star wars weekends 2001 at disneys hollywood studios 111x160 Star Wars Weekends 2011 Celebrity Lineup AnnouncedThe official Disney Parks blog has revealed the full line-up of celebrities attending this year’s Star Wars Weekends event taking place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 20 through June 12, 2011.

Once again, Jedi Mickey and Princess Leia Minnie will be joined by some of the brightest stars from the saga. Celebrity Hosts for the event this year are James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Ashley (seen in the photo above with R2-MK and Jedi Mickey) will host “Clone Wars: Behind the Force,” a closer look inside the popular animated TV series. James will present another event-first: he will star in a one-man show that showcases some of the many voices he has performed throughout his career, including those from The Clone Wars.

Schedule and Map for 2010 Star Wars Weekends Weekend #1 Now Available

The guidemap for the first weekend of the 2010 Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World resort has now been made available online.

Half the park is split between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire as usual with the Star Wars Weekends merchandise shops finding themselves amongst the Siths. At Boba’s Bounty, one will find merchandise exclusive to the event while Darkside Depot will offer more traditional fare.

stc445248LARGE 106x160 Disney Parks Confirms Closure Dates for Star ToursWith Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios rapidly approaching, Star Wars news on all fronts is pouring in.

In addition to announcing the personal appearance of R2-MK at Star Wars Weekends this year, Disney Parks has also confirmed closure dates for the Star Tours attraction at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

As we already advised back in March, the attraction is scheduled to close on September 8 with an expected re-opening date of May 20, 2011 in Orlando while the Anaheim version will close much earlier than originally anticipated on July 27 with an expected re-opening  date of May 10, 2011.

This year, the SWW merchandise shop (Boba’s Bounty and Dark Side Depot) can be located near the Studio Backlot Tour, across from the Studio Catering Company.

Walt Disney World Character Brief: Bolt Makes Awesome Return as UP Toons Take Off

Sorry, Carl, but you’re being evicted from the Animation Building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and no number of balloons are going to save you now. The final date for the UP crew of Carl Fredricksen, Russell and Dug is May 1. On May 9, Lotso from Toy Story 3 will be taking that spot as previously reported. We hear that Lotso’s backdrop will be that of the Sunnyside Daycare.

Thanks to @PaulChadkin, we have learned that while Muppet*Vision 3D is closed for its upgrade from tomorrow through May 14, Jessie from Toy Story and Bolt from Bolt will be making rare appearances, greeting the crowds.

Disney Star Wars Action Figures and Racers Series 4 Announced

Sold for $8.95 each, the series 4 of the popular Disney Star Wars action figures includes: Pete as Boba Fett (with accessory helmet, jetpack and blaster); Donald Duck as a Han Solo in Carbonite (with accessory staff and carbonite block); Mickey Mouse as Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (with accessory green lightsaber); Goofy as C-3PO; and Minnie Mouse as Princess Leia in Boushh disguise (with accessory helmet, staff and thermal detonator).
