They may not actually be glass, but an exciting new line of evening and wedding fashion footwear — inspired by the 1950 Disney animated classic film, Cinderella — will soon be available from leading branded footwear and accessories retailer DSW. ‘The Glass Slipper Collection’ hits DSW stores and dsw.com on October 1, 2012 in celebration of the release of Cinderella Diamond Edition
The collaboration between DSW and Disney began with the idea of creating a line of shoes that successfully blends the classic elegance of Cinderella with today’s footwear trends. The result? A gorgeous collection of five timeless styles in must-have colors any fashion-savvy shoe lover would want in her closet.
‘The inspiration for the line came from the vision of Disney artist Mary Blair’s original art for the film,’ says Debbie Ferrée, Vice Chairman, EVP of Merchandising for DSW. ‘We took a close look at the film’s aesthetic details — the rich textures and fabric, the beautiful blue in Cinderella’s dress, even the French rococo-inspired scenery. Every whimsical touch featured in the footwear collection came right out of the film.’
‘The Glass Slipper Collection captures the beauty and sophistication of Cinderella, tapping into the childhood affinity women have for this beloved character while creating footwear that is relatable to their lives as adults,’ said Robert Oberschelp, Director, Disney Consumer Products.
Shoes in the limited-edition collection bear an embossed carriage logo and a signature blue jewel on the sole, making them not only a great fashion statement, but a stylish collector’s item as well. Ranging in price from $59.95 to $89.95, The Glass Slipper Collection is the perfect fit for generations of women who want to look fabulous and feel glamorous on their big night.

Photos: Louboutin’s Cinderella-Inspired Shoes Unveiled
Via its official Facebook page, Disney France has shared several photos of the new Cinderella-inspired shoes which resulted as a collaboration between designer Christian Louboutin and Disney.
According to Louboutin, he was inspired by the written version of the story by Charles Perrault as well as the images from Walt Disney’s film. ‘Cinderella is an icon of beauty, grace and magical love, but it also embodies the universe of the shoe,’ according to Louboutin (via Bing translate).
The shoes feature a delicate lace, embroidered with crystals and a pair of butterflies that are said to be the ‘parents’ of the shoes that were born from their sparkling wings.
Twenty pairs of the shoes will be produced and given away upon release of the Cinderella blu-ray, which occurs September 26 in France.
Below is a small gallery of images from Disney France whose original gallery also includes concept art and stills from Cinderella. Also worth noting is that one photo features additional forms labeled Snow White and Aurora, perhaps hinting at future releases from Louboutin and Disney.

Louboutin to Design Slipper in Honor of ‘Cinderella’ Diamond Edition
The ultimate fairytale that has represented, for centuries, the definitive expression of timeless love, transformation, the fulfillment of a dream come true and, above all, the happily ever after, comes alive in 2012 as The Walt Disney Studios and famed red-sole designer Christian Louboutin, come together to celebrate the magic and inspiration behind of one of the greatest fairytales of all time, Disney’s Cinderella.
Louboutin, whose designs are the epitome of style, power, femininity and elegance, was invited by Disney to bring Cinderella to life with a fashion forward twist. As part of this collaboration, Louboutin will design a Cinderella slipper putting his own magic touch on the world’s most famous pair of shoes. This announcement precedes Louboutin’s 20th Anniversary retrospective exhibition at the London Design Museum and the and the global release of Disney’s animated classic masterpiece Cinderella Diamond Edition on Blu-ray coming to market this Fall.
‘Isn’t it everyone’s dream, to once in your life part of a fairy tale? Walt Disney Studios gave me a wonderful opportunity to live this magical moment,’ says Louboutin. ‘I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.’
The designer’s mesmerizing creations are full of whimsy and glamour and his limitless imagination has helped him turn his dreams to reality and help women all over the world over feel like princesses.
More details on the collaboration are expected to be released in July, 2012.

‘The Muppets’ Kermit the Frog, Animal Inspired Shoes by Adidas Now Available
Adidas is now selling its shoes inspired by the Muppets, including the Superstar 2.0 Kermit the Frog and adiRise 2.0 Animal, both pictured here.
Retailing for $80, the Superstar 2.0 Kermit shoes feature a soft suede upper, the iconic adidas Superstar shell toe, Kermit sockliners and Kermit’s unmistakable felt collar over the tongue in honor of the original hip-hop artist.
The adiRise 2.0 Animal shoe — which retails for $100 — is based on the classic adidas basketball shoe, but features elements inspired by the famous drummer of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. It features a studded ankle strap with a gold lace jewel and drumstick print, plush collar lining inspired by Animal’s own fur, an Animal print on the tongue and sockliner and embossed drumsticks on the heel overlay.
