In anticipation of her royal coronation ceremony at Kensington Palace on October 2, Rapunzel has arrived in London and is touring various historical locations this week. Her first stop is the Salt Tower at the Tower of London, where her hair can currently be spotted draping down, awaiting the arrival of her true love, Flynn Rider. She has promised to send along photos of her other stops in town this week, so be sure to check back right here for additional photos from the soon-to-be Disney Princess.
Although the ceremony at Kensington Castle is by invite only. On October 2, the public is invited to partake in the momentous event by viewing the Disney Princess procession as it marches from Queen’s Gate, beginning at 1 pm GMT. Alfred Angelo for Disney Collection Adds Rapunzel Gown, Royal Maidens, Royal Blossoms and Disney Veils
After an exciting first season for the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal collection, Alfred Angelo in collaboration with Disney Consumer Products will introduce the 2012 collection along with styles for bridesmaids and flower girls at the National Bridal Market in Chicago this week. In addition, Alfred Angelo will debut a veil collection to complete the fantasy look for Disney brides. The 2012 bridal collection will continue to be affordably priced with styles starting in the $800 range. Dresses will be in stores worldwide by January.
The 2012 Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal collection is inspired by the seven current Disney Princess characters (Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Tiana), and Rapunzel, who will officially become the newest Disney Princess on October 2, 2011 at a special royal celebration at Kensington Palace in London, England. Each gown incorporates modern style trends with the fantasy that is the core essence of each princess.
Michael Shettel, head designer for the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection, describes his new creations:
- Ariel’s gown is inspired by the gentle movement of the ocean’s tides. It features cascading ruffles, self made flowers with feather accents that softly sway and dance as if under the sea.
- This season, Belle’s grand ball gown is layered with graceful tulle and net and features a luxuriously bejeweled corset bodice that is filled with more enchantment than a storybook romance.
- Glamour and elegance define our Cinderella inspired gown. The exquisite form fitting shape puts a modern spin on the classic ball gown. Embellished with lace and beaded with crystals, the elongated bodice flows to a full tulle skirt.
- Jasmine’s multi tiered soft shimmer organza gown floats in ruffles and is topped with a dazzling jewel encrusted bodice–perfect for that magic carpet ride.
- Confident and dynamic, our Rapunzel inspired contemporary fitted gown features subtle draped taffeta reminiscent of the twists and turns of her long braided hair. The artistic nature-inspired floral sash twinkles with pearls and crystals like the lantern filled sky.
- Sleeping Beauty’s elegance and femininity resonates in a romantic rose colored bridal. The gently draped organza gown features a sweetheart neckline, along with subtle waist beading and rose-inspired flowers.
- Our tulle ball gown with its delicately draped satin bodice captures Snow White’s gentle grace and beauty. Hidden in the skirt’s pickups are lace vines and romantic flowers straight from her enchanted forest.
- Both modern and nostalgic, Tiana’s gown is a sophisticated choice for a magical transformation. The form-fitting, satin gown and organza cloud-of-dreams skirt is topped off with a lace and crystal sweetheart neckline that sparkles and shines like an Evening Star!

The “Royal Maidens” bridesmaid collection includes dresses in satin, luxe taffeta and chiffon, in an array of stylish silhouettes for the Disney bride’s “ladies in waiting”. Dresses will be available in up to 60 colors, including Disney-inspired shades like Enchanted Glow, Moonlight Waltz, and Royal Bloom. The collection will start at $159, and be available in sizes 0-18, 16W-30W.
The flower girl dresses, called “Royal Blossoms,” are designed as mini versions of the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo bridal gowns. The collection is offered for flower girls, but is also designed for special occasions and holidays. The flower girl collection will be available in sizes 2 toddler to girls size 16.

Video Contest Offers Chance for Young Fans to Attend Rapunzel Coronation Ceremony
As Rapunzel is welcomed into the Disney Princess royal court on October 2 at Kensington Palace in London, England, Disney Princess fans can feel a part of the special occasion by participating in an online video contest on Disney.com. Whether it’s the kindness shown by Cinderella, determination of Tiana, or adventurous nature of Rapunzel, girls connect with Disney Princess characters in different ways to bring their own stories to life. With the “Your Princess Moment – The Story Begins With You” video upload contest, fans age 12 and under can submit a 45-second video singing part of one of four songs from the upcoming Disney Princess Fairy Tale Songscompilation album – available September 20 from Walt Disney Records. Alternatively, fans can submit a video recreating a favorite Disney Princess scene, dressing up or performing a dance.
