Lucasfilm has released a couple of clips from its upcoming episode of ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ titled ‘Path of the Jedi.’ The first clip is titled ‘Yoda’s Guidance’ and features Kanan telepathically (?) receiving a message from Master Yoda — whom Kanan believed to have been long deceased — voiced in the January 5 episode by the legendary Frank Oz, who, of course, originated the role of Yoda.
Nominations for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards were announced earlier today, honoring the best animation in film, television, video games and beyond for the previous year. The Walt Disney Company made a strong showing, as one might expect, with Big Hero 6 and ‘Disney’s Mickey Mouse’ cartoons, but Craig McCracken’s ‘Wonder Over Yonder’ on Disney XD is also respectable in its showing, while new series ‘Star Wars Rebels’ struggled to make an impact with just one nomination, as did ‘Sofia the First’ which failed to show at all.
One day ahead of a highly anticipated television premiere, Disney Channels Worldwide President and Chief Creative Officer, Gary Marsh, announced plans to produce a second season of the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” from Lucasfilm.
Marsh said, “The global expectations for this series could not have been any higher. And I am proud to say that the team at Lucasfilm has delivered something that has surpassed even that incredibly high bar – artistically and thematically.”
Via the official app, New York Comic-Con has released the full panel schedule for the upcoming 2014 New York Comic-Con. Below, we have compiled information on all of the official panels covering the Disney universes of Disney, Star Wars, Marvel and ABC television. Please note that all information below was hand-typed and may contain typographical errors, so be sure to compare with the schedule for exact information. Also, it should go without saying that the schedule is subject to change and may not in fact be complete. On that note, it’s only fair to point out that the one ABC series that is on the schedule, ‘Forever,’ is being done so courtesy of co-producers Warner Bros. Television. We will attempt to update this article as much as possible.
Ahead of any official announcements, we have learned that the global television debut of the hour-long special, ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion‘ will premiere on Disney Channels around the world on Friday, October 3 at 9:00 pm ET/PT. Airing in 163 countries and in 34 languages, the series itself will also begin airing on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on Disney XD.
One day after the series begins airing, on October 14, the ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion’ episode will be available to own on DVD — now available for pre-order.
This is a placeholder for my review of the first episode of Disney XD’s ‘Star Wars Rebels’ that was screened last night to an invitation-only crowd at San Diego Comic-Con. It is a placeholder because I did not have the opportunity to actually attend the screening held at the Reading Theater in the Gaslamp District. Perhaps when I actually get to see ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ I will update this article. Until then, this is a placeholder. And in order to fill the space which is being held, I will indulge my self and explain just why it’s a placeholder.
Ahead of any official announcements, Walmart today began accepting pre-orders for two upcoming DVD releases: ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion‘ and ‘Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars.’ Neither title offers a release date at this time, although the timing could not be more appropriate given the start of the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con.
Presumably ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion‘ is the full title of the upcoming hour-long special that will air in October, serving as the lead-in for the Disney XD series which takes place between Episodes III and IV in the Star Wars saga.
Just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Lucasfilm has just released an extended trailer for its upcoming animated series, ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ which will debut as a one hour special on Disney XD in October.
The Jedi have been wiped out and the Empire spreads tyranny through the galaxy. Hope runs thin. But on the small planet of Lothal a big change is looming. A group of rebels meet a 14-year-old con artist named Ezra and soon it’s clear their destinies are linked. Aboard their ship, the Ghost, Ezra and the rebels embark on an adventure to ignite a rebellion and strike back against the Empire.
Admittedly as much as we try, it’s darn next to impossible — actually probably right on top of impossible — to keep up with every single detail of every single project under the Disney umbrella — though we try! That’s why it came as a bit of a shock to us when we saw this cover for an upcoming 176-page original novel titled ”Star Wars Rebels Servants of the Empire: Edge of the Galaxy’ based on the upcoming Disney XD series.
Yesterday, Lucasfilm introduced a new character from its upcoming animated series, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ — Agent Kallus, an Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) agent. Voiced by David Oyelowo, Kallus is described a ‘ruthless, unforgiving, and an example of the Empire’s tyranny.’ Also described as a ‘rebel hunter,’ Kallus’ position is on the ground, leading stormtroopers in face-to-face battles against anti-Imperial groups — and his combat skills are impressive, including the use of a modified version of Zeb’s honor guard staff.
