Zachary Levi, Mandy Moore, Alan Menken and Randy Newman to Perform at Oscars


Nominees for best original song will be performed this year at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Sunday, February 27, 2011. Today, producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced the artists who will perform the nominated songs on the Kodak Theatre stage on Oscar Night.

Disney will see both of its nominated songs, ‘I See the Light’ from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Tangled and ‘We Belong Together’ from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 presented by their original performers.

‘Toy Story 3,’ ‘Alice’ Lead Oscar Nominations for Walt Disney Studios

The nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced earlier today by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2009 Oscar® winner Mo’Nique. When all is said and done, Walt Disney Studios racked up a total of thirteen nominations, the bulk of which were divided by Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Disney’s ‘Tangled’ Available to Own March 29, 2011; Limited Edition Deluxe Rapunzel Doll Available for Pre-Order

Limited Edition Rapunzel Doll from Disney StoreDisney Store has now begun accepting pre-orders for Tangled, which will be available to own on March 29, 2011. The official site now offers the 3D Blu-ray/BD/DVD/Digital File combo edition, the Blu-ray/DVD combo edition and the DVD edition, however only the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack offers an online-only pre-order bonus of a set of four lithographs plus the ability to save up to $20 on a future purchase.

Tonner Announces 2011 Collection Featuring Rapunzel, Alice in Wonderland, Muppets and More

Ahead of the 2011 International Toy Fair in New York City, Tonner has announced a partial list of its new releases for this year, amongst which are several Disney properties including Rapunzel from Tangled, several dolls from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, The Muppets and Tamina from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Rapunzel (LE 1000) by TonnerRapunzel ($189.99, LE 1000) from Tonner features a 16″ body and comes dressed in a custom-printed satin blouse with lace trim and lace-up detail, paired with a matching custom-printed satin skirt.  Matching ballet slippers also included.

‘The Lion King,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ Others to Make 3D Blu-ray Debut in 2011

The Lion King on 3D Blu-rayThe Walt Disney Company announced plans today to release at least fifteen of its films on Disney 3D Blu-ray throughout 2011. Among the titles scheduled to be released are: The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and new films TRON: Legacy and Tangled.

Bolt, which has already been released as part of certain 3D Blu-ray packages, will also be available for everyone to own in 3D, as will Meet the Robinsons, G-FORCE, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Chicken Little which has been available in 3D via on-demand services.

‘Tangled’ 3D Blu-Ray Tops Amazon.com Sales Charts with Release Date Unknown

'Tangled' on Disney 3D Blu-ray/BD/DVD ComboAlthough no official release date has been announced, the 4-disc edition of Disney’s Tangled is dominating the Amazon.com blu-ray sales charts in the #2 position, bested only by Inception. Across all formats, it’s also second only to Toy Story 3.

The movie will be available in 4-disc (BD3D/BD/DVD/Digital Copy), 2-disc (BD/DVD) and 1-disc (DVD) formats, all of which are now available for pre-order.

According to Amazon.com, bonus features will include:

  • Two original storybook openings
  • 50th Animated Countdown
  • Three deleted scenes (BD editions only)
  • The Making of a Fairy Tale (BD editions only)

‘Modern,’ ‘Tangled,’ ‘Alice,’ ‘Toys’ Golden Globe Noms for Disney

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its list of nominees for the 68th Annual Golden Globes this morning and Walt Disney Studios, Disney/Pixar and Disney-ABC Television Group (DATG) offered up a solid selection of nominations in films and television.

Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 is the weakest link in the nomination chain with a single, but very crucial nomination in the Best Animated Feature Film category in which it competes against Walt Disney Animation Studios’ own Tangled along with unsurprising entries from DreamWorks Animation, Universal Studios and Sony Pictures.

Disney’s ‘Tangled’ Surpasses $100M Mark at Domestic Box Office

Disney’s 50th animated feature film, Tangled, passed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office today. Tangled, which began its theatrical run over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, becomes the 68th title in the history of The Walt Disney Studios to reach this milestone. In addition, Tangled is the only film this year to earn an A+ CinemaScore, the highest rating to be given by moviegoing audiences.

“With its creative storytelling and lovable characters, Tangled is the sort of cinematic adventure that makes Disney films so appealing to audiences of all ages,” said Rich Ross, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. “We’re so thrilled that audiences love it as much as we do, and we’re looking forward to a great run through the holiday season.”

Annies to Consider ‘Tangled’ and ‘Toy Story 3;’ Awards ‘Waking Sleeping Beauty’ Documentary

Despite The Walt Disney Company’s public protests against the prestigious Annies animation awards with what it feels are voters heavily sided with DreamWorks Animation, Disney’s Tangled and Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 are in contention for several major awards.

The pair are not only nominated for Best Animated Feature, but both Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) and Dan Fogelman (Tangled) are being considered in the Writing in a Feature Production category. Toy Story 3‘s Lee Unkrich is also nominated for Directing in a Feature Production.
