In honor of the theatrical release of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, The Disney Store created a limited edition talking Jessie doll which will be sold at select locations nationwide. For the product’s unveiling at the Michigan Avenue store in Chicago, IL, D23 invited a limited number of members to have the first opportunity to purchase the doll as well as meet and greet with Toy Story 3 co-star and voice of Jessie, Joan Cusack.
Disney Consumer Products and Thinkway Toys have revived the popular video series on the Toy Story Collection line of toys with a brand new installment, this one featuring the all new Mr. Potato Head. In this episode, John explores the origin of the Playskool favorite’s (potato) chip on his shoulder and why Don Rickles was the only real choice to voice the sarcastic spud.

- Has detachable eyes with eyebrows, ears, nose with moustache, mouth, arms and hat.

As part of his Disney Store president Jim Fielding’s pre-Marvel acquisition promise, DisneyStore.com has once again expanded its offerings beyond that of traditional Disney-themed offerings.
Following an introduction of merchandise inspired by TRON and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, DisneyStore.com has now introduced the Marvel Shop, with dozens of items featuring iconic Marvel favorities such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and more.
Now available at Toys ‘R’ Us, the Disney Store, DisneyStore.com and the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, we first came across Disney Pook-A-Looz last year at the Disney D23 Expo and instantly fell in love. Their official tagline is Too cute for their own good and we couldn’t agree more!
The quirky, offbeat take on classic Disney characters was inspired by the urban vinyl toy culture which has progressively been taking the nation by storm and helps to accentuate physical features that the characters are traditionally known for.
‘We focused on capturing one key element, gesture or trait of each character during the design process. We wanted the look to be very unique, quirky and cool,’ said Jose Zamora, lead designer. ‘When you think of the Queen of Hearts, you think of her mouth, so we brought that out in the design. With the Cheshire Cat, you think of the teeth. So we focused on that famous grin.’
The initial collectible set of 20 is available from DisneyStore.com and some individual Pook-A-Looz can be found Disney Store retail locations, the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort and at Toys ‘R’ Us which also sells Pook-A-Looz-inspired accessories such as keychains and clothing with more on the way. Some Pook-A-Looz, such as the Jack Skellington and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas can only be found at the Disney theme parks and keep an eye out for seasonal and other Pook-A-Looz in the future such as the Muppets collection which is expected to be released in Fall of 2011 (and consider this our request for Maleficent). Be sure check out the official Disney Pook-A-Looz website for more information and photos (including their really cute backsides).
PLUS: For a limited time only! Purchase the entire 20 piece Disney Pook-a-Looz set and get FREE shipping on your entire shipment at DisneyStore.com! (offer valid only through 4/4 so act fast!)
With special thanks to Disney Consumer Products, we have hi-res images of the initial collection. We do advise that if you own a pair of sunglasses with cuteness protection factor of at least 15, that you wear them before clicking the thumbnails below. We’ve also thrown in a few of our own photos from the Disney D23 Pook-A-Looz exibit including our most prized possession — the D23 exclusive Steamboat Willie keychain.
The Disney Pook-A-Looz plushes retail for $12.99 each while the keychains retail for $7.99 each.
Sold for $8.95 each, the series 4 of the popular Disney Star Wars action figures includes: Pete as Boba Fett (with accessory helmet, jetpack and blaster); Donald Duck as a Han Solo in Carbonite (with accessory staff and carbonite block); Mickey Mouse as Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (with accessory green lightsaber); Goofy as C-3PO; and Minnie Mouse as Princess Leia in Boushh disguise (with accessory helmet, staff and thermal detonator). The figures will be available at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts beginning in May.
The theme park exclusive 2-figure pack featuring the R2-MK Droid action figure will become available at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts beginning April 1.
As previously reported, the 2 pack, which also includes a Jedi Mickey action figure, will retail for $18.95.
Good news for Disney Vinylmation fans who sometimes get turned off by the blind pack shopping experience. Vinylmation has announced they will soon be releasing an open edition of 3″ Vinylmations in a windowed box titled ‘Big Eyes’ featuring classic Disney characters. As you can see by the photo courtesy of the official blog, the artwork featured on the Mickey Mouse shaped figures is just that.
Something tells us that the Marie from Aristocats as featured in the image will end up being one of the more popular figures.
I was able to briefly penetrate the LEGO fortress (which, despite being bright yellow on the exterior, was constructed of something much more durable than plastic) and get a sneak peek at all of the new Disney branded LEGO and DUPLO sets we can expect to see in 2010.
Solidifying the recent licensing of Disney to LEGO, 2010 marks the first year that LEGO will be introducing Disney-branded DUPLO for the younger set. In this case, we have two series coming out in the first half of the year for Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story and for Disney/Pixar’s CARS. I have to confess I find the DUPLO sets to be absolutely adorable and I wish I could share photos with you but despite being in possession of the box artwork, it’s all preliminary so I’m not allowed to share, but I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
With LEGO, we have a few more Toy Story sets being released in conjunction with the theatrical release of Toy Story 3. These sets are focused on the film and thus some of the characters and concepts behind the playsets will be spoilers. The same could be said for the Prince of Persia releases, so consider yourself warned.
