Splash Mountain Receives Lap Bar Restraints at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (Photo)
It’s a perennial rumor each time Splash Mountain goes down for refurbishment, be it at the Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort, but this time it’s confirmed: lap bar restraints have been added to Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain.
Screamscape confirms the report with a photo of the vehicles with the restraints in place as they have just begun been cycling through the attraction for testing purposes. The white boxes you see sitting in the logs are simply dummy weights designed to simulate the weight of guests to ensure the logs travel through the attraction properly.
WDW Refurb Update: Splash Mountain Closure for January 2011 Announced
With what should come as little to no surprise, the official Walt Disney World website has now posted a closure for Splash Mountain in January for the Magic Kingdom’s attraction annual refurbishment. Currently the site has the attraction as closing on January 3 and re-opening on February 1, 2011, but last-day-of-the-month dates are always suspect and suggest that the closure may continue on into the next month, although this is not the publicly available information at this time. Should we learn of the closure extending into February, we will update the article and note the changes via our official Twitter and Facebook pages.
Splash Mountain Closure at Magic Kingdom Confirmed for January/February 2010
After a couple of initial reports of a closure for an extended closure of Splash Mountain 2010, I have followed up on the request of a Stitch Kingdom reader and am sad to report that the attraction is in fact listed on at least one official Disney source as being scheduled for closure from January 3 through February 27, 2010. ReSearch has been updated to reflect this and subscribers affected by this change have been notified.
