With two weeks left to go before we see the theatrical release for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, we wanted to offer you a little something extra. While other sites are still scrambling to show you clips we shared with you days ago, we (virtually) traveled halfway around the Earth to Walt Disney Studios Australia just so we could bring you this spankin’ new featurette (and nearly fell off the planet in the process!).

In this new featurette titled The Coolest Job Ever (which is coincidentally the film’s tagline), Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, director Jon Turtletaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer offer up some additional insight into the relationship between the Sorcerer and his Apprentice. In addition, there’s quite a bit of new footage, mostly dealing with Horvath (Alfred Molina) and the grimhold, some new f/x which I don’t believe have been shown before and the film’s leads saying ‘money’ a lot.

For all of our coverage of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice which will include the world premiere on July 6, follow this bookmark.

July 6 Designated ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice Day’ in New York City; Free Concert at Bryant Park

It’s not often that Walt Disney Studios holds a world premiere in New York City, but having filmed just about all of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice throughout the city, we were thrilled to learn that the Big Apple will be playing host to one of the greatest summer blockbusters from Walt Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer.

In addition to a formal ceremony dedicating the day to the film and Fantasia segment, rock bands OneRepublic and Alpha Rev will be holding a free concert in honor of the film that evening at Bryant Park. The concert, open to the public, will take place shortly after the world premiere at the New Amsterdam Theatre, home to Disney Theatrical’s Mary Poppins.

Stitch Kingdom will be live at the premiere covering the event which — like the film it’s honoring — takes place all over the greatest city in the world.

New Clip from ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice:’ The Dragon Ring is the Thing

Walt Disney Studios has just released this short clip from the beginning of its upcoming release The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel.

In the clip, young Dave Stutler has stumbled into the mysterious Arcana Cabana shop in downtown Manhattan where he runs into its proprietor, Balthazar Blake, for the first time. Knowing this was no accident, Balthazar introduces Dave to Merlin’s dragon ring and sets the wheels of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice’s destiny in motion.

New Featurette on ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Focuses on Stunts

Walt Disney Studios has just released this new featurette for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice titled ‘Stunts.’

The featurette also manages to give us our first good look at the high-speed car chase through the streets of Manhattan which made national headlines when it was plagued with accidents (both directly and indirectly) during the time of the shoots.

Stitch Kingdom was also on hand to watch some of the filming of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice which involved some of the magic appearing throughout the car chase scenes. You can check that report out here (minor plot spoilers).

New Stills and Fun Facts from Disney’s ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’

Walt Disney Studios recently sent us a couple of new stills from their upcoming release The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Toby Kebbell and Monica Belluci.

They also asked us to share a few behind-the-scene facts from the movie with you:

In the film, Maxim Horvath (Molina) conjures up a small pack of wolves that chase title character Dave (Baruchel) through a New York City subway station. Although the station is — at times — a rather incredible set, the wolves are very real and are named Bandit, Sierra, Samson and Takoda. They live at Howling Woods Farm, a wolf sanctuary in Jackson Township, NJ. Howling Woods even has a fascinating collection of dozens of behind-the-scene photos from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice as well as the four-legged stars’ appearance in the film’s calendar.

Every single page of the enormous and constantly growing Ecantus, which is featured in one of the new stills with Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel, had to be aged individually. It was done so by experts in medieval bookbinding who used a battery of methods to do so, ranging from sanding the papers to wetting them with tea.

Sorcerer Sun Lok’s (Gregory Woo) armored skirt was made by the costuming department from more than a thousand hand-pounded leather plates and was bounded row by row. If that wasn’t enough, they even made a second copy of the armored skirt exactly the same way.

The seven domains in the Merlin Circle are: Space-Time, Motion, Matter, Elements, Transformation, Mind and, in the center of it all, Love — the forbidden domain. The multi-colored flames that shoot out of the Merlin Circle in the underground lab were created like a gigantic stove-top burner with five rods, each six inches below the deck in the water tank.

Below is our gallery of all the stills from the film we’ve received so far. The two newest are at the beginning of the gallery.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opens nationwide on July 14.

New Extended Look at ‘Fantasia’-Inspired Mop Scene from Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Walt Disney Studios and the Disney Channel have just released this clip of Sorcerer’s Apprentice stars Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel introducing the scene in the new film inspired by the title segment from Disney’s Fantasia in which the apprentice breaks a cardinal rule and attempts to use his new-found craft as a shortcut only to find himself knee-deep in trouble (and water).

Walt Disney Studios Conjures up Two New Television Ads for ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’

Walt Disney Studios has just made two of its new television spots for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Neither appears to offer much in the way of new cool footage and completely focus on the relationship between Sorcerer Balthazar (Nicolas Cage) and Apprentice Dave (Jay Baruchel), but they’re still worth a look.

‘Apprentice Wanted’ plays on the theme of the film’s tagline: the coolest ever and basically reads as a typical want ad with footage of the film tossed in for good measure.

The second ad begins by playing a bit on the film’s inspiration, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Mickey Mouse from Disney’s Fantasia, but quickly spins into a more generic advertisement for the film, right down to the old man’s shoes line that seems to find its way into everything promoting the film.

New Clip from ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice:’ The Coolest Scene Ever

The movie with the tagline The Coolest Job Ever introduces to us what it calls The Coolest Scene Ever in this new peek at the upcoming release from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Back in 1940, Mickey Mouse thrilled audiences as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a student of the great wizard Yensid (that’s Disney backwards), when an attempted work shortcut using magic ran afoul. Just 70 years later, the film based on that single sequence from Disney’s Fantasia pays its homage when apprentice Dave (Jay Baruchel) ignores the advice of his master Balthazar (Nicolas Cage).

Don’t blink and you’ll also catch a glimpse of one of the many very special items stocked at Balthazar’s shop, the Arcana Cabana.

‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Character Poster #5: Balthazar Blake (The Sorcerer)

Sorcerer's Apprentice: Balthazar Blake (The Sorcerer)After a week, we finally have the last — but certainly not least — entry in the character posters for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a student of Merlin and a Sorcerer.  More than 1,000 years old, Balthazar has been searching the globe until he finds the Prime Merlinean, the descendent of Merlin and inheritor of his great powers.  When Balthazar finally discovers him in 10-year-old Dave Stutler, he finds himself with a very reluctant sorcerer’s apprentice.

‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Character Poster #4: Dave (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice)

Sorcerer's Apprentice: Dave (The Apprentice)The latest in a series of character posters from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer is Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), the title character himself.

In the film, Dave Stutler is a nerdy NYU physics major, lacking confidence and poise, not very popular with girls or even his fellow students.  At the age of 10, he experiences a frightening incident when he encounters sorcerer Balthazar Blake after wandering into the bizarre Arcana Cabana curio shop.

He’s given a dragon ring that comes to life on his finger, and he’s told that he’ll be a very important sorcerer himself.

He then witnesses a furious battle between Balthazar and another sorcerer named Maxim Horvath which made him want to forget the whole matter…until both Balthazar and Horvath re-enter his life 10 years later, forcing him to confront a destiny he would very much like to ignore!

“Dave is his own worst enemy, the architect of his own misery,” says Baruchel. “He spends his life trying to live down that moment in the Arcana Cabana when he first encountered Balthazar and Horvath.

“He gravitates towards physics, which is the discipline he gives his life to.  When he meets up with Balthazar again, the sorcerer tells Dave that it was no coincidence that he drifted towards physics because although illusion and magic are different, magic and science are the same thing.”

As usual, we will update the poster to its hi-res version once we receive it from Walt Disney Studios in North America.
