‘Catch Stitch Sweepstakes’ Offers Disney Fantasy Vacation from Disney Cruise Line
Beginning May 28, Disney Cruise Line hopefuls will have the opportunity to win a seven day voyage aboard the Disney Fantasy with the ‘Catch Stitch Sweepstakes’ available at CatchStitchSweepstakes.com. At stake is a single grand prize of either a western- or eastern-Caribbean vacation aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Fantasy.
Although the sweepstakes’ temporary homepage is advertising a vacation at Disney Cruise Line’s private island, Castaway Cay, the official rules clearly define the prize as being a regular vacation which will, of course, include day stops at Castaway Cay. The vacation will be for up to four guests and includes roundtrip airfare.
What’s most promising about the sweepstakes, however, isn’t necessarily the prize, but the fact that it’s being developed and operated by Prizelogic, the same company that did the amazing ‘board game’ sweepstakes for Disney Cruise Line. According to the Catch Stitch Sweepstakes, ‘experiment 626 is loose onboard Disney Fantasy. The alien is blue, fluffy, and considered 4-armed and dangerous. Join the investigation and help track down Stitch for a chance to win your own Disney Cruise Line Vacation to Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island!’
While entrants will each receive one entry for registering before the entry period ends on August 31, they also have the opportunity to earn up to six bonus entries by using clues to virtually search the Disney Fantasy to locate where Stitch is currently hiding.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ Blu-ray Release to Join ‘Emperor’s New Groove,’ ‘Atlantis’ on June 11
When it comes to releasing animated classics from Walt Disney Animation Studios, there appears to be little to no rhyme or reason for the release order and timing — at times it’s just downright mayhem. When Blu-ray releases seem to conveniently coincide with a release date anniversary milestone, such as Mulan’s 15th, and touted as such, it often makes consumers wonder why some films seem to have been forgotten.
Enter Lilo & Stitch which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2012. Unfortunately the year came and went without any fanfare save for a respectable mention at D23′s national ‘Fanniversary’ events. In 2013, however, 11 years after the film’s release, the tides are apparently about to turn.
With still no official confirmation from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment as of yet, Amazon.com began accepting pre-orders for Lilo & Stitch/Stitch Has a Glitch. While it appears there may have been a date associated with the release, not only has Amazon.com removed any references to a release date, it’s actually removed release dates from The Emperor’s New Groove
and Atlantis: The Lost Empire
which were initially listed with a June 11, 2013 release date. What appears to be final artwork for the covers has been added, however.
As always, we will provide more information as it becomes available to us and such news would appear imminent at this point.
UPDATE: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has now officially confirmed the release of all three movies (and their respective sequels) to be released on Blu-ray on June 11. No details for bonus features have been supplied for any of the releases.

MINDstyle Re-imagines Popular Stitch Vinyl Collectibles by Eric Tan and Jenny Chung
MINDstyle has recently previewed a couple of exciting new Stitch-inspired art toy collectibles (ATCs) by Eric Tan and Jenny Chung inspired by their previous creations.
A smaller version of Jenny Chung’s Lilo CosPlay Experiment 626 figure was available exclusively as a purchase with purchase at the D23 Expo in 2009. Guests who made a qualifying purchase (it was the TRON-painted V.I.N.CENT for myself) were able to purchase up to three of the CosPlay figures for $23 each. To their credit, however, MINDstyle added to each pre-order an additional figure gratis due to some complications with order fulfillment. Now Chung has followed up with a new Lilo CosPlay figure inspired by the Experiment 626 project, this time Lilo is dressed as Stitch’s gal-pal, Angel. Perhaps most remarkable of all, MINDstyle says it will be available at select Disney Store locations this holiday season.
Although MINDstyle apparently has given a first look of it several months ago, it has recently announced that Eric Tan’s Lava Stitch vinyl collectible, a follow-up to the Tiki Stitch, will also be available for this holiday season at select retail locations, although presumably not Disney Store.

