Disney Interactive today officially announced the inclusion of two of the stars from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6 (November 7, 2014): Hiro and a fully armored Baymax. Along with the two Toy Box 2.0 figures, a power disc featuring the talents of chemistry wiz Honey Lemon was also announced. You can find additional photos of the figures, concept art, screens (which also include good looks at Medua’s boat from The Rescuers and Jim Hawkin’s surfboard from Treasure Planet), the trailer and more embedded below. The official descriptions (which apparently include a minor spoiler) for the newly announced figures and power disc are as follows:
Disney Interactive today announced that a special Disney-themed Toy Box Starter Pack is set to launch on November 4, 2014, just in time for the holidays. The Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack (2.0 Edition) gives Disney fans the chance to experience the new and improved Toy Box 2.0 mode, set in the wonderful world of Disney, and is compatible with the game’s Marvel Play Sets.
Amazon has begun listing what it refers to as the Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Premium Value Pack for all consoles at launch for the price of $119.99. In addition to the starter pack featuring the Avengers play set, figures and toy box game discs, the bundle also includes the Spider-Man play set, Captain America figure, Venom figure and Rocket Raccoon figure (as a reminder, Rocket Raccoon is playable inside the Avengers play set once enough tokens are collected during regular game play) as well as a Marvel power disc blind pack.
Disney Interactive today announced that Donald Duck will be the next of the Disney Originals characters to appear as a Toy Box playable in Disney Infinity 2.0. Donald joins other Disney and Pixar characters recently announced for the second generation of ‘Disney Infinity 2.0,’ such as Merida, Maleficent, Stitch, Tinker Bell, Aladdin and Jasmine.
Joining Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, Donald Duck is the second of Disney’s fab five to be added to the Toy Box and is sure to bring nostalgia to Disney fans everywhere. Donald Duck delivers his signature catch-phrases, fiery temper and special abilities like tossing objects, sweeping up enemies with a broom and becoming a feathered fury to the new Toy Box mode where families will be able to use hundreds of Disney and Marvel themed items, locations, props, vehicles and characters to create one-of-a-kind adventures.
Unbelievable sights, indescribable feelings — both of these descriptors could easily apply to ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ from everything we’ve seen so far, but now Disney Interactive has introduced a whole new wave of Toy Box playables: Aladdin and Jasmine.
With a scimitar and a magic lamp at his disposal, Aladdin’s (available fall 2014) brand of action is the answer to all your ‘Disney Infinity’ Toy Box 2.0 wishes. You’ll want to seek out this diamond in the rough. A proven fan favorite, Aladdin has consistently been one of the most requested characters since Disney Infinity was released last year.
During the Marvel Games Panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Disney Interactive unveiled the first set of Marvel Villains playable characters to be part of the second wave of the ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ roll-out: Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy, Green Goblin from Spider-Man and the infamous Loki, God of Mischief from The Avengers. Whether it’s flexing their unstoppable powers for all things evil in their respective Play Sets, the updated Toy Box 2.0, or the newly added structured Toy Box Games, these Super Villains are forces to be reckoned with.
This time around with ‘Disney Infinity 2.0,’ I have been blessed with the opportunity to preview the game several times over the past couple of months and this past week at San Diego Comic-Con I had the additional pleasure of checking it out every day of the con that the pop-up shop was open, including the special Disney D23 event with Alex Hirsch of ‘Gravity Falls.’ I also had the larger pleasure of talking with a few of the folks on the development team and gained additional insight into the game.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Disney Interactive today announced the next chapter in its upcoming ‘Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition)’ — the Guardians of the Galaxy play set, inspired by the Marvel film of the same name, in theaters on August 1, 2014.
The Guardians of the Galaxy play set follows Star-Lord and his fellow Guardians as they arrive at Knowhere, having just stolen a powerful cosmic object from the villainous Ronan the Accuser. Players will guide the team as they race to protect Knowhere from Ronan and his attacking Sakaaran fleet while keeping their newly liberated item safe from the villain’s evil grasp.
Just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Sony and Disney Interactive have revealed the first look and additional details for their exclusive ‘Disney Infinity 2.0′ Collector’s Edition for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as well as a PlayStation 3 bundle.
As part of the third annual ‘Sweet Suite’ event held last night in New York City, I once again had the distinct pleasure to meet with ‘Disney Infinity’ executive producer John Vignocchi as I got a second recent look at the upcoming ‘Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition’ title on the PS4 on an even newer build than the one I saw last month. Unfortunately I didn’t get any actual hands-on with the game this time around as the build is so recent, it contained items not yet officially announced so there’s nothing I can share in terms of that other than to prepare you to hold on to your seats firmly, especially as San Diego Comic-Con hits us next week.