Videos entered between now and Sept. 12, 2011 at Disney.com/PrincessMoment are eligible for the ultimate Grand Prize – a trip for four to London for Rapunzel’s royal celebration. From videos entered by Oct. 4, 2011, one First Prize winner will be selected to receive a 3D TV and DVD assortment from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and ten Second Prize winners will receive the Disney Princess Ultimate Dream Castle from Mattel. Parental consent is required to enter the contest.
Disney will officially welcome Rapunzel as the 10th Disney Princess character at a high profile, star-studded celebration, to take place in front of a global audience on October 2, 2011. Disney on Ice Launches Two New Shows Featuring Rapunzel from Disney’s ‘Tangled’
Dreams do come true! Feld Entertainment is bringing the magic of Disney to the ice with two new shows debuting this fall, both featuring hair-raising moments from Walt Disney Studio’s hit animated film, Tangled. Audiences will experience the enchantment and splendor of new and classic princesses in Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream, as they frolic in the French quarter with Tiana from Princess and the Frog, relive the timeless story of Cinderella and watch Rapunzel let down her hair on the ice for the first time ever. In Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove, audiences will enjoy a gem for every generation in a magical medley of Disney tales that span the years from the first animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to the 50th film, Tangled. Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream launches September 2 in Lakeland, Fla., while Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove kicks off its North American tour in San Diego, Calif., on October 5.
This year marks the first time Feld Entertainment has launched two brand new Disney On Ice shows simultaneously. Celebrating a 30-year partnership with The Walt Disney Company, Feld Entertainment is committed to bringing more high quality entertainment to families around the world than ever before. Dare to Dream and Treasure Trove also record another first for the company: both shows are led by two female sister producers, Nicole Feld and Juliette Feld.
“We are ecstatic to be able to bring audiences two incredible new ice shows this year that set the standard for the ultimate Disney experience,” says Producer Nicole Feld. “Because Tangled marks the 50th Disney animated feature, it was only fitting that we celebrate that achievement by including moments from Rapunzel’s story in both new shows.”
Dare to Dream, a vibrant, contemporary compilation of princesses, features popular songs and unforgettable scenes from two of Disney’s newest fairytales and one of the most cherished stories of all time. Audiences will behold an alluring aerialist act with Rapunzel’s golden locks, shimmering gowns that twinkle and twirl during Cinderella’s royal ball, a lighting display that illuminates all the fireflies in Tiana’s New Orleans bayou and a grand finale with all the Disney princesses.
Treasure Trove is an action-packed ice adventure that takes audiences on a journey through their favorite stories from Disney animated features. Brave a battle against Captain Hook and his pirate pals with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, trek across the Pride Lands with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, and enter the whimsical world of Wonderland to witness a precision skating number by the Queen of Hearts’ Army of Cards in this extraordinary lineup from the Disney animated film vault.
“Watching Disney movies is a special pastime for many families. For Treasure Trove, we wanted to extend that experience by producing one remarkable show to commemorate the everlasting legacy of Disney animated films, live on the ice,” says Producer Juliette Feld.
Both skating spectaculars draw upon the combined talents of seasoned experts for direction and choreography:
Patty Vincent (Director) – Directed numerous Feld Entertainment ice and stage shows including Disney On Ice presents Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3; began her career at Feld Entertainment as a skater 26 years ago, and has advanced in the company to become Character Development Director for all touring Disney On Ice and Disney Live! productions
Jerry Bilik (Creative Director and Writer) – Involved as a creative team member in every Disney On Ice show throughout its 30-year history; arranged music for a number of television series, including “Starsky & Hutch” and “Charlie’s Angels”
Cindy Stuart (Choreographer) – Collaborated with Olympic Gold Medalist Robin Cousins on multiple projects; choreographed for Katarina Witt, Brian Orser, World and Olympic Champions Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao, and Olympic Champions Jamie Sale and David Pelletier; lead choreographer for several Disney On Ice productions, including Disney On Ice presents Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3; choreographer for “Skating with the Stars.”
