‘Toy Story 3′ Now Highest Grossing Animated Film of All Time with $920M+ Box Office Worldwide

With record-breaking box office tallies around the world, Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time taking in more than $920 million at the global box office to date. This weekend, the critically acclaimed Toy Story 3 is expected to become Disney’s second film to cross the $400 million domestic threshold and currently ranks as the 4th highest grossing film in company history globally.
“In 1995, the talented team at Pixar introduced a cowboy, a space ranger and their friends who have gone on to become some of the most beloved characters in the world. The success of Toy Story is due to the tremendously creative and innovative team at Pixar, led by John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, and our incredible marketing and distribution teams around the world,” said Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. “In Toy Story 3, director Lee Unkrich, producer Darla Anderson and the incredible team at Pixar have given audiences a film that continued the rich storytelling and character building that have become synonymous with every Pixar release.”
Toy Story 3 started its record-breaking domestic run on June 18 becoming Disney/Pixar’s highest grossing opening weekend taking in $109 million and marking the highest June opening in industry history. Toy Story 3 was the 11th Disney/Pixar title to debut in the #1 position on the opening weekend of wide release.
Toy Story 3 continues to charm audiences around the world, tallying more than $518 million to date, and is expected become Disney’s largest international animated release this weekend. Latin American audiences have contributed $138 million making Toy Story 3 the highest ever grossing Disney film in the region. The film has ranked as the #1 film in the UK for four consecutive weeks and is the most successful release in company history with $90 million to date. Another key driver of the film is Japan, where the film has taken in $84 million while spending five consecutive weeks as the #1 movie in the territory. Toy Story 3 is climbing the box office charts, and currently ranks as the #14 film in global box office history.
While Buzz, Woody and the gang delight audiences in theatres around the world, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has also announced that Toy Story 3 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on November 2, 2010 and is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com in Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy

‘Toy Story 3′ on Blu-ray and DVD, ‘Dance Star Mickey’ Now Available for Pre-order
As we previously announced, you can bring home the ‘#1 animated film of the year,’ Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 on Disney Blu-ray and DVD on November 2, 2010. This is confirmed by Amazon.com which now lists the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy
Although it’s not listed as of yet, we do anticipate at least one more edition of the film to become available, that of the BD 3D/Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, but that one is curiously missing at this time. Reportedly there will be no 3D Blu-ray edition of the film as previously announced.

Disney/Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 3′ Comes Out to Play on Blu-ray and DVD on November 2
According to a photo of an in-store retail advertisement posted on The Digital Bits, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 on Disney Blu-ray and DVD on November 2. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it’s hard to debate with a photo (at least one that hasn’t been modified). This would place the film one week ahead of the rumored release date for Finding Nemo of November 9.
It’s also two weeks prior to the home release of A Christmas Carol which is important to note because that will be the first Blu-ray 3D title released by WDSHE and Toy Story 3 is also anticipated to be released in Blu-ray 3D this year along with Alice in Wonderland, which means there would be a lag between the 2D and 3D versions and, traditionally speaking, WDSHE has often favored the more technologically advanced edition being released first when there is a time period between the releases.
Disney Store will also be releasing a special bundle edition of Toy Story 3 with exclusively dressed Woody and Buzz dolls as we first previewed here.

‘Share the Magic’ This Holiday Season with New Products Exclusively at Disney Store
Still coming down off the high off of the debut of Disney Store’s Imagination Park concept, it’s time to offer a new fix in way of what we can expect from the Disney Store this holiday season thanks to the Disney Consumer Products Holiday Tour which is finishing up its New York leg today.
But first, with New York in mind, here’s some information on the Disney Store Times Square in New York City that we’re eager to share. The store is slated to open in November, just in time for the holiday season. I got to watch a short video with a very hoarse Disney Store President Jim Fielding on a recent visit to the new space located in the heart of Times Square. There’s really nothing to report inside (at least not downstairs), but there was some plywood concept art type stuff along the side of the escalator. Although he has declined to call it a flagship store elsewhere, Fielding has previously stated this will be the largest Disney Store, encompassing two floors. In the video, he explains that while the second floor will be the Imagination Park concept, the entire first floor will be devoted to exclusive Disney-NYC branded merchandise.
Before being introduced to the new product lines and the holiday theme and products, I was also informed that (select) Disney Store locations will be selling vinylmations and that there are planned Disney Store exclusives on their way as well.
With Walt Disney Animation Studios presenting Tangled in November, there is a whole line of products rolling out soon to support it, but rather than repeat it all here, we refer you to the original article covering the Tangled products from Disney Store and Disney Consumer Products. We also covered most of the Disney/Pixar Toy Story and Cars product news in this article.
That brings us to the new line of Disney Princess Singing dolls which we first touched upon in the Tangled report. Although they are not the final bodies, the articulated dolls feature a small, easily-accessible button in their right hands. When pressed, the doll plays a fifteen second snippet of the princess’ respective iconic song in a cappella style. In order to do this, Disney Store enlisted all of the original voice actresses (except for Cinderella and Aurora) to record the song especially for the dolls. All of the arrangements are unique and performed to the liking of the performer, so while Anika Noni Rose’s Almost There is relatively what one is used to, Jodi Benson delivers a true but breathy performance of Part of Your World while Paige O’Hara’s Belle and Lea Salonga’s A Whole New World provide powerful and border-line operatic performances. The dolls, marketed as toys moreso than collectibles, are an unusual 17″ tall and will retail for $29.50 each.
Just in time for the home video release of Beauty and the Beast will be an extensive collection celebrating Belle and her enchanted friends aimed at every one from the toddler to the serious collector.
As a follow-up to the extremely popular limited edition deluxe Snow White dress which sold out, Disney Store will be introducing a very lush Belle dress limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide and retailing for $149.50. But perhaps the most exciting news, while not on display, is word of a whole line of high-end collectibles described as (air quotes) ‘life-size replicas’ (end air quotes) based on the enchanted friends. Specifically, there will be a Cogsworth at his character’s respective height which will be fully operational clock; a Lumiere which will hold candles; and a Mrs. Potts fully detailed china set — you get the idea. Unfortunately there are no plans for a life-size replica Belle at the present time.

