Apple has released the first trailer for Disney’s Gnomeo and Juliet which will be debut in theaters in spring of 2011. Originally poised to fall under the Miramax Films label, it appears Disney has shifted it over to Touchstone Pictures in an effort to maintain ownership of the film given Miramax’s future departure from The Walt Disney Company.
With classic songs by Elton John and the voice talents of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt and Michael Caine, Gnomeo and Juliet is the re-telling of the Shakespearean tale of Romeo and Juliet in which two garden gnomes find love despite being from warring factions.
Walt Disney Studios and Funny or Die have shared with us this segment from the site in which co-stars Kristen Bell, Odette Yustman, Betty White, Sigourney Weaver and You Again director Andy Fickman come to near blows during a recent group interview to promote the upcoming comedy from Touchstone Pictures.

Then the bride’s jet-setting aunt (Weaver) bursts in and Marni’s not-so-jet-setting mom (Curtis) comes face to face with her own high school rival.
