Walt Disney Studios has recently provided us with a slew of behind-the-scene photos, character art and concept art for its upcoming release from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Tangled. If that wasn’t enough, we also received a few additional stills, all of which we are pleased to share with you in hi-res format.
A couple of days ago, Walt Disney Animation Studios released a ‘Double Tower’ parody of the universal sensation ‘Giant Double Rainbow’ video by Paul ‘Bear’ Vasquez which to date has seen nearly 14.5 million views since its debut just 8 months ago. Today there are countless numbers of videos and songs that have been inspired by the video, but perhaps none (or very few anyway) have disappointed Bear as much as Disney’s promotion did. What affected Bear isn’t so much that it was done however, but how it was done. A huge fan of Disney (or Disneyland as he points out to me below), Bear is none too pleased that Disney’s marketing made no attempt to contact him regarding their efforts, ‘taking his words’ as he puts it in his emails below. He’s hoping Disney will see the error of its ways however and at least treat him to a Disneyland in recognition of the joy he and both the company bring to the world. Personally, I believe Disneyland should go one further and give him and his family nothing short of a ticker-tape parade, but here’s hoping he at least gets a trip out of it.
Walt Disney Studios held a screening and press event for Tangled earlier today in Los Angeles according to tweets by LatinoReview.com’ George Roush (@elguapo1). We hear that in addition to appearances by the film’s stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, the event was attended by John Lasseter and Alan Menken. Roush also tweeted out a photo that features the new meet & greet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider characters that will be making their Disney Parks debut beginning October 15.
Note that we do anticipate the meet and greet areas at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts to embellish on Rapunzel’s hair which is significantly hidden in the photo.
Merchandising isn’t the only big marketing move when it comes to promoting the latest Disney film, books are huge business too. Personally, I’ve become a huge fan of the junior novelization series which are often available a month or more before the film is released. It’s always fascinating to see just how similar the book, which is based on the actual scripts, is (or isn’t) to the final product. Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3 were dead-on while The Sorcerer’s Apprentice makes one imagine there’s a lot of film still sitting on the cutting room floor.
Via its official Facebook page for Tangled, Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first of several new videos today to promote the film: a parody of the viral ‘Double Rainbow’ YouTube sensation by Guy ‘Bear’ Vasquez.
While treading through the forest one day, Flynn Rider stumbles upon one beautiful tower — no wait, it’s a double tower!
As an added treat, there’s even a bit of new animation, albeit not quite Disney Digital ready given Flynn’s poor equipment (and memory capacity).
Our good friends at Animatie.blog.nl have given us a look at this vibrant French poster for Disney’s Tangled (a.k.a Rapunzel, a.k.a. Raiponce).
In the poster, Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) finds himself at the mercy of Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) and cham-pal Pascal as he finds himself dangling from the hidden tower. Apparently 18 years of home-study hasn’t gone wasted on Rapunzel who has learned the importance of simple machines such as the pulley and might also be interested in teaching Flynn the concept of terminal velocity.

On its official blog, Disney Parks has shared some concept art for the upcoming meet & greet with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider at the Disneyland Resort. The art and blog entry reveal Disney’s plans on how to turn Rapunzel’s ~70 feet of hair into a reality.
Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will begin greeting guests on October 15 at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. At Walt Disney World, the duo can be found at the Magic Kingdom in the Fairytale Garden near Cinderella Castle, where Storytime with Belle currently takes place (that show ends September 12 in preparation of the transition). At Disneyland, Rapunzel and Flynn will be found at what is currently Gepetto’s Sweet Shoppe.

On the official Facebook page for Tangled, Walt Disney Animation Studios has shared this new piece of concept art which shows how Rapunzel has opted to bide her time as an avid painted for 18 years locked in the tower.
As a plus, it would also seem to double as fine target practice for her chameleon pal, Pascal.