Character Changes Coming to Disney World for April/May 2010: Ariel’s Grotto Closes, Lotso Arrives
Although most character meet & greets at the Walt Disney World Resort are fairly standard from day to day, there are a couple of times per year when there are significant changes. These changes usually occur in April/May and September/October. In 2010, these changes are further complicated by the closure of Toontown and the Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom. Since we’re already getting into April, it’s time to take a look at some of the expected upcoming changes.
April 11 will be the last day for Ariel’s Grotto. It is expected that Ariel will be appearing in human form near the Adventureland Veranda (where Lilo and Stitch currently appear) beginning around May 9 which is when a lot of the changes are set to occur, but the exact date appears to be uncertain at this time. When Ariel does begin appearing in Adventureland, she’s expected to bring Prince Eric with her. Previously an exclusive for the ill-fated but well-received Pirate and Princess Party, this will mark Eric’s full-time meet & greet debut, which we’re told is essentially a test for a possible permanent meet & greet with him in the Fantasy Forest expansion (we’re still holding our breaths for Gaston too). As Ariel and Eric are moving in, Lilo will be leaving the Magic Kingdom (but still appearing with Stitch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and Stitch will return to Tomorrowland. No word on whether Ariel will bring her dinglehopper with her at the new locale.
Also on April 11, Goofy will be leaving Frontierland and move to Adventureland where he’ll be dressed as a pirate and hang out near the quartermaster’s desk at the Pirates League. Winnie the Pooh and Tigger will relocate to the Toontown Fair train station. Finally on this date, Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar will join the Frontierland Hoedown, replacing Liverlips and Shaker of the Country Bears.
The majority of the changes are set to take place on May 9. In addition to the assumed date of Ariel’s re-appearance in the Magic Kingdom, the following character changes are expected across the parks:
- Mary Poppins and the formerly-rare Bert will be appearing in Fantasyland near the carrousel.
- Wendy will be joining Peter Pan once more in the new meet & greet location in Fantasyland
- Pooh and Tigger will leave the Toontown Train Station in Fantasyland and move to Town Square
- Chip and Dale are moving from Town Square to Tomorrowland
- Snow White is moving from Town Square to Cinderella’s Wishing Well
- Lotso from Toy Story 3 will be debuting at the Animation Building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, replacing Carl, Russell and Dug from UP (they are expected to leave in April and may appear at the Animal Kingdom’s Oasis)
- Jojo and Goliath will no longer meet near Playhouse Disney Live. Jojo will remain at the Play’n'Dine meal where she’ll be joined by Handy Manny
- Piglet(!), Pooh and Stitch will join Donald, Daisy and Minnie at the Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the mornings. This will be the only current opportunity to meet Piglet outside of dining at Crystal Palace.
This information comes from a very reliable source in the way of WDW Character Hunt which also reports some upcoming buzz for the October changes:
- Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled will begin making appearances
- Belle’s Storytime will close (the show will return in some form in the Fantasy Forest expansion)
The site also reports that it’s basically a given that Phineas and Ferb will not be appearing in the parks until at least 2011.
We will report more news as it becomes available.

First Pages of ‘Kingdom Keepers 3′ by Ridley Pearson Available Online
On his official blog, Ridley Pearson, popular author of young adult novels, has made the first several pages of his upcoming title Kingdom Keepers 3: Disney in Shadow (April 6, 2010; Disney Hyperion) available for download (Adobe Acrobat Reader required). The newest book in the series has our heroes back in the theme parks of Walt Disney World with a new challenge, obstacles and enemies to overcome.
As Ridley has promised us, Stitch has a prominent role in the book, appearing first on page one, but his badness level appears to be questionable at best. Only time (and the rest of the book) will tell if Stitch counts Maleficent and the Overtakes or Finn and the rest of the DHIs amongst his ‘ohana.

Virtual Jack Sparrow to Board the Disney Dream?
We already know that children aboard the new Disney Dream from Disney Cruise Line will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite characters in mobile versions of Turtle Talk with Crush and Stitch Encounter but now DCL may be hinting at yet another popular Disney character added to the mix.
An easy-to-miss detail in current casting call notices for the Disney Dream note that eligible cast members may also be asked to voice Stitch, Crush and/or Jack Sparrow. So it appears Captain Jack may be going interactive, or perhaps simply be making the ship’s announcements.
