Just ahead of tomorrow’s start of the International Toy Fairy in New York City, Hasbro has released a first look at its upcoming line of fashion dolls based on this year’s Disney Channel Original Movie, ‘Descendants.’ Pictures here are Mal and Evie, daughters of Maleficent and the Evil Queen respectively.
Available in stores in Fall 2015, the dolls are based off their unique look in the telefilm and each will come an iconic locket and sticker. They will retail for $19.99 each.
Ahead of the International Toy Fair, which kicks off this weekend in New York City, TOMY has previewed its upcoming selection of merchandise based on the new Disney Junior animated series, ‘Miles from Tomorrowland.’ Among the items pictured in the gallery below are:
- Basic figures (Galactic Miles, Superstellar Miles, Merc, Pipp, Loretta and Phoebe, 6.99 each), which glow when placed in the Stellosphere Charging Chamber and come with an accessory
Making its public debut at the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York City is the new Muppets collection by Madame Alexander in support of the new film, Muppets Most Wanted (March 21, 2014). This represents the first time in several years that Madame Alexander has produced anything Muppets related and the first time they have produced hand puppets based on the property.
One of the hotter properties at the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York is Disney XD’s and Lucasfilm’s new Star Wars series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Although Lucasfilm has slowly been offering up character reveals and tidbits surrounding the new show, details have been slowly leaking through upcoming products including this 16-month 2015 calendar from Trends International.
The back of the calendar reveals the art for each of the months which either depicts characters engaging in battle, group shots or individual poses which also names them. In chronological order, the reveals/non-reveals are: Ezra, Hera, Chopper, Kanan, Sabine (depicted wearing a helmet as well as not), Inquisitor and Zeb.
In 2014, JAKKS Pacific will introduce new toys into several of its already existing, successful line of Disney products. In addition, the company (as well as Halloween costume subsidiary Disguise) will introduce a new line of dolls and role-play products based on Disney’s Maleficent (May 30, 2014).
For Maleficent, JAKKS will offer several dolls including the 11.5″ Fashion Dolls consisting of Maleficent, her raven/man servant Diaval and Aurora, each retailing for $19.99. In addition, JAKKS will offer a Collector Doll edition of Aurora, retailing for $39.99. Role play items include Aurora’s Golden Wig with floral clip ($14.99), Aurora’s Floral Tiara ($7.99), Maleficent’s Signature Horns cowl ($19.99) and the light-up Maleficent’s Horns headband ($9.99).
Fans have been clamoring for ‘Gravity Falls’ merchandise since the show began in 2012 and now that it’s proven itself with a new series on the way, along with the ‘Mabel’s Guide’ short-form series and a line of series-inspired books, merchandising will soon be hitting the shelf.
At the 111th Annual International Toy Fair currently being held in New York, we were able to meet with Jazwares who is getting ready to launch an entire line of ‘Gravity Falls’ toys beginning in fall of 2014. While no photos were allowed of the products we saw (and not all the information was readily available), we did learn a few details which you’ll find below.
As part of the 110th American International Toy Fair in New York, Disney offered an invite-only look at some of the upcoming toys and clothing to support Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University, in theaters on June 21, 2013. The majority of the products on display were from Spin Master who serves as the master licensee for the film. Spin Master, who recently also began releasing products in support of Monsters Inc., previously created waves in the Disney universe when it served as the master licensee for TRON: Legacy, infusing technology in play that hadn’t been seen before. The tradition continues with Monsters University in which some of its most advanced toys don’t use batteries at all, yet manage to produce detailed and intricate amusing actions just the same.
If you’ve seen at least three advertisements on children’s television lately, you’ve no doubt seen the one for CuddleUppets by Jay@Play. For the uninitiated, CuddleUppets are precisely what the earworm of the jingle says — blankets with puppets. Children can wrap themselves up with the cuddly blanket portion of the CuddleUppets while manipulating the puppet portion with one hand. While potential film spoilers and the American International Toy Fair often go hand-in-hand, rare is the opportunity that we are able to actually photograph (with permission) new items that contain information not yet disclosed to the public. That said, yesterday we were able to do just that with some supporting merchandise for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University, just ahead of the new trailer launch at 9 am ET and the full Toy Fair product launch with John Goodman and Billy Crystal which kicks off an hour later, at 10.