To create the visual facets of Dare to Dream, Nicole Feld and Juliette Feld assembled a creative team with a flair for designing dazzling production elements:
Stan Meyer (Scenic Designer) – Honored as the first recipient of The League of American Theatres and Producers National Broadway Theatre Award for his design of the North American Tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast; has created sets for the world premiere of Elton John & Tim Rice’s Elaborate Lives: The Legend of Aida, Alice Cooper’s 2007 Tour and the 2008 True Colors Tour featuring Cyndi Lauper; scenic designer for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey® Presents Barnum 200(SM) and Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales
Ivan Ingermann (Costume Designer) – Developed costumes for feature films Suits, Rules of the Game, Escape to Life, and Sundance Award Winner “2×4″ as well as for national commercials for companies including Toyota, Pontiac, BMW and McDonald’s; his recent work can be seen at the SeaWorld Adventure Park in Orlando, Fla., in A’lure: the Call of the Ocean
Peter Morse (Lighting Designer) – Produced lighting scenery for numerous performers, including Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Lopez; received Emmy® Award nominations for his work on televised concerts starring Barbra Streisand, and won the Emmy® Award for Lighting Design and Direction for Bette Midler’s HBO Special, Diva, Las Vegas .
Design elements for Treasure Trove were created by a team of industry experts with the ability to capture the essence of Disney’s animated treasures:
Jim Youmans (Scenic Designer) – Created sets for Broadway, Off-Broadway, television, regional theater, touring productions, corporate and special events and theme parks; his Broadway credits include Gypsy and Swinging on a Star, and Off-Broadway, the Drama Desk Award-winning musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Youmans also earned Drama Desk Award nominations for Bella, Belle of Beyellorussia and The Petrified Prince.
Dawna Oak (Costume Designer) – Worked six years at the Pasadena Playhouse in all capacities from wardrobe supervisor to designer. Other credits include associate designer for Disney On Ice presents Disney/Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc., Feld Motor Sports’ Nuclear Cowboyz(SM) and the 128th, 129th and 130th editions of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Circus.
Jesse Blevins (Lighting Designer) – Designed spectacular lighting scenery for a variety of performers including Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys; lighting designer for Nuclear Cowboyz.

Disney Store 2011 Holiday Collection Preview
Recently I had the opportunity to meet with Disney Store as part of the Disney Consumer Products holiday preview and get a first look at some of the new and exciting items coming this fall exclusively to Disney Store and DisneyStore.com. The two major franchises to expect more of in the holiday season at Disney Store are Disney Princesses and Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2, both of which will be offering some amazing limited edition items that any fan will be sure to appreciate.
On the Disney Princess side, the big ticket item is the limited edition Rapunzel dress from Disney’s Tangled. dancing in the footsteps of Snow White and Belle, this costume is sure to make any young princess the belle Rapunzel of the ball. Retailing for just $149.50, it will be limited to an edition size of 2,000 worldwide and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity. Some of the other princesses are also receiving new dresses, the skirts of which are decorated with amazing glittery details paying homage to their respective Princess, including a new deluxe Belle costume to be released in the fall.
For princesses with aspirations of being a different princess every day, Disney Store is also debuting a virtual closetful with the Enchanting Princess 5-in-1 Wardrobe Set. Packaged as a transluscent garment bag, this role-playing fantasy set includes costumes for Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella and Rapunzel, all in a convenient easy-to-travel-with bag.
Guests that have visited an ‘Imagination Park’ style Disney Store will be sure to appreciate the ‘magic mirror’ jewelry box. Designed to look just like the magic mirror found in the store, the front features a lenticular panel which magically transforms its image between Disney princesses and opens to reveal a dress-up dream in children’s toy jewelry.
Also of note is Disney Store’s venture into the world of radio controlled toys aimed at girls. Here, for example, is a little video of the Beauty and the Beast in action. Belle and Beast take to the ballroom dance floor as the toy plays the theme to the music as they move in all directions, including the ability to twirl. Beast’s head and jacket are also removable, transforming him back to the Prince. It will retail for $49.50.
And, of course, one can’t forget the amazing ‘Disney Animators’ Collection‘ line of dolls designed by famed Disney animators Glen Keane and Mark Henn. For more information and photos, be sure to check out our article on this holiday season’s must-have here.
For Cars 2, Disney Store will be offering a limited edition Lightning McQueen with Mia and Tia die-cast collectibles. The vehicles are to 1:18 scale and will be limited to an edition size of 5,000 sets and will retail for $149.50. A first of its kind, the bottom plate of Lightning McQueen can be removed to expose his undercarriage, as faithfully reproduced directly from Pixar Animation Studios’ digital files.
Also of note for Cars 2 is the Stephenson die-cast carrying case which features lights and sounds and comes with three die-cast vehicles (Mater, Holley Shiftwell and Finn McMissile as seen in the film) and a great boys’ leather motorcycle jacket which includes a large Piston Cub trophy emblem on the back along with Lightning McQueen’s number 95. The jacket will be available both in-store and online for $49.50.
Building on the popular exclusive lines of merchandise recently debuting at Disney Store, guests can look forward to new fragrances (including Disney Store’s first personal scent) and new collectibles and jewelry.
