WATCH: ABC Teases ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Television Series
It’s just seven seconds long, but for whatever reason, ABC may have just provided us with our first look at the hotly anticipated Hulk television series that Guillermo del Toro and Marvel television have been working on for years Joss Whedon’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ from Marvel Television. It’s just seven seconds long, but it now looks like the series, which was hopefully offered as a 2013-2014 candidate by ABC’s Paul Lee at the television industry’s upfronts last year is soon headed to the small screen via a mystery writer. The Upfronts is an annual event in which networks traditionally invite advertisers and dazzle them with celebrities and sneak peeks at upcoming fall programming — ABC’s 2013 Upfronts will take place on May 14.
It is there we expect that ABC will deliver a sneak peek at the Hulk television program along with its other new offerings along with filling in the blanks and — perhaps more importantly — offer a series premiere date.
Until then, we will have to do with the following video which features a very out-of-focus beast making a mess in the middle of traffic as seen through the guerrilla lens of a group apparently known as the ‘Rising Tide.’
ETA: You can now see this and other videos at the viral site, WeAreTheRisingTide.com
But just who is this ‘Rising Tide’ you ask? A most excellent question. All we can tell you for sure is that Disney recently registered a slew of domain names for an apparent viral campaign to promote the series. As of right now, the only working domain is WEARETHERISINGTIDE.COM but that unfortunately returns a forbidden access response. Other registered domains include: WHATISTHERISINGTIDE.COM and THERISINGTIDEISHERE.NET.
On a related note, it has just been recently reported that ABC has ordered Joss Whedon’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ television series, also from Marvel Television.
UPDATE: Marvel Freshman of ComicBookMovie.com notes that the core footage seen in the teaser simply appears to be from the Abomination fight scene at the end of The Incredible Hulk from 2008, with a filter and logo overlay added.
In addition, many are reporting that this may in fact be a teaser for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and that Rising Tide could be an opposing faction. We will definitely find out next week for sure.
Stay tuned, true believers….
UPDATE #2: Special thanks to Youtube user minigates157 who reminds us of the Marvel one-shot short titled ‘The Consultant’ in which Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg — who had been confirmed for the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ pilot) talks about how the World Security Council regards Emil Blonsky (aka the Abomination) as being a war hero and are not only petitioning for his release from S.H.I.E.L.D., but requesting that he become an agent at the expense of Bruce Banner / the Hulk.
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that confirmation of the series could come as early as this morning and will be promoted on-air beginning Sunday during ‘Once Upon A Time.’
UPDATE #3: We have just learned that Disney (ABC) has now registered the domain name MARVELSAGENTSOFSHIELD.NET. Marvel had previously registered MARVELSAGENTSOFSHIELD.COM along with AGENTSOFSHIELD.COM.

Spidey’s Slippery Slope: The Kirbys’ Spectacular Case Against Marvel
Just how serious is Disney/Marvel about producing an Ant-Man movie? Few in the world are likely to be more interested than the children of comics author Jack Kirby who have named Ant-Man along with Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Thor, Nick Fury a seemingly endless list of comics titles and specific issues in a lawsuit claiming they are the rightful (co-)owners of these creations.
Filed on March 9 in the US District Court in the Central District of California, the complaint filed by Lisa, Barbara, Neal and Susan Kirby as well as the estate of Kirby’s wife, Rosalind, rebquests a trial by jury, seeking unspecified damages against previous and current earnings on these properties of which Disney/Marvel has current control.
Making a very persuasive argument, particularly if it’s all true, the complaint inks a portrait in which a financially strapped Marvel purchased the comics from freelancer Jack Kirby ad hoc — sans contracts and that Kirby created everything on his own time in his own place of residence with his own tools so that he was at no time able to be considered ‘work for hire’ as Disney/Marvel has contended.
