5'3" LEGO Brick Model of Buzz Lightyear © DisneyA 5’3″ LEGO model of Buzz Lightyear, constructed from 40,000 LEGO bricks in 250 hours by 3 Master Builders, was unveiled by Disney Consumer Products at the Licensing International Expo to showcase the excitement “building” around the classic Toy Story franchise. Disney will support the franchise with the re-release of the first two movies in 3D for a two week engagement this October, a third new movie in summer 2010 and a spectacular consumer products line.

Pixar Characters Surprise Moviegoers on Opening Day of Disney/Pixar’s UP

The Pixar gang celebrates at the Opening Weekend Surprise for UP in ChicagoMoviegoers waiting to see the newest release from Disney/Pixar, UP, at the Kerasotes Show Case Theaters in Chicago, IL got a big surprise when some of Pixar’s classic characters came out to celebrate and watch the movie too. Sulley (Monsters, Inc.), Mr. Incredible (The Incredibles) and Buzz Lightyear and Woody (Toy Story) worked and schmoozed the already excited crowd.

Disney Consumer Products Unleashes All New Intiatives, from Mickey Mouse to Rapunzel and Everyone Inbetween

Disney unveils a line of fashion inspired by Mickey Mouse at the Licensing International ExpoLas Vegas, NV – June 2, 2009 – Disney Consumer Products(DCP) today announced new content and product line extensions behind its renowned portfolio of character franchises starting with the return of the classic Toy Story franchise, the addition of two Disney Princess characters, new Mickey Mouse initiatives, a new Winnie the Pooh theatrical movie and the expansion of the Disney Fairies film series. Disney Channel also announced major milestones for the global sensational hit Hannah Montana as the series is renewed for a fourth season and the award-winning Handy Manny preschool series adds two primetime specials and a new 20 episode short-form series.

Disney to Debut Special Limited Double Feature Engagement of Disney-Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Toy Story 2′ Exclusively in Disney Digital 3D October 2nd

LAS VEGAS, March 31  — Moviegoers are in for twice the fun and triple the thrills as The Walt Disney Studios prepares to debut the Disney Digital 3D(TM) versions of Disney-Pixar’s beloved animated features – “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2″ – during a special limited engagement starting on October 2, 2009, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group.

This extraordinary double feature, taking the latest advances in digital 3D technology “to infinity and beyond,” will play exclusively in 3D. “Toy Story,” the industry’s first ever computer-animated feature and the first feature released by Pixar Animation Studios in 1995, and “Toy Story 2,” the critically acclaimed sequel that debuted in 1999, were both directed by Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker John Lasseter. Both films have been meticulously re-rendered in 3D from the original digital files using the latest state-of-the-art technology.

Disney Drops MEGA Brands for LEGO – Cars, Toy Story and Prince of Persia in 2010

Disney has opted to not renew its licensing agreement with MEGA Brands (the MEGA Bloks series covers Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, et al) in favor of a new agreement with LEGO. Announced for 2010 will be LEGO sets for Toy Story, Cars and Prince of Persia. The wide appeal of the collection has LEGO committed to Toy Story products in both the LEGO DUPLO (large bricks for the toddler set) and the more recognizable LEGO Brick System lines, a product decision that LEGO rarely makes.
