Via its official YouTube channel, Disney XD has released the following promo which highlights new and returning series in 2012. The new series being teased amongst the clips include ‘TRON Uprising,’ ‘Motorcity,’ ‘Lab Rats’ and ‘Ultimate Spider-Man.’
In ‘TRON Uprising’ — which takes place between both of the films, one young man named Beck (Elijah Wood) must join forces with the legendary hero Tron to free his home city when the computer world of The Grid is taken over by an evil tyrant. Under Tron’s tutelage, Beck will take on a secret identity to fight back, bringing a superhero sensibility to the world of Tron. Also starring in ‘TRON Uprising’ are the vocal talents of Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner as Tron. According to the junior novelization description on Amazon.com
Sneak Peek: ‘TRON: Uprising’ Series Coming to Disney XD, 2012
Disney XD has released the video montage previewed for attendees at its San Diego Comic-Con panel. The video features quite a bit of concept art, models, test animation and what appears to be actual animation from the upcoming midquel, which takes place between TRON and TRON: Legacy.
‘TRON: Uprising’ to Find Genesis as Disney Channel Original Movie
Before it finds life as an animated series on Disney XD in 2012, TRON: Uprising, the sequel prequel, will make its debut as a Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) according to the publisher’s description of the junior novel
Slated to be released on January 3, 2012, which is historically early relative for a movie it promises in the spring, the book’s description reads as follows:
D23 Expo Celebrity Autograph Sessions Announced
Celebrity management company Coolwaters Productions LLC is bringing a cavalcade of talent to the D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, August 19 – 21, at the Anaheim Convention Center. eFX Previews 1982 ‘TRON’ Helmet Replica; Announces Timeline for Nautilus
In an email last night to mailing list subscribers, eFX provided this first look at the replica of the original TRON helmet they’re currently developing. The included image, pictured here, compares the the helmet as seen in the film to the replica being created from eFX.
In related news, eFX has announced that their 4′ replica of Captain Nemo’s Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea has been approved by Disney and will begin shipping in summer. The production is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and is currently being accepted for pre-order ($500 deposit required) up until April 30. Jeff Bridges ‘TRON’ Painting to be Auctioned Online for Charity
Actor Jeff Bridges will have his original painting inspired by the world of TRON auctioned off in order to benefit Share Our Strength®, a national nonprofit, dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America.
The painting, which is acrylic on Plexiglas, measures 46.5″ x 70.5″ and will be available for bidding beginning April 20 from Disney Fine Art. In addition to the auction, a limited edition serigraph, hand numbered and signed by Bridges, will be available for sale in order to benefit the charity, which is receiving 100% of the proceeds from the auction.
Disney to Release Special Edition ‘TRON: Legacy’ Daft Punk Vinyl for Record Store Day
On this year’s Record Store Day (April 16), Walt Disney Records will release a limited edition 10″ vinyl record titled Translucence which features 4 songs from the TRON: Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk: ‘Derezzed, ‘TRON: Legacy,’ ‘End of Line’ and ‘Castor.’
The record, designed to look like an identity disc from the films will be available in red, orange and yellow colors and will be packaged as shown, so the record will be on complete display. It’s expected to retail for about $15.
First Look: ‘TRON: Legacy’ Second Screen; Blu-ray Signing in Hollywood Announced
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has provided us with these first look demo screens of the Second Screen technology for the Blu-ray/DVD release of TRON: Legacy, available to own on April 5, 2011. The technology, recently debuted alongside Bambi,allows viewers to use their iPad or computer to experience additional and relevant information, videos, photos, concept art and more synchronized with the film itself.
In addition, TRON: Legacy director Joe Kosinksi and TRON director and creator Steven Lisberger will be appearing at the Best Buy in West Hollywood, California to sign copies of the films on Disney Blu-ray and DVD. The event begins at 7:30 pm PT.
‘TRON: Legacy’ Vinylmation Now Available Online
The open-box series of TRON: Legacy vinylmation figures are now available online at DisneyStore.com. The 3″ figure collection consists of Clu, Jarvis, Sam Flynn, Quorra, Rinzler, Zuse and two Kevin Flynns, representing both the 1982 original film and the 2010 sequel.