Beginning with its line of fragrances exclusive to Disney Store, new fragrances will continue to be launched throughout 2011. Imagination is now available, with Magic currently rolling out in July, to be followed by both Pixie Dust and Imagination Winter in October. Pixie Dust will also be the first of the scents to be considered a personal scent, being released as an eau de toilette in addition to the body mist, hand soap and body lotion. At this time, there are no plans to remove any of the scents from the stores as new ones debut and ‘Imagination Park’ style Disney Store locations will continue to offer the Imagination scent piped in at the store entrance until Imagination Winter debuts in October, at which time it will be piped in instead for the season.
The Kidada for Disney Store line by Kidada Jones line will also receive new additions to its family come fall. Belle, Cinderella, Snow White and Tiana will welcome Alice, Ariel, Jasmine and Tinker Bell. While only the Wish-a-Little secrets collection was previewed at the event, expect the new additions to fully be supported by the line.
There’s good news for fans of Disney Vinylmation as well. In addition to the Robots series debuting this summer, there will be two new series being released this fall from Disney Store. The Disney Villains line, released earlier this year, will see a followup Disney Villains 2 series which will include Shere Khan from The Jungle Book, Snow White‘s Evil Queen (with clear plastic as part of the form’s ears) and Runaway Brain Mickey Mouse. The Disney Store is also releasing a set of four, open-boxed Vinylmation figures called ‘Jingle Smells,’ which — as you may have guessed it — are scented, holiday figures. The 3″ figures have been modified to appears as if they have ornament hooks on top and will be available in gingerbread, marshmallow, chocolate and peppermint scents. The ‘Jingle Smells’ collection may also be available at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, although that has yet to be decided.
I hear the Disney Store also has more surprises and announcements planned for D23 Expo taking place in Anaheim, CA this August, so be sure to watch this space for even more Disney Store news. Rapunzel to Receive Coronation Ceremony October 2 at Kensington Palace
Disney will officially welcome Rapunzel as the 10th Disney Princess character at a high profile, star-studded celebration, to take place in front of a global audience on October 2, 2011. Independent charity Historic Royal Palaces has joined with Disney to help stage the event, in a collaboration that aims to encourage children all over the world to explore the stories behind the real kings, queens, princes and princesses alongside Disney’s. “Our aim is to help everyone explore the stories of how monarchs and other royals have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built,” said Ruth Gill, Head of Interpretation at Historic Royal Palaces. “Kensington Palace has always been a place of spectacle, beauty and majesty, and home to many inspirational real-life Princesses. We are therefore delighted to celebrate our relationship with Disney by hosting this magical event that will welcome Rapunzel as the 10th member of the Disney Princess royal court.”
All ten Disney Princess characters will take part in the royal celebration and will be joined by VIPs, celebrities and little princesses from across the globe in festivities including a procession through Hyde Park, party activities and a welcoming ceremony.
Each Disney Princess character has a unique story that empowers girls to imagine and live their very own fairy tales. Rapunzel is a modern heroine — she may have lived her entire life locked inside a hidden tower but Rapunzel is no damsel in distress. The girl with 70 feet of glowing, magical hair is an energetic, inquisitive young lady who fills her days with art, books and imagination. She is full of curiosity about the outside world and can’t help but feel her true destiny lies outside of the lonely tower walls.
Kensington Palace has been a residence of the British Royal Family since the 17th century and is famed for its associations with Princesses. Princess Victoria (later Queen Victoria, Britain’s longest reigning monarch) was born at Kensington Palace on 24th May 1819 and was christened the following month in the Cupola Room. Her love for the palace ensured the renovations of the State Apartments in 1897 which were opened to the public on Queen Victoria’s 80th birthday. Today, parts of Kensington Palace continue to serve as residences for members of the Royal Family. The best known resident in recent years was Diana, Princess of Wales, who occupied apartments in the north-west part of the palace from 1981-1997.
‘Rapunzel’ Inspired Wedding Gown by Alfred Angelo Previewed by Disney Weddings

Recently, Alfred Angelo also debuted the Cinderella Platinum Anniversary wedding gown, in honor of Disney Fairy Tale Wedding’s twentieth anniversary.

Photos: Disney Gets ‘Tangled’ with Locks of Love Event
This past weekend, several celebrity hair-stylists offered complimentary haircuts at the Bungalow Salon in West Hollywood, CA to benefit the Locks of Love charity in celebration of the Disney Blu-ray/DVD release of Tangled.
Locks of Love provides hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long term medical hair loss in an effort to ‘return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss.’
