‘Pirate and Princess: Power of Doing Good,’ a pro-social touring event to introduce kids age 2-7 to the value of doing good, including caring for nature and animals and helping others, will begin Thursday, July 17 in Philadelphia before carrying on to Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Designed for kids and families, the tour is sponsored by Disney Junior, ASPCA, Youth Service America (YSA), National Wildlife Federation and First Book. Season two of Disney Junior’s hit animated series ‘Sofia the First,’ is set to debuts on Friday, March 7 at 9:30 am ET/PT on Disney Channel. For the second season, the series has rounded up some amazing talent to lend their voices to characters appearing throughout the season. Among the guest stars are: Alyson Hannigan (‘How I Met Your Mother’) as a young faun who always felt she wasn’t special enough; Ginnifer Goodwin (‘Once Upon A Time’) as the castle’s kitchen maid who aspires to be an inventor; Melissa Rauch (‘The Big Bang Theory’) as Ruby’s fairy godmother; Anna Camp and John Michael Higgins (both of Pitch Perfect) as a charmingly sinister princess and a tall fire-breathing dragon; Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby) and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) as two adventurous young sprites; Nick Offerman (‘Parks and Recreation’) as a well-connected fox who reigns over Enchancia’s woodland creatures; Robert Morse (‘Mad Men’) as an elderly retired sorcerer; Christian Borle (‘Smash’) as an ambitious, young castle steward out to take Baileywick’s job; Oliver Platt (‘The West Wing’) as a sickly old dragon; Tracey Ullman (‘The Tracey Ullman Show’) as a happily wicked witch; and Phylicia Rashad (‘The Cosby Show’) as a cranky ice witch who eventually allows her heart to be melted by the power of music.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today announced that ‘Sofia the First: Ready to be a Princess‘ — featuring five episodes, including a visit by Disney’s Princess Jasmine — will be arriving on DVD on September 17, 2013. In addition to the five episodes, each DVD comes complete with a bonus exclusive Sofia Doll Dress Up Kit.
On the day its new Disney Junior series, ‘Sofia the First,’ launches, Disney has also released Sofia the First: Story Theater for Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices.
The app contains two modes: the first is an interactive storybook, a retelling of the Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess movie which is narrated by Sofia (Ariel Winter) and features audio clips from the movie as well as dozens of individual animations.
After the successful debut of the Disney Channel Original Movie, Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess (available on DVD March 5, 2013), the new series debuts tomorrow morning on Disney Channel.
For the first episode, titled ‘Just One of the Princes,’ Sofia strives to become the first princess to earn a spot on her school’s flying derby team and although paired with the overly-anxious horse Minimus (voiced by ‘Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet), she learns to believe in herself and proves that a princess can do anything she sets her mind to.

In the first clip, Sofia (voiced by Ariel Winter) is introduced to her new bedroom in the castle by the royal steward, Baileywick (voiced by Tim Gunn). Used to sharing a small room with her mother, Sofia can’t believe her eyes at her new luck:
