Walt Disney Studios has provided us with two new hi-res stills from its upcoming feature, Saving Mr. Banks, which have been added to the beginning of our gallery of images from the film below. Although nothing new for those that have seen the trailer, the newly released stills feature Jason Schwartzman and BJ Novak as Richard and Robert Sherman as well as Bradley Whitford as screenwriter Don DaGradi.

Walt Disney Studios has provided us with a series of ‘fun facts’ regarding their upcoming film, Saving Mr. Banks (limited release December 13, wide release December 20, 2013). Admittedly they start out a bit slow with nothing really new to add to the mix, but as you go through the list, there’s sure to be a fact or two that will impress — especially the roles that the Walt Disney Studios Archive and Walt Disney Family Museum too on with aiding the production of the historical dramedy.

‘Saving Mr. Banks’ to Open AFI Fest 2013

Disney announced today that Saving Mr. Banks has been chosen to open AFI FEST 2013, presented by Audi, on Thursday, November 7. The film, which will have its North American premiere at the festival, stars Academy Award®-winning actress Emma Thompson and Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks, both of whom will be in attendance at the Opening Night Gala, along with director John Lee Hancock and other stars from the film.

Walt Disney Studios has provided us with a new hi-res still from its upcoming feature, Saving Mr. Banks, which has been added to our gallery of images from the film below.

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ Mary Poppins, he made them a promise — one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

‘Mary Poppins’ Blu-Ray New Bonus Features Detailed; ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ Sneak Peek

'Mary Poppins: 50th Anniversary' on Blu-rayWe have been provided with some additional details on the new bonus features that will support on the 50th Anniversary edition of Mary Poppins as it makes its Blu-ray debut on December 10, 2013 (now available for pre-order).

Mary-OKE will highlight popular music from the film, specifically ‘Spoon Full of Sugar,’ ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,’ ‘Step In Time,’ ‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’ and allows viewer to sing-along to animated words that display onscreen in unique ways.

Disney D23 Presents the Treasures of the Walt Disney Studio Archives is easily one of the most popular attractions during the biennial D23 Expo, arguably second only to the star-studded arena presentations, and this year is sure to be no different.

Although smaller than last year’s presentation, by focusing on timeless properties such as Disney’s oft-foray into the world of L. Frank Baum’s Oz and the 1964 classic Mary Poppins, the archives team has managed to produce a solid sampling of fascinating objects that span decades film and parks history.

‘Mary Poppins: 50th Anniversary Edition’ on Blu-ray in December

'Mary Poppins: 50th Anniversary Edition' on Blu-ray‘Winds in the east, mist coming in… like something is brewing and about to begin. Can’t put me finger on what lies in store, but I fear what’s to happen all happened before.’

Except that what will be in store hasn’t happened before — at least not like this. On December 10, 2013, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release the beloved 1964 classic, Mary Poppins, on Blu-ray for the first time ever. That would place its release just a few days before Saving Mr. Banks opens in limited release on December 13 and on the same day its soundtrack, with music composed by Thomas Newman, is slated to be released.

‘What I Likes’ comes as Mary Poppins is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary and as Disney is preparing to release a film based on the actual events that lead to its production, Saving Mr. Banks in which Walt Disney attempts to court author P.L. Travers in his quest to turn her stories into a film.

‘Saving Mr. Banks’ Theatrical Poster

'Saving Mr. Banks' PosterThe Walt Disney Parks official blog today revealed the theatrical poster for Disney’s upcoming film, Saving Mr. Banks which opens in theaters limited release on December 13, 2013, followed by a wide release on December 20.

We also recently shared the news that Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the two-disc deluxe soundtrack for the film, scored by Thomas Newman.
