TRON: Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade—a signal that could only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe—a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

To be included with the home video release of TRON: Legacy, the trailer for the new Disney XD animated series ‘TRON: Uprising’ has made its way online.
Set to debut in summer 2012, the series centers around Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.
Voice talents attached to the show include Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen and Bruce Boxleitner as TRON.
‘TRON: Legacy’ and ‘TRON: Classic’ Available to Own April 5; Special Edition Now Available for Pre-Order
Amazon.com has begun listing a five-disc, limited edition of TRON: Legacy and the original 1982 version, billed as TRON: Classic with a release date of April 5, 2011.
The five disc set includes: TRON: Legacy in Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and DisneyFile formats as well as the original 1982 film along with an light-up identity disc case boasting ‘the ultimate TRON experience.’
The two films will also be available in various formats individually.
More information on the discs will be added as it is released, although it is expected to contain a teaser for a three-quel, currently referred to as TRON 3.
On a related note, Amazon.com is also taking pre-orders for an album titled Tron: Legacy Reconfigured also expected to be released on April 5.
Initially anticipated to have been released in 2010, prior to the theatrical release of TRON: Legacy, the blu-ray edition of the 1982 original film, TRON, failed to materialize. Rumors abounded as to why the BD was never released, but most ended in the assumption that Walt Disney Studios intentionally had something to hide, although personal reasons as to why that would be varied.
Recently the HD Room offered up this artwork of what’s being sub-titled as ‘the original classic.’ Although no release has been confirmed by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment as of yet and HDR advises this may not be the final artwork, they seem pretty confident that the BD edition will not only see the light of day but that it will contain some pretty special bonus features that may very well make the wait worth it.
The Walt Disney Company announced plans today to release at least fifteen of its films on Disney 3D Blu-ray throughout 2011. Among the titles scheduled to be released are: The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and new films TRON: Legacy and Tangled.
Bolt, which has already been released as part of certain 3D Blu-ray packages, will also be available for everyone to own in 3D, as will Meet the Robinsons, G-FORCE, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Chicken Little which has been available in 3D via on-demand services.
In addition to the film being in 3D, each disc will include thematically linked 3D menus, 3D previews of coming-attractions trailers and an introduction to the eye-popping world of Disney Blu-ray 3D featuring beloved characters Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King.
“As our contemporary library of 3D content continues to grow, and the original artists and filmmakers meticulously ‘dimensionalize’ their work for release on the Blu-ray 3D format, we will be offering movie-lovers the most incredible in-home entertainment experience they will ever have,” noted Lori MacPherson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. “In addition to offering new releases day-and-date in 3D and further cementing our leadership in the marketplace, we’re thrilled that consumers will have the exclusive Blu-ray 3D experience of two of the most celebrated Disney animated features, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in their homes.”
No announcement of Toy Story 3 has been made as of yet, although the company made intentions last year of releasing it in 2010 and even gave hints at its release although it never materialized.
Interestingly enough, word was that Beauty and the Beast 3D, while released internationally, failed to see its release in 2010 because consumer demand for 3D at home was still considered in its infancy. This move suggests the feelings were quite the opposite, that a home video release appeared to be the wiser financial investment for the company.

Disney Mobile announced today its new TRON: Legacy mobile game for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad on the App Store. Available for 99 cents, the new app brings the world of TRON to life in a series of competitions through 24 rounds with visually stunning graphics developed to maximize the Retina Display on iPhone 4 and iPod touch as well as the large high-resolution display of iPad. The launch coincides with the Disney motion picture release of TRON: Legacy on December 17.
The game also features a TRON Mobile GRID Championship which will debut on Dec. 25 allowing players to compete for prizes, including the 3D HDTV Entertainment System, TRON Audio Dock from Monster and TRON: Evolution—The Video Game.
“Since launching the free TRON app at Comic-Con back in July, we have been building up to this week and keeping fans engaged with all things TRON, every step of the way,” said Stephen Saiz, director of marketing, Disney Mobile. “We’re extremely proud of the new, premium app, TRON: Legacy, and think it builds on all of the excitement around the film as it hits theaters.”
In the TRON: Legacy mobile game, players race the latest generation of 3D Light Cycles and fire cannons from the cockpit of massive Recognizers as they earn points and qualify for new contests and unlock new arenas. With a choice of 16 different courses, players have the option to compete in standard races or timed trials as well as the ability to compete head-to-head in high velocity 3D Light Cycle races. Inspired by the film, game controls allow racers to steer, block opponents, fire cannons from the cockpit of massive Recognizers and deploy power ups like Shield Breaker, Arc and Cloak—all in the quest to become the ultimate Grid Game Champion.
Also timed with the release of Walt Disney Pictures’ film TRON: Legacy on December 17, Disney Mobile has updated its free TRON app with an Apple iPod/iPhone Visualizer and Alarm Clock application that works exclusively with Disney Consumer Product’s new TRON Audio Dock from Monster. The app is a totally immersive iPod/iPhone music player with Visualizer Graphics effects that engages the alarm clock with the dock’s “Identity Disc” lighting rings for an attractive “wake-up” effect.
Tapulous, a part of Disney Mobile, also features music from the film in its most popular game, Tap Tap Revenge 3, where users can download for free and tap along to Daft Punk’s single, “Derezzed.”
