ABC will be bringing star power to Comic-Con 2014 with returning fan favorites ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ as well as hit series ‘Resurrection,’ upcoming holiday special ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’ and highly anticipated midseason series ‘Marvel’s Agent Carter.’
Laura Marano and Leigh-Allyn Baker team up to star in the comedic buddy adventure Bad Hair Day, a Disney Channel Original Movie scheduled to premiere in 2015. Leigh-Allyn Baker makes her foray into producing as executive producer of the movie.
Marano stars as a high school tech whiz who’s bound and determined to be crowned prom queen. But on the big day, everything that can go wrong does go wrong, starting with her sudden and epically uncontrollable hair and her once lovely yet now destroyed prom dress. She soon comes to rely on a down-on-her-luck cop (Baker) who’s in pursuit of a missing necklace that the teen unwittingly has in her possession. Prom day goes from bad to mad as the pair is pursued by a dogged jewel thief on a wild ride across the city. Christian Campbell has been cast as the jewel thief.
Disney Publishing Worldwide today announced it will be publishing a prequel to the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants, titled Isle of the Lost. It will be written by bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz, whose previous titles include The Witches of East End and Blue Bloods. It will be available in hardcover on May 5, 2015.
Legend has it that long ago, the most infamous villains were imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, cut off from the rest of the world as a punishment for their misdeeds. In this dark and dreary place, the likes of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella de Vil and the Evil Queen reside and evil reigns supreme. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos are their descendants, the teenaged sons and daughters of the Isle’s most villainous characters, and they are coming of age on the Isle of the Lost.

Disney Television Animation has begun production on ‘Pickle & Peanut,’ a buddy-comedy series about two unlikely friends – an emotional pickle and a freewheeling peanut – voiced by Jon Heder and Johnny Pemberton respectively.
Scheduled for a fall 2015 premiere on Disney XD, ‘Pickle & Peanut’ employs an innovative mix of 2-D animation and live-action clips to tell the small-town adventures of two underdogs who dream up plans to be anything but ordinary. The series was created by Noah Z. Jones and developed by Joel Trussell. Both Jones and Trussell serve as executive producers. Mark Rivers is the story editor.
‘Pirate and Princess: Power of Doing Good,’ a pro-social touring event to introduce kids age 2-7 to the value of doing good, including caring for nature and animals and helping others, will begin Thursday, July 17 in Philadelphia before carrying on to Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Designed for kids and families, the tour is sponsored by Disney Junior, ASPCA, Youth Service America (YSA), National Wildlife Federation and First Book. Marvel’s most popular super hero, Spider-Man, swings into a new season in ‘Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors,’ premiering Sunday, August 31 at 9:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD’s Marvel Universe programming block.
The new season begins with Spider-Man accepting an invitation to become an Avenger. Alongside Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Falcon. Accompanied by Nova, Iron Fist, Power Man and White Tiger, Spider-Man and the team take on dangerous S.H.I.E.L.D. missions and encounter some of their most thrilling adventures yet.
Season two of Disney’s popular animated comedy series ‘Gravity Falls,’ starring Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal as Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins who spend the summer with their eccentric Great Uncle Stan (aka Grunkle Stan) will debuts Friday, August 1 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on Disney Channel and on Disney XD on August 4 at 9:00 pm ET/PT. Future new episodes will then debut on Disney XD with subsequent airings on Disney Channel.
Tom Ascheim, President, ABC Family, today announced that the network will continue to grow its slate of original programming with a new hilariously scary, hidden-camera, funny-prank show, ‘Freak Out.’ The half-hour series, from SallyAnn Salsano’s 495 Productions, has been picked up for 14 episodes and will premiere this fall during the network’s well-known programming event ’13 Nights of Halloween.’
Each episode of ‘Freak Out’ will feature an unsuspecting mark, whose fears come to life before their eyes with elaborate special effects, intricate makeup, twisted actors, and multiple cameras capturing the scenario from every angle. Every frighteningly hilarious prank is deviously tailored with help from the victim’s friends and family to turn an everyday situation into someone’s scary moment, until they realize they’ve been pranked.
