiced by Jack McBrayer) who’s bi-lingual, speaking the exotic Q-Bertese; Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch); and Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) who proves to be more than a handful (albeit a freakishly big one).
The trailer comes just a day after we got our first look from the film, which you can see in our hi-res gallery shared below. You can click on any of the thumbnails to see the larger version and then click on the resize arrow to see the images at their original 10MP size.
