Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today announced that ‘Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy,’ featuring Disney Princess Rapunzel, will be available to own on DVD on February 24, 2015 (now available for pre-order).
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced it will be bringing the holiday episode from the popular Disney Junior franchise, ‘Holiday in Enchancia‘ to DVD on November 4, 2014 (now available for pre-order). The DVD will consist of the special plus four additional episodes as well as a free light-up holiday ornament. The episode has previously been released in book form.
When a snowstorm prevents King Roland from returning home in time for the holidays, Sofia leads her family on a brave expedition to find him. Princess Aurora from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty makes a special appearance to help Sofia and her animal friends reunite the royal family.
‘Pirate and Princess: Power of Doing Good,’ a pro-social touring event to introduce kids age 2-7 to the value of doing good, including caring for nature and animals and helping others, will begin Thursday, July 17 in Philadelphia before carrying on to Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Designed for kids and families, the tour is sponsored by Disney Junior, ASPCA, Youth Service America (YSA), National Wildlife Federation and First Book. Although the event is free, tickets are required and are available now at disneyjunior.thundertix.com.
In the episode, the wicked fairy, Miss Nettle (voiced by guest star Megan Mullally), disguises herself as a powerful sorceress and attempts to steal Sofia’s magical amulet. With the help of Snow White, Sofia must learn to trust her instincts and speak up when she suspects someone is not who or what they say they are. It features an original song titled ‘All You Desire’ as performed by Sascha the sorceress.
In 2014, JAKKS Pacific will introduce new toys into several of its already existing, successful line of Disney products. In addition, the company (as well as Halloween costume subsidiary Disguise) will introduce a new line of dolls and role-play products based on Disney’s Maleficent (May 30, 2014).
For Maleficent, JAKKS will offer several dolls including the 11.5″ Fashion Dolls consisting of Maleficent, her raven/man servant Diaval and Aurora, each retailing for $19.99. In addition, JAKKS will offer a Collector Doll edition of Aurora, retailing for $39.99. Role play items include Aurora’s Golden Wig with floral clip ($14.99), Aurora’s Floral Tiara ($7.99), Maleficent’s Signature Horns cowl ($19.99) and the light-up Maleficent’s Horns headband ($9.99).
Just ahead of the start of the 111th American International Toy Fair in New York, which kicks off on Sunday, February 16, Mattel and Fisher-Price have offered up some of their upcoming Disney licensed merchandise that will be rolled out throughout 2011. Season two of Disney Junior’s hit animated series ‘Sofia the First,’ is set to debuts on Friday, March 7 at 9:30 am ET/PT on Disney Channel. Sofia and her family take to the high seas for a royal vacation in the first-ever ‘Sofia the First’ primetime special, ‘Sofia the First: The Floating Palace,’ premiering Sunday, November 24 at 7:00 pm ET/PT on Disney Channel and Thursday, November 28 at 7:00 pm ET/PT on the Disney Junior channel. The undersea adventure, in which Sofia is magically transformed into a mermaid, features a special appearance by Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid, voiced by Disney Legend Jodi Benson who reprises her iconic role from the animated film. The special also introduces a new character named Oona, a young mermaid voiced by Kiernan Shipka.
