Disney Television Animation has begun production on ‘The Lion Guard,’ an animated television movie and series that continues the story introduced 20 years ago in the acclaimed Disney animated film The Lion King. Geared towards kids age 2-7 and their families, ‘The Lion Guard’ television movie will premiere in Fall 2015, and the subsequent series will debut in early 2016 on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.
ABC Family has begun production in Los Angeles on three drama series pilots: ‘Recovery Road,’ ‘Stitchers’ and ‘Unstrung.’
Based on the popular young adult novel by Blake Nelson, ‘Recovery Road’ focuses on a teenage girl dealing with addiction. Maddie has a reputation as a party girl who doesn’t think she has a problem, until she’s confronted one day by her school guidance counselor and forced to choose between expulsion and rehab. Trying to save face, Maddie chooses to spend her nights living with other recovering addicts at a rehab facility and her days pretending everything is perfectly normal among her high school classmates and her closest friends. The pilot was written by Bert V. Royal and Karen DiConcetto, who will also serve as executive producers alongside Beth Miller and Craig Piligian from Pilgrim Studios and Danielle VonZerneck.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that ‘Scandal: The Complete Third Season‘ will be available to own on DVD on September 23. Among the bonus features are behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes, bloopers and an extended version of the season finale.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the Disney Junior favorite, ‘Doc McStuffins: School of Medicine,’ will be available to own on DVD on September 9, 2014. The compilation DVD includes five episodes that look at the various specialties in which doctors practice medicine. In addition, the DVD includes an exclusive Doc McStuffins dress up play set.

Disney Channel will launch a vibrant new channel logo and overall on-air graphics design on Friday, May 23 in the U.S. and on each of the other 42 Disney Channels worldwide this year. All interstitial programming, identification spots and programming menus will feature the new logo, style and palette. Jay Leno guest stars in ‘Phineas and Ferb Save Summer,’ a special one-hour episode, premiering Monday, June 9 at 10:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD. The episode ushers in several new episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series airing throughout the summer. The new episodes include notable guest stars such as Jon Stewart, Elizabeth Banks and Simon Pegg.

(Organization Without a Cool Acronym), in the special episode in which Phineas, Ferb and the gang host a global summer concert – just as Doofenshmirtz’s latest ‘-inator’ invention moves the Earth, putting summer itself in jeopardy.
A special soccer-themed episode of the Emmy Award-winning ‘Mickey Mouse’ series of shorts, ‘O Futebol Classico’ will premiere on Friday, June 6 at 7:55 pm ET/PT. In the comedic cartoon — which is presented entirely in Portuguese — spectator Mickey must use his quick-wit to find a way to watch a popular soccer championship.
The short will be available on WATCHDisneyChannel.com, the WATCH Disney Channel app for smartphones and tablets, Disney.com and iTunes the day after the linear premiere.
ABC continues its commitment to world-class storytelling and new creative voices with the announcement of its 2014-15 slate of programming, including the addition of 12 new series. Paul Lee, president, ABC Entertainment Group, will unveil the network’s new lineup to the advertising and media communities this afternoon at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.
‘Our schedule reflects a judicious mix of boldness and stability,’ said Lee. ‘ABC is finishing the season with momentum — we now have building blocks on every night of the week, and we’re using them to launch our new series. In the episode, the wicked fairy, Miss Nettle (voiced by guest star Megan Mullally), disguises herself as a powerful sorceress and attempts to steal Sofia’s magical amulet. With the help of Snow White, Sofia must learn to trust her instincts and speak up when she suspects someone is not who or what they say they are. It features an original song titled ‘All You Desire’ as performed by Sascha the sorceress.