Vinylmation has officially confirmed what we first told you yesterday on Twitter, that select Disney Store locations (including the new Imagination Park store in Montebello, CA) will begin carrying vinylmation figures which included the previously unreleased Toy Story (including many figures from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3) and Have a Laugh series pictured to the left.
We also announced that not only will stores be carrying vinylmation, they will also have their own exclusives.
For those wondering when these series will become available at the Parks, we were told by a reader who inquired at D-Street at Walt Disney World that they should start appearing within the week.

First Look: New Toys and Collectibles for Disney/Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Cars’
Disney Consumer Products kicked off its 2010 holiday tour this past week in New York City and brought representatives from every division imaginable to show off all of the new wonderful products you’ll be finding on the shelves this holiday season and we were there to help spread all the joy with you.
Many of the items from Disney Store are old favorites packaged in new ways with exclusive bonus items. For example, the Cars Toons diecast cars will be packaged as a collectible bundle for $119.50 and includes Mia and Tia as exclusives (actual cars not on display). Toy Story 3 collectible figures will be bundled together ($69.50 full retail), offering Lotso and the Alien trio as exclusives.
Also being released is a Rescue Squad Mater Rescue Squad Chopper set ($49.50) which includes Rescue Squad Mater, Lightning McQueen and an exclusive Ambulance diecast car. The side panel of the chopper pops open to reveal storage space for several of the vehicles.
Hot on the heels of the recent release of the limited edition 16″ talking Jessie doll comes a formal dressed Woody (complete with leather hat) and Buzz Lightyear. These are essentially the same as the existing Toy Story 3 dolls from Disney Store except that they’re jazzed up a bit. The best part is that while Jessie was $79.50 alone, you can get this class act duo plus a copy of Toy Story 3 for just $99.50 with a limited edition size of 5,000 pieces.
Over at Mattel, the focus was on the new upcoming Cars Toon, Monster Truck Mater, which I was able to watch before checking out the toys inspired by it. On display were some previously announced items such as the Monster Truck Wrastlin’ Playset and large Frightening McQueen car. New items included die cast editions of some of the characters from the short including Frightening (Lighting McQueen), Tormenter (Mater) and some of the opponents including Rastacarian, Dr. Feelbad and the I-Screamer. The I-Screamer and Tormenter displayed actually have really neat fighting moves in which they can ‘punch’ with their front wheels (no kung fu grip however). There will be additional diecast cars produced based on the short as well.
On the Toy Story side, Mattel and LEGO had some sets on display that were previously embargoed until the film’s release such as a few of the ActionLink! sets and the LEGO incinerator set. But the prize for toy of the day went hands down to the spaceship belonging to the Evil Dr. Porkchop, from the opening sequence to Toy Story 3.
The Millenium Falcon of toys, this baby does everything. E-v-e-r-ything. Hamm as the Evil Dr. Porkchop rides up front in the cockpit while the body of the ship also opens up, exposing jail cells and various rooms in the ship. And if things get too hot, Porkchop can drop down into an escape pod and exit the ship’s mouth before you can say bacon. If that’s not enough, the ship lights up and produces sound effects at the press of a button. The ship will come with three figures including Hamm as the Evil Dr. Porkchop, but not necessarily Buzz and Woody. I’m afraid I don’t recall the exact MSRP for it, but it’s either $59.99 or $69.99.

Disney On Ice Presents Disney/Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 3′ on Ice Using State-of-the-Art Projection
