CONFIRMED: Walt Disney Animation Shorts Collection on Blu-ray; ‘Runaway Brain’ on DMA

'Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection'Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today confirmed an earlier Stitch Kingdom report that it will be releasing several of its animated shorts (from 2000 on) in a unique collection to be released on August 18 (now available for pre-order) as well as a digital release on August 11.

REPORT: ‘Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection’ on Blu-ray in August

'Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection'Ahead of any official announcements, Amazon has begun listing ‘Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection‘ on Blu-ray with a release date of August 18, 2015. Unfortunately there is no official description to be found and the only listed detail is that it runs 90 minutes in length. A cursory Google search proved to be ineffective.

We hope to know more about this title soon and its contents and will update as more information becomes available to us.

Disney’s ‘Mickey Mouse: Season One’ on DVD in December

'Mickey Mouse: Season One' DVDAhead of any official announcement, Amazon has begun listing ‘Mickey Mouse: Season One‘ with a release date of December 2, 2014, although it’s worth noting that Walmart (where the artwork came from in this case) has been listing it for an August 26, 2014 release for some time now.

According to the new listing, the DVD will contain nineteen of the shorts from the award-winning series’ first season as well as a bonus ‘making of’ featurette. The  bonus feature, ‘The Making of Disney Mickey Mouse,’ features creators discussing ‘the fun of working with one of the world’s most beloved and recognized characters as they create a fresh new take on an iconic character — Mickey Mouse — for the new millennium.’

SDCC: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Student Film to Screen at Comic-Con

'The Forgotten Rabbit'Though you’d be hard-pressed to find someone inside the Disney fan community today who doesn’t know of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, you don’t have to go very far outside of it or back in time to find many who don’t. Created by Walt Disney under contract for Universal Studios in 1927, Oswald was an instant and phenomenal success, but when Walt was kicked to the curb, Mickey Mouse would emerge a year later and after a bit of struggling of his own, Oswald was condemned to oblivion for decades.

'Cars Toons' Shorty Shorts 'Hiccups'Last night, Disney Channel debuted three new ‘Cars Toons’ Shorty Shorts: ‘Hiccups,’ ‘Bugged,’ and ‘Spinning.’ The new Shorty Shorts are appropriately named since each one clocks in at under 90 seconds, while offering a quick and fun peek into the world of Cars. Directed by Jeremy Lasky and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, Disney Pixar ‘Cars Toons’ feature some of our favorite characters in new and surprising situations.

‘Paperman’ First Images in High Resolution

The whistle almost blew calling for quitting time, but after what seems like months of teasing, Walt Disney Animation Studios has finally provided us with these hi-res first images from John Kahrs’ revolutionary short, Paperman, which will play before Wreck-It Ralph in theaters beginning November 2, 2012.

In the revolutionary short, which uses a combination of hand-drawn animation with computer graphics, a young New Yorker has only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get the attention of the girl of his dreams. Paperman is an innovative short about destiny and the power of second chances.
