In one of the more interesting joint promotions for the new Disney/Pixar film, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has enlisted Sheriff Woody and the gang to help promote its priority mail service. The Priority Mail website was the first element in the campaign, receiving a visit from the popular toons.
Kicking off last week, Post Office retail locations across the country have begun displaying posters as well as other Toy Story-themed promotional materials. The Post Offices are also selling several birthday cards from Sunrise Greetings featuring many of the characters from the trilogy as well as padded envelopes in multiple sizes.
Including just a tad bit of new footage, Disney/Pixar has just posted the first television ad for Toy Story 3 online.
Below is the tv advertisement that began running today featuring the Aflac duck in his 50th commercial. The joint venture between Aflac and Disney/Pixar helps to promote Toy Story 3 by placing the beloved duck smack dab in the middle of Sunnyside Daycare.
This is the second advertisement in which the Aflac duck meets the stars of a Disney/Pixar film, the first being a commercial that co-promoted UP.

Aflac is collaborating with Disney*Pixar to create the Aflac Duck’s 50th television ad and to celebrate the Duck’s 10th birthday by reminding people that Aflac is there to help out when you need it most. The commercial is part of Aflac’s integrated marketing campaign with Disney*Pixar to promote Aflac together with the highly-anticipated release of Toy Story 3, a 3D comical adventure opening June 18, 2010.
Below is our gallery of photos from Lotso’s parade debut in which he replaced Little Bo Peep. Please excuse some of the duplicates as we had some issues uploading the photos and some are still missing. Otherwise, please sit back, relax and enjoy!
[SinglePic not found]Lotso from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 began greeting guests at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park this morning and we were pleased to be amongst the first to welcome him to the World. Although we were warned that he would make his first appearance at 10:30, several guests showed up as close to the park’s 9 am opening as possible to stake their place in line. In fact, it wouldn’t be until around 9:45, when the queue already began wrapping around the corner that it would even see its first guest under the age of 15 (or so).
Lotso (short for Lots-o’-Huggin’) will be making his in-park debut on Sunday, May 9 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where he will be meeting & greeting guests in an area of the Animation Building made up to look like Sunnyside Daycare. In addition, he’ll also be appearing in the Pixar parades at both resorts: Block Party Bash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Pixar Play! at Disney California Adventure.
As we mentioned in an earlier item, Toy Story 3 from Disney/Pixar features Buzz Lightyear and Jessie engaging in a Paso Dablo (double-step) when Buzz is switched into Spanish mode to the tune of ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ as performed by the Gipsy Kings.
In order to replicate the dance as closely as possible, the team at Pixar Animation Studios called upon Dancing with the Stars professionals Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke to help them choreograph the scene. The story of the collaboration is told in the following video clip from ABC which features backstage footage and an animation test.
