Report: Snow White Attraction to Close at Walt Disney World in February 2012

Known to be closing permanently in order to make way for the Princess Fairytale Hall where guests will be able to meet and greet with their favorite Disney princesses, we now have a potential timeline for the closure of Snow White’s Scary Adventures. According to the following tweet from Crushinat0r, notice has been posted for Fantasyland Operations that the attraction will be closing permanently in February (exact date unknown). If this turns out to be the case, it’s more likely to be towards the end of the month, after the relocated Dumbo re-opens at its new location, though the two attractions are polar opposites when it comes to ridership.

Snow White’s Adventures opened with the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in 1971, though it famously did not originally feature Snow White in it as the attraction was meant to treat the rider as if they were the title character. She was eventually added to the attraction to eliminate the confusion. The adjective ‘Scary’ was also later added to the attraction’s name to qualify the experience for the bulk of Fantasyland’s audience.

The film will be represented in the New Fantasyland Expansion with the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster, which will be strictly from the point of view of the film’s seven dwarfs and feature a unique, swinging ride vehicle. Serving as an intermediate roller coaster experience, it will feature two lifts as opposed to The Great Goofini (formerly Goofy’s Barnstormer) which consists of one lift and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which has three.
